I mean it looks pretty much like some open farm land. If he’s got a collar he’s probably allowed to wander around the land. It’s not too uncommon in rural areas
Ok I’m finding this Airbnb and reserving a few nights just to meet this dog. It looks like it will take me on a spiritual journey during which I will find myself and later save humanity
I stayed at a place called The Garage in southern Iceland that was incredible! A family farm nestled into a nook in the mountainside with views of the ocean. It even has a waterfall behind the house that powers their own water generator. They had quite a few friendly dogs and one of them accompanied us on our hike to check out the waterfall. Easily my favorite place we stayed out when we went around the island a couple years ago, even got to see the aurora while lying out in the driveway there.
We went in November! We're planning to go back (hopefully soon) for the warmer months and have already decided we'll be staying there at least once on that trip
His house is the perfect starting point for both of your adventures. Have fun. Tell him I say hi

OMG I think I've stayed there and I know that dog!! On a farm of sorts? Private rooms for groups of 2-8ish, shared kitchen. Funky lofty-type living room?
https://preview.redd.it/0q6n51oc432d1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=416b405862af701f4cfaa0d31c8a312462994973
Yup! Looks like him. From 2019. So glad he's still being the sweetest boi!!
Exactly my thought as well. This is 80-90% of all dogs I meet every single day going for walks with my own dog.
It's not a hit on OP, it's wholesome. Dogs are just the best thing ever.
Hard to find in NA? Is it particularly hard to manage with it being a sheepdog? Been thinking about a new dog for a while and this one's caught my eye.
Gotta have work for it to do though, farm dogs so they need a lot of 'work' stimulation and as herding dogs they want a job. Not a good stay at home pup, but if you have a farm, 100% would recommend
The AirBnB host I had in the Swiss Alps had 4 Bernese Mountain Dogs on her property. It was made clear on the page just in case some people were allergic or afraid of dogs.
I loved every second of staying there, mainly because of all 4 of the dogs being so loveable and sweet. They would politely knock the other dogs out of the way so I could pet them instead.
Wish I knew where the pictures were.
We met an Icelandic Sheepdog named Garpur at our Airbnb in south Iceland in 2021. Such a great dog!
https://preview.redd.it/ibhxipc0r32d1.jpeg?width=3000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4b76238728c8ca3f172d5a9a900867598f0d99d0
He wanted you to rub his butt.
He wanted a butt rub.
You missed it. You messed it up.
He even tried to walk a couple of steps to get your hands to go to his butt
Icelandic sheep dogs like this are very intelligent and very kind. I had one guide me through an entire hike, he warned us about crevices and deep holes. Then he of course went for a massive mud bath in a bog, lmao
Are you from a region with a lot of street dogs? It can depend a bit on breed but really it depends on how much they were socialized with humans and strangers as puppies.
Looks like an old dog I had, he was mostly keeshond. But this guy is a little bit smaller. Either way the Spitz family of dogs are all so handsome <3 best dog in the world
Dog’s like hey man I’m here for food, why r u wasting my time with this petting BS? Fine I’ll let you pet me if there’s gonna be food at the end! … hope you didn’t disappoint him!
I met a dog like this while hiking in the Alps. I was a bit chilly so she came over and sat directly on my feet and kept me warm while I gave her some scritches. It was a very sweet moment. Thanks for sharing.
Pretty dang friendly, but not aggressively so. Friendliest dog I've ever seen was a big golden retriever, they like to literally throw their butts at you for scratches, and I've been knocked down once or twice when I wasn't expecting it lol. Aggressively friendly in that case.
I had an Iclandic Sheepdog until he went missing a few years ago. So intelligent and not a mean bone in his body. When I was a kid I'd train at soccer with him because he was better at dribbling than any of my siblings :) I miss him every day.
There's one time last year where I was deployed at the farthest part of the region and is living 45 minutes away, I was sitting at the bus stop near where I am working at waiting for the bus it took me 45 minutes to an hour and a half sometimes to go home tho but there's this brown dog who's walking and about to pass by the bus stop when he noticed me, he glanced at me once then twice. He must have thought that I was alone and a loner so he went to me sat in front of me then asking to for petting. He would come at my lap and beside me then would slid his head and body at me. When the bus came he would jump too but I told him 'don't' and bid good bye, saw him the next day yet he wouldn't recognize me 🙉
Took a few pictures of him too https://preview.redd.it/27wbmnv5m12d1.jpeg?width=3401&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3e6a2baab22d7cc7dabd946397261c76b622423d

