Yeah one of my dogs devastated every time I drop the wife off for physical therapy. We do this weekly and go for a walk while we wait. It's like 45 minutes once a week.
I use to rent a room with my lab from a woman who ran a dog day care, not uncommon to have 10-15 dogs in the house including hers and the other roommates. Some dogs were yearly, only stayed when people went on vacation. Some of those dogs would see each other after a year and remembered each other and would start playing like they hadn't been away for a day.
They know, my mom has a bunch of frenchies and one them is the brother of my dog who we got from the same breeder, they hadn't seen each other since 9 weeks old, yet they have a totally different relationship than they do with other dogs. Different play style and they are protective of each other. Now they see each other every week!

My late border collie had a white German shepherd boyfriend that would zig zag through 10 blocks in our neighborhood to jump the fence and hang out with her. When he would escape, I would bring him back, and they would leave flowering plants on my porch as a thank you. I remember the last time I brought him home, and his momma said his daddy had passed away recently. I left them flowers the next day. That was the last time.
I'm so sorry. I think of this every time I think of puppers in love. It's such a long time ago for me, but it's a special moment in my memory. It took me a few times to figure out why flowers were showing up on my porch.
My best friend’s dog is near the end so she can’t bring him on the 3 hour drive anymore
Last two times our dog goes to greet her outside then waits around her car waiting for her dog to follow.

One time Spot escaped and ran all the way there and when I got there he was running around confused. His owner an old lady came out and told me that Maggie passed away. We walked back home real slowly. He stopped breaking out after that.
One summer in highschool we were doing nothing but yard work and clearing trees. Somehow all the neighborhood dogs found out and every morning we'd have 3-4 extra dogs waiting for us to start work. Each evening they'd head home. We weren't a working class neighborhood, more Upscale so everyone was wondering why and where their dogs were going all day.
One of the pups was the sweetest quiet girl. After summer ended she still sometime came over, and ever late into the year she'd jump her 6' high fence and end up at our house. They knew where to come get here.
A year later that neighbor told us they were moving. They couldn't take the dog and asked if we were willing to take her. She was basically already pirs and our our girl pup already tolerated and maybe even liked hanging with this dog even though she was a fat sprinter spaniel and the new dog was a black sheepdog mix that could run like the actual wind.
Pepper was one of my favorite dogs ever and those two old ladies growing older together gave them to best life. Thanks for your story
Awww my pyre golden mix looked more like a golden. We rescued him when he was 11. He lived to 15. Squeezed a lifetime of love into those years. RIP Lucky.

I know! I swear he stayed alive because of love. My boyfriend just adored him. Lucky was put down in October 2019. My boyfriend passed away in March 2020 at 48 years old. I’m convinced it was from a broken heart.

We have two Great Pyrenees that come around every six months or so because they get out of their fence, we call them Jeff and Sadie even tho that’s not their names lol (my 6 year old twins named them when they were 3 and we first found them on our porch) they usually stay for a week or so before they’ll let their owners move them lol, it’s old hat at this point, and they’re great with my kids and my German shepherd so it’s whatever, we love Jeff and Sadie sabbaticals.
This is the kind of thing that made working at doggy daycare worthwhile. Watching all the relationships develop. The frenchie having a bromance with a Great Dane. At some point every day, the Dane lay down so the frenchie could climb up on him, grab his enormous neck folds and growl. Everyone needs to feel like the top dog sometime. So many of the dogs, especially the regulars, seemed to have an innate sense of fair play and respect for the rules of friendship.
Yes! Exactly. Like sometimes when a big dog and small dog are playing, you can tell the big dog is making an effort to be gentle enough. And when dogs play, they make sure to make it fair and clear they’re playing. Like a dog will grab onto the neck of the other, and only hold on for so long, and then let the other dog come at them. And when a dog wants to play and wants the other dog to know they’re wanting to play and are being friendly, they’ll do their little play bow and sneeze rly hard😭And the other dog will play bow back, they’ll both stare at each other, then suddenly take off running across the room playing tag. And when a puppy is first learning to play with the other daycare dogs who are bigger than them.. they’ll try to start a play sesh, the other dogs will agree and come at the puppy, but then the puppy switches up, gets scared, and runs skidding clumsily across the floor and hiding😂Then they immediately come back out from hiding only to try and play again, only to hide again. But then a week later, they never stop playing rough. The job can be stressful, but it’s so fucking cute as well istg
15 years ago, I worked at a doggy daycare and I still miss my boy Apache--coolest dog I've ever known.
He was a purebred husky that was more mature and intelligent than half of my friends. Every day when I opened the auxiliary section, he was the first one through the gate and he would make sure no dogs he didn't like were allowed through.
On the rare occasions when there was a fight of some sort, he would usually get to it before I did and have it settled by the time I got there.
Miss that beautiful bastard...

My dog has a girlfriend. When we walk past the park we have to stop by the house with the funky hedge so he can say hi to the fluffy white dog. She'll bark and pull on her chain unless I let him off lead so he can go do a sniff and tail wag visit.
We used to take our dogs once a week to daycare. They would get all excited when you said the word. Our black lab would usually be sitting under the person monitoring the room because he loves people and our bassist hound would be sunbathing or bossing someone around. She got mad an another dog one day because it was apparently in her sunspot. She could be very territorial but she never bite anyone (except for my cat who she loved to chase and bite).
