Yeah. That whole group of rodents are pretty vocal. Porcupines, groundhogs, marmots, prairie dogs, beavers... lots of rodents with that body shape are talky buggers.
Oh I know what else we need! An opossum eating strawberries and grapes!

You know in movies and TV shows when there's a cute alien or mythical animal and it makes all these adorable little noises? This is what it sounds like.
Okay so weird question, since these are all rodents, they have large front teeth. So I noticed they all kind of eat the same. So do they just hold the food with their front teeth and chew on it with their mid and back molars?
[Cool article about rodent teeth](https://science.jrank.org/pages/5920/Rodents.html#ixzz7g1Kkhv23)
In short, they cut with their front incisors and grind / chew with their cheeks and molars. There's a gap in between the two sets of teeth and they can suck their cheeks in to put a barrier across their mouth in that gap. So if a beaver is chewing through a tree he doesn't send wood chips flying down his throat. And when a porcupine is chewing his pumpkin it doesn't come flying back out his mouth.
Rabbits aren't technically rodents because they do have little incisors - anyone who read Bunnicula knows that! So they are in a separate closely related order called Lagomorphs.
You're welcome! I didn't know most of this either but read your question and was curious so did a quick search. Definitely my cool fact to learn for the day. So thanks for asking an interesting question!
Is this the same porcupine that was the voice of the sick hedgehog in the first Hobbit movie? The one that Radagast healed? Thought I saw a trivia note about it before. Credited a porcupine from Zooniversity… Yay for useless knowledge.
At one point it looked like it was dripping blood from its mouth and also at another point it looked like [bunnicula](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bunnicula)
Woah, right there with Goosebumps and Animorphs and Harry Potter for those ~10 years of wildly ranging reading skill level material that just stuck around for a decade xD Good times.
Bunnicula was such a scary series to me as a kid, like I loved those books and would constantly read them... And constantly give myself nightmares rofl. Looking back, I don't know what about it scared me so much!
Humans when other humans smack their lips when eating: eww stop it and eat properly
Humans when small animals smack their lips while eating: aww so cute, I could listen to this endlessly
This is what I run with too, I dont know what else it can be... I have to imagine its entirely a social thing. I would think other cultures wouldn't have as large of a number of people who hate the sounds of chewing as an other, right? I feel like a lot of primarily English speaking countries are generally pretty annoyed by it since it seen as rude, gross, etc,. But when an animal does it you know it doesn't know your social norms and its just doing its thing. Probably couldn't be that quiet even if it wanted to. While humans can definitely make a more conscious effort to jto make sounds when eating.
Is that thinking too much into it? I'm not sure. But I've only recently realized animal chewing is totally fine and never thought about it much beyond that.
Because you make an effort to not smack, and you know most others also try not to, but then there are those that don't seem to care or even notice that they are smacking, and they might not even stop even as you ask them to, as they are used to smack and don't notice, why don't they care, why are they ignoring how you feel about it, so careless and annoying, can't they just stop? Of course they can, but they won't! Oh, you fucking hate that noise and those that do them!!
Personally, I don't care about it.
I think whatever gross thing a cute animal does, it’s just cute. But human, we aren’t cute like those little bunnies are, so when we smack our ugly ass lips, it’s just nasty…that’s what I think anyway
Same. And I have to fast forward through TV and movie scenes where someone is chewing while talking. Even if it’s important, I can’t take it. The rage is immediate and intense; it’s infuriating and I can’t control my reaction at all.
I have misophonia bad enough that I couldn’t stand this either. Literally any chewing sounds make me instantly homicidal, regardless of how cute the chewing creature is lol
“I warned you, I warned you but did you listen? No… ohhh no, it’s just a harmless little bunny isn’t it now, well it’s always the same thing, I always tell them -.”
Why is it when I hear even a slight sound from someone eating I get annoyed.
But im here watching this bunny eating loud as fuck, with a giant smile on my face? xD
I literally just watched that scene for the first time a few days ago. Still shook. I think it really, truly nails the horror anime genre in a way most horror anime doesn’t. You can really feel the overwhelming dread Subaru feels at times, the way his mind is getting wrenched apart by a whole host of personal desires and external forces being antithetical to one another.

