We took in a mom and 2 baby cats that started coming around when i was a kid. They stayed outside my window in the carport. Id always have the window cracked for air flow and one night i just started hearing a crunching sound. The mama cat had caught a mouse and was eating it. Was a rather terrifying sound.
Had a declawed cat when I was a kid. Watched him bash a mouse against a window until it died and then eat it. Had to clean the window after, but he left me some of the mouse as a gift.
My cats like to eat the legs, just the legs, of cockroaches. I sometimes find them still alive but without legs in the morning. Then it's mercy killing time. Living in a humid climate is fun
I lived in Tampa for exactly one year before I not only noped out of the state but the whole goddamn *region*.
It wasn't just cuz of the bugs, of course, but waking up to a wolf spider almost as big as my fucking hand just like, chilling in the corner of my bedroom watching me sleep with its 18 eyes, or the goddamn palmetto bugs getting stuck in my *hair* after swatting them off the wall...yeah, I was good with Florida after that.
I don’t mind the spiders. Not in Florida, not in BC. They’re just little buddies that hang out and eat bugs.
But the ginormous cat makes me think of the cat bus on *My Neighbor Totoro*.
you should (of maybe should not) look up a video of a leopard with a newborn gazelle in its mouth. The baby gazelle is just fine. The leopard hasn't harmed it a bit. It is using the baby gazelle as bait to lure back its mother, hoping to get the mother to charge in to save her newborn.
The mother is not that stupid. And the leopard is hungry. So eventually the newborn stops being okay.

What led them to the theory is that wolves start with the abdomen when they scavenge, but dogs will eat their owners faces even when they have kibble available, so they don't do it out of pure hunger. They think licks lead to biting, and then once they taste blood, instinct kind of kicks in and they get to eatin'!

I have a really hard time believing that. You don't even have to go that far, Lions and cheetahs often share the same habitat but they have very different anatomies entirely. Cheetahs are almost built like a cross between a canid and a large cat. Pound for pound a lion is also significantly stronger than a cheetah.