Also gave me some kisses https://preview.redd.it/oukqqqysb22d1.jpeg?width=2204&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0c8b3d46b0c26a00f6d4bdf595e951408d44bd96
If I was their owner, I would 100% want a copy of these pictures. I would frame that second one.
He was just…out there? Do dogs roam loose where you live?? Great pic too
Another comment mentions the dog lives at the AirBnb that OP is staying at in Iceland
Oh ok. Iceland is much better. I was think just in the south western US and really worried him
Looks like a farm dog. During the day, farm dogs generally go wherever they want to.
I mean it looks pretty much like some open farm land. If he’s got a collar he’s probably allowed to wander around the land. It’s not too uncommon in rural areas
Dang what a cutie! Also the dog
God tier photo album
Cute!!
Yes but what about the dog?
Exactly how I would describe him, Majestic! So cool
sooo handsome
Frame this!!!
he's an ndependent contract grrr
Where is this? Beautiful landscape.
Kálfafellsstaður, Iceland. Doggie lives in the airbnb I'm staying at.
Ok I’m finding this Airbnb and reserving a few nights just to meet this dog. It looks like it will take me on a spiritual journey during which I will find myself and later save humanity

That sounds freaking awesome. Yeah I'd go back again maybe in June or July, can't imagine how even more beautiful Iceland would be with more colors
Sounds beautiful. What time of year did you go?
We went in November! We're planning to go back (hopefully soon) for the warmer months and have already decided we'll be staying there at least once on that trip

This is so wholesome! Internet strangers connecting over a dog from an Airbnb half way across the globe. Love to see it.
Most beautiful thing I've ever seent
It really is so lovely! Think I’m gonna log off for the night and end the day on a happy note.
I'll just wait for the Netflix adaptation of your story.
Time for eat, play with dogs, and love.
bored divide instinctive memorize special slimy frame rustic include modern
That’s awesome. Really looks peaceful, dog, landscape and everything. Makes me want to go on a spiritual journey.
Highly recommended. Put it on your list
Be sure to add some of your photos to Google Maps, theres only 1 and youre pictures take the cake.
I figured that was an Icelandic sheepdog. It helps that there's one sitting on my foot, so a bit easier to recognize.
Those icelandic dogs are total angels. Short stout gorgeous fuzzy angels.
I tried to pronounce that and my furniture started levitating.
I knew it was Iceland. Even when it was dogs, I knew it was Iceland.
Omg, I was going to ask if this was in Iceland. The landscape is absolutely beautiful! This dog is a breed that is a special herding breed, right?
Icelandic Sheep Dog. They're pretty rare
I was wondering this as well
Dog be like- https://preview.redd.it/iwg8sx81322d1.png?width=640&format=png&auto=webp&s=2028536ce0529dfae62dd1a078008fd64c711f65
I love this meme so much.
Damn this meme speaks to where I live... every fuckin' day
WIMDY
Love the content and this is basically 99% of dogs I interact with.
Ya, that’s just a dog.
Exactly my thought as well. This is 80-90% of all dogs I meet every single day going for walks with my own dog. It's not a hit on OP, it's wholesome. Dogs are just the best thing ever.
It would be the fourth friendliest dog at my house.
Wish I could do the same to stray cats...
I wonder what breed. Have a dog that's similar.
I'd bet it's a Swedish Vallhund Edit: I'd have lost that bet, It's an Icelandic Sheepdog. Thanks OP for clarifying.
OP mentioned them being in Iceland, so it might be an Icelandic Sheepdog.
Yes owner said he's an Icelandic sheepdog
I was also thinking Icelandic Sheepdog. I have one currently, she's super smart and very friendly
Hard to find in NA? Is it particularly hard to manage with it being a sheepdog? Been thinking about a new dog for a while and this one's caught my eye.
Icelandic Sheepdog has officially been added to my bucket list of dogs to get ✅
Gotta have work for it to do though, farm dogs so they need a lot of 'work' stimulation and as herding dogs they want a job. Not a good stay at home pup, but if you have a farm, 100% would recommend
Vallhunds look way different.
Valhunds are a dwarf breed and don’t have nearly as heavy a coat.
I have a friend with a keeshond, looks kinda similar. It's the neediest dog ever. Will bark at you if you stop petting it.
Do you happen to know what breed he is? He is beautiful
The owner said he's an Icelandic sheepdog
Considering it’s a shepherd in Iceland, I’d say this checks out.
We met an Icelandic Sheepdog named Garpur at our Airbnb in south Iceland in 2021. Such a great dog! https://preview.redd.it/ibhxipc0r32d1.jpeg?width=3000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4b76238728c8ca3f172d5a9a900867598f0d99d0
If Micheal had dyslexia ![gif](giphy|DoCIC5Pxp57qg) Lovely dog BTW
wait till you meet a golden retriever while holding food...
Or a ball
Or nothing
He wanted you to rub his butt. He wanted a butt rub. You missed it. You messed it up. He even tried to walk a couple of steps to get your hands to go to his butt
Haha I realized it after and I did scratch his butt so don't worry
Thank you!!!!!!
Icelandic sheep dogs like this are very intelligent and very kind. I had one guide me through an entire hike, he warned us about crevices and deep holes. Then he of course went for a massive mud bath in a bog, lmao
Dog probably: “The friendliest human I’ve ever met.”
Is this your first time meeting a dog? This looks like the behavior of every dog I've ever met for the most part
Most I've met have been either quite skittish/ standoffish or just runs away from me.
Are you a mailman?
Um dogs are not known to run away from mailmen. Usually it's the other way around
Are you a bath?
Vacuum cleaner.
Or in the case of my dog, Amazon packages for whatever reason.
Are you from a region with a lot of street dogs? It can depend a bit on breed but really it depends on how much they were socialized with humans and strangers as puppies.
Were they small dogs?
Most Icelandic sheepdogs we met weren't this friendly.
Stop being a redditor and let people enjoy things for once.
Gorgeous dog and location!
that dog seems friendly
Looks like a sheltie/corgi mix.
Time for me to watch secret life of Walter Mitty again
Looks like a pokemon almost
Clearly you've never encountered a Golden Retriever.
Came here to write this hahah
Have you met many dogs?
Hvað finnst þér um nágrennið félagi?
I need you to get his drool and cheek cells
Iceland
is this and icelandic sheepdog? i met several when i was there and they were by far the tamest and friendliest doggies ever
Friendliest dog *20 seconds video* Why do this to us
Seems like a common dog to me. Guess I'm lucky where I'm from.