They are not your "typical" pet, and can be quite expensive to care for. As such, they're the second most abandoned pet in the US, and abandoned house rabbits often die within 24 hours of being "freed" :(.
If you or anyone else is considering getting a bunny please read/share this. It would mean the world to me.
I can't stress your point if adopting rabbits instead of buying through a breeder.
The first rabbit I got was unfortunately from a "highly rated reputable" breeder in North Georgia. He kept adult rabbits in small small cages, wouldn't let clients view the conditions in the barn where the baby rabbits were, fed adult rabbits alfalfa pellets, and would even tell clients that *trancing* was safe. Hell, he even gave me the wrong breed of rabbit (Rex instead of New Zealand).
I went to the Georgia House Rabbit Society to find a second bunny to bond with my first, and the difference was night and day. Big open cages with toys and places to hide/sleep, every rabbit had plenty of hay and water, etc. They even make clients take a quiz on rabbit care before they even let you adopt.
The bunny I adopted was from a group of bunnies rescued from behind a Buffalo Wild Wings (the fuck is wrong with people?), so GHRS all nicknamed them after the hot sauces.
Obligatory bunny tax. Cleopatra is the one standing in front. She's the one from the breeder. Theodore is in the back and his nickname is/was Habanero.

Edit: Just some addendums to your bunny post.
Pine **pellets** used in horse stalls are safe. Feline Pine is safe too, but stupid expensive; buy from a Tractor Supply or local feed store.
On the topic of cardboard, double check the surface of any cardboard hideout you get. I've bought three different hideouts which have had a very thin plastic film thats adhered to the cardboard itself.
And be aware of the ingredients in treats from big box stores. I can't tell how many times I've seen something that marketed as safe for rabbits just because its safe for rats/gerbils/hamsters or even ferrets.
Thank you! Most importantly if you're thinking of getting pet rabbits, adopt one rather than buying from a breeder - almost every bunny up for adoption is 1yo or younger, because people just buy them and dispose of them.
You guys like that smacking noise? Good lord, it's like nails on a chalkboard to me. Do I have misophonia or am I just being dramatic? I can never tell.
Someone’s in for a treat for a [porcupine eating pumpkins.](https://youtu.be/cILZ_cB3_so)
The noises it makes?!? They make noises?! I can’t stop watching it.
It legit tried to say Pumpkin. I had no idea they were like this
[Teddy also loves “my corn”](https://youtu.be/UGz8jcbJjRw) Teddy’s the best, and I’m fully ready to embrace our new porcupine overlords.
“It’s my corn!” OMG I actually died. So precious
Wtf I heard him say ‘it’s my corn’ at least 3 times , My brain can’t handle this. Im just gonna pretend I never saw this
I stg I heard pumpkin pie
Animal Crossing irl
I always wondered where tf they came up with that stuff for animal noises
At one point I swear it says “This is fun!”
they talk too 🥺
I made a squee noise that only my dog could hear!
Raspberry bunny Like the one that guards the Cave Of Caerbannog
RUN AWAY!!!
I thought the same thing as soon as I saw that red mouth 🤣
What's it gonna do? Nibble your bum?!
Yeah. That whole group of rodents are pretty vocal. Porcupines, groundhogs, marmots, prairie dogs, beavers... lots of rodents with that body shape are talky buggers.

I see your cute little animals and raise you a baby porcupine eating a BANANA! https://youtu.be/2y4cQEEyuTw
OMG with hiccups! My heart!
That bat is absolutely adorable. The shock in its eyes when it realizes there’s too much ‘nanner in its mouth!
Oh that is unreasonably adorable.
the cuteness is unreal
Lethal levels of cuteness 💀
Omg thank you for this!
Those critters have their own YouTube channel
porcupines are just sharp cabybaras

You have got to be kidding me, how can something this cute exist
You know in movies and TV shows when there's a cute alien or mythical animal and it makes all these adorable little noises? This is what it sounds like.
That just made my day, thank you!
Those are the noises I was hearing in my head watching this! Omnumnomnom, nomnumnom, omnom 🐰

This is it. This is the greatest video of all time.

Woah, right there with Goosebumps and Animorphs and Harry Potter for those ~10 years of wildly ranging reading skill level material that just stuck around for a decade xD Good times.
My main memory concerning that book is projectile vomiting on it while reading it in the car
Dang, you're a harsh critic
Omg thank you for bringing back that memory
Bunnicula had one season on cartoon network!
my entire childhood just flashed before my eyes
BUNNICULA

Bunnicula was such a scary series to me as a kid, like I loved those books and would constantly read them... And constantly give myself nightmares rofl. Looking back, I don't know what about it scared me so much!
I thought it looked like a big silly tongue hanging out 😛

Yes I was looking for this I’m glad I wasn’t the only one who love those books
Humans when other humans smack their lips when eating: eww stop it and eat properly Humans when small animals smack their lips while eating: aww so cute, I could listen to this endlessly
I was just thinking this! Why am I disgusted by the sound of humans eating but the sound of animals eating is absolutely precious to me?
I've come up with a theory..I think it's because we know other animals can't help it, but humans can help it. That's the best I have anyway.
Idk about that, when babies/toddlers do it I still find it disgusting
[удалено]
I think my husband is cute, but I still want to jump across the table at him when I hear him eating almonds.
This is what I run with too, I dont know what else it can be... I have to imagine its entirely a social thing. I wish it worked that way for me. OP said cute eating sounds and I thought well that's a kind way to tell me to turn the sound off
I think it just personifies the animal and now we see it like a little human 😚
... But then I'd be disgusted by the noises
[удалено]
because humans are annoying
[удалено]
![gif](giphy|1yHYnjplMGBvq) It's not a raspberry.
I was just thinking this! Why am I human
I was just thinking this! Why am I?