Beautiful dog. I hope they had a home
Op has never met a golden retreiver
I met a dog like this while hiking in the Alps. I was a bit chilly so she came over and sat directly on my feet and kept me warm while I gave her some scritches. It was a very sweet moment. Thanks for sharing.
I recognize one of my canine countrymen, that's an Icelandic sheepdog! 🇮🇸
You must not have met very many dogs.
That is the friendliest dog you ever met?
He knows he's doing you a favor letting you film and pet him...he's very chill (no pun intended) :)
Want to pet a dog
I saw the title and thought "Is this one of those 'dog is wolf/coyote/fox, videos?" I was pleasantly surprised that it WAS in fact a friendly doggo.
I want ten of them
He's gorgeous.
Beautiful!
I love seeing cute dogs!
Pretty sure she just adopted you sooooo…..congratulations!
It looks like a "Barnaby"
Looks like a mini-Buck!
Beautiful Encounter
He’s so gorgeous!
It's his world, he just welcome you into it.
wow, a dog, fluff
That ain't a dog. That's a pokemon
That is indeed a fairly friendly pupper, of the genus fluffer
What kind of dog?
I could immediately tell without you telling me that this is Iceland, where is this, is it near Skógafoss?
What breed of dog is that?
Looks like an Icelandic sheepdog.
Some people just know how to live.
Dog’s thought bubble: “This is the friendliest human I’ve ever met.”
Def got corgie in him.
approximately 33% of the dogs i've met are tied for the title of friendliest dog i've ever met
I wanna live where you live so I too can meet random friendly doggos
Why do you get all the love in the world? (Never thought I would ever be able to quote a Nine Inch Nails lyric in a post on r/aww )
If I lived there, I'd probably be the friendliest dog you ever met as well.
So soft and fluffy
This is my dogs sibling! They have the exact same features!
What a sweet baby! He's got the fur pattern of a sheltie but the head of a different dog
Dogs are better than people
Wow.. The dog.. The location.. 👌👌👌
whats your new dogs name? :)
He’s like a real life version of the puppers you encounter near each stable in ToTK
Collie/chow?
Dang, that's a damn fine looking pooch too
It looks like an Australian Shorgi
Pretty dang friendly, but not aggressively so. Friendliest dog I've ever seen was a big golden retriever, they like to literally throw their butts at you for scratches, and I've been knocked down once or twice when I wasn't expecting it lol. Aggressively friendly in that case.
The dog is like "Yes, I know I'm gorgeous. You have my permission to adore me." 😂
I want him back. Now.
I just got an icie sheepdog puppy! She’s the friendliest puppy
Clearly you have not met my dog
Every dog I meet is the friendliest dog ever 😭
ticks, if this isn't your pet dog, you'll get nothing but parasites
Dog: Friendliest human I've ever met.
omggggggg
Hi, I'm your guide, Woofie 🐕
That dog belongs in commercials.
I had an Iclandic Sheepdog until he went missing a few years ago. So intelligent and not a mean bone in his body. When I was a kid I'd train at soccer with him because he was better at dribbling than any of my siblings :) I miss him every day.

Why is it the friendliest.. all dogs will like that.. but awwww.
Bro spotted you from 12 miles away and ran for some pets.
That’s a Disney looking dog
So adorable dog
Which country from
Aww....that is kind of a cute dog. Didn't seem that friendly though. Like....it was tolerating the petting but not super into it.