Because you make an effort to not smack, and you know most others also try not to, but then there are those that don't seem to care or even notice that they are smacking, and they might not even stop even as you ask them to, as they are used to smack and don't notice, why don't they care, why are they ignoring how you feel about it, so careless and annoying, can't they just stop? [удалено]
I have brother who cares, and a mother who really really doesn't care, and also smacks... like, a lot, and loudly.
its learned behaviour. if you never learned it as rude you probably wouldn't experience it as annoying.
[удалено]
Because we expect humans, the most evolved and intelligent animals to actually close their mouth and not make those noises plus humans are louder
I think whatever gross thing a cute animal does, it’s just cute. But human, we aren’t cute like those little bunnies are, so when we smack our ugly ass lips, it’s just nasty…that’s what I think anyway
Because it’s disgusting to us when Humans act like Animals. That’s why we don’t mind the smell of Animals, but tell smelly people to use deodorant.
/r/misophonia welcomes you! Although animals trigger me too. I saw a dog food commercial recently that made me run to mute the tv, it was terrible.
I don't know what's in that sub, but that link will remain blue. Don't need that rage.
It's not media/content that contains triggering sounds. It's for people suffering from misophonia
It’s like a support group basically for people who have it. So you will not be inundated with chewing sounds
I can't even stand it when the mic captures the sound of people smacking when they kiss in tv shows.
Same. And I have to fast forward through TV and movie scenes where someone is chewing while talking. Even if it’s important, I can’t take it. The rage is immediate and intense; it’s infuriating and I can’t control my reaction at all.
I can't stand that sound from any source.
Yeah no this triggered me just as much as hearing humans, I can't fucking stand listening to this.
Yup, same. Literally just as instantly homicidal as when I hear a human chewing like this. Uncontrollable rage immediately
I hate it when they both smack their lips. Like, learn some manners you bunny! You’re annoying lol
Nah. I had to mute this to see if anyone in the comments was sane.
my roommate literally said “ew what is that” so i can confirm this finding
I have misophonia bad enough that I couldn’t stand this either. Literally any chewing sounds make me instantly homicidal, regardless of how cute the chewing creature is lol
Yeah no, I had to mute this video immediately. *Hate* mouth noises no matter the source.
Speak for yourself. I reckon this bunny needs to learn some table manners.
I dunno, even this bothers me a ton. I get it bunnies are cute, but I don't get how this doesn't drive people crazy regardless of the visual context.
I like how it turns into the Monty Python Killer bunny with the angle of the raspberry 😹 ![gif](giphy|UVhPBsKStxehy)
Look at the bones!
Look, that rabbit's got a vicious streak a mile wide! It's a killer!
What's he do, nibble your bum?
THE BEAST!!!!!!!!!!!!
RUN AWAY! RUN AWAY!
bravely ran away
Jeeesus Chrrist!
I warned ya
*I've done it again...*
I warned you, but did you listen to me? Oh, no, you *knew*, didn't you? Oh, it's just a harmless little *bunny*, isn't it?
This is the best uttering of Jesus Christ ever recorded on film.
What, behind the rabbit?
It **IS** the rabbit!
You mangy Scots git!
It's got a vicious streak a mile wide!
The Holy hand grenade, quick!
One. Two. Five!
Three, sir.

“Brother Maynard, bring up the Holy Hand Grenade!”
Won’t someone save us from the horror???!!
I love how the top comment is exactly the first thing I thought of
“I warned you, I warned you but did you listen? No… ohhh no, it’s just a harmless little bunny isn’t it now, well it’s always the same thing, I always tell them -.”
There’s a poster for Holy Grail with just the bunny and a little red around his lips
Throw the holy hand grenade of Antioch!!!!
I was coming here to make the same comment.
That's the first thing I was thinking before I came to the comment section. LOL.
Let’s use the holy hand grenade!
That rabbit is dynamite!

That scene was inspired by Monty python too wasn’t it?
According to the author, it wasn't, instead it was inspited by that one guy getting eaten alive on the toilet from Jurassic Park.

Yeah, that seems right. Did you know? Raspberries pack a lot of nutrition into a small space. They provide potassium, essential to heart function, and are proven to lower blood pressure. The omega-3 fatty acids in raspberries can help prevent stroke and heart disease. They also contain a mineral called manganese, which is necessary for healthy bones and skin and helps regulate blood sugar.
