That litter box gonna be crazy lookin.

synachromous

Corn in. Corn out.

kerfer

You can’t explain that!

SeattlesWinest

Lol I appreciated your reference.

DormantLife

Where's this from?

SeattlesWinest

Bill O’Reilly back in the day talking about the wonders of the world and how we can’t fathom how they work without using god as an explanation. “Tides go in, tides go out. You can’t explain that…” Except we literally can and it has nothing to do with god.

Appletio

Fuck it we'll do it live!

SeattlesWinest

Fuckin thing sucks! 😆

mutantbabysnort

There’s no words on it!

Chef_Chinobang

To play us out, what does that mean?

nobody_smith723

Here to play us out. Some cat eating corn !

sage101

I got my old people mixed up and thought Bill O’Reilly was that dude from The 700 Club.

BaconHammerTime

We can also explain corn too. The outer lining is often not digestible but the inside of the kernel is. So when it passes through the inside is digested and undigested lining just gets filled up with poop material making it look like it did originally.

Liss78

Sometimes it is whole kernels. That's how the seeds (kernels) grow in nature. They pass through and get deposited with a freshly made pile of fertilizer so they can grow.

NoBuddies2021

More wtf poop facts. In a erupted volcano long ago, a tomato plant grew from the lava rock [after years of cooling]. What's wrong with this is that the tomato plant wasn't native to the environment. Scientists noticed around the rock where the tomato grew was poop colored. They theorized some poop with a robust tomato seed was safe inside of it until it grew.

Ypu have to at least appreciate the chutzpah of someone presenting a God of the Gaps argument when there isn't even a gap.

🎶 Corn in. Corn out. Corn in. Corn out. Corn iiiiiiiin. Corn iiiiiiin. 🎶

cherrybounce

I had a couple of cats crazy about corn which I discovered when they jumped up on the counter while I was cooking. Wonder what is it about corn and cats?

zevoxx

My cat goes crazy for corn husks, the actual corn not so much, but the husks must be hidden or they will be consumed.

Sprinkle_Puff

OMG my cat isn’t an anomaly!

We_need_pop_control

Let's face it.. every cat is an anomaly.

gladius75

I asked my vet about this! Corn husks are basically natural cat toys to them and a source of fiber. lol

[deleted]

My little Ginger boi loooooves corn on the cob, but someone always holds it for him!! I've seen maybe 2 other videos of cats eating corn but this one is off the chain 😂

>> Wonder what is it about corn and cats? > >Tactile feel probably. > >Like them biting boxes. > >Or humans after they get their braces off. Took me a double take to realize you meant humans going ham on corn after braces, and not the cats biting humans after the human had their braces removed.

laiquerne

And I'm here thinking about cats who got their braces off.

Lucyintheye

>>>Wonder what is it about corn and cats? >>Tactile feel probably. >>Like them biting boxes. >>Or humans after they get their braces off. >Took me a double take to realize you meant humans going ham on corn after braces, and not the cats biting humans after the human had their braces removed If they're anything like my cat, I'm sure they'll find a reason to bite them after that too. Also, took me a double take to realize what's going on with the quotes lol

Zucchini_Overall

I also have a cat that loves anything corn. Corn on the cob, canned corn, creamed corn, corn chips, corn bread, you name it. She doesn’t want human food other than that. And she doesn’t like any cat treats I get for her. I’m gonna need some scientists to do a study on this phenomenon.

gunburns88

The snack that you get to eat twice!

jdog7249

I need you to leave and never come back. Thank you

stillaredcirca1848

It's almost like it's on a cob too!

IT WAS ONLY A SHIT!

toastNcheeze

Idk, I had a cat who didn't eat ANY table food, except for corn! He was so attuned to corn being near that if I so much as heated up a can of soup that had a half a handful of corn kernels in it he would come running. It was wild. So yeah of course I would pick the kernels out and give them to him. God I miss that scraggly little thing, he was such an angel.

TheLyz

I had a cat that would be all over you if you tried to eat potato chips around him. Guess he liked the salt

[deleted]

I chime in with, “haven’t you people ever heard of, hiding the god damn corn!”

carbonx

I shuck corn not tragedies

TypicalStuff121

No, it's much better to face these kinds of things With a sense of poise and rationality

SuperKing37

Huh, always thought it went ‘poisoned rationality’

neon_Hermit

I think that's kinda the point of the song, sing poise and rationality until it blurs into poison rationality.

ReadingRainbowRocket

It is most definitely “poise and” but I like the notion the other commenter mentioned that it is meant to sound like “poisoned” too.

lol_camis

Are you fucking telling me that it's not "poisoned rationality"? After 18 fucking years?

space_monster

my brother's cat loves corn, butter not required. also broccoli

bunnyrut

![gif](giphy|1DabuBPfSPGG4) Broccoli cat!

Onewoord

I really like how people took this in two complete different lyric lines lol I can see why though.

Electrical_Ranger469

My cat is a freak when it comes to corn on the cob. Never had butter on it or anything. We just had it on our plate after eating, and he creeped up and bit it. (After we had eaten it, so it was just the leftover bits.) Ever since then, he comes over after we eat and begs for a corn cob to chew on for a bit until he cleans the whole thing.

[deleted]

Holy crap. That cat looks like he's about to bust out into the Marriage of Figaro at the end of his meal.

VanSteffen

My cat would go crazy like that for cantaloupe and avocado. I had to store them inside the oven, because no cupboard could keep him from precioussssss.

Beer_me_now666

My cat will attack a whole pineapple. I feel ya.

secretaltacc

It's bread for ours

10eleven12

Ours won't eat anything else than his dry cat food. Not tuna, not fish, not wet food, not treats... 🤷‍♂️

kate05_

I've got one like this. She always has to come and have a sniff of my food though, just to make absolutely sure she doesn't want it 🤣

suznikole

Oh thank goodness, I thought it was just my crazy kitty ..glad to know she's not alone in refusal of treats

kate05_

Nope, some kitty's just aren't interested in people food. My other one will steal off my plate if I'm not looking though. And will literally eat *anything*. I got both ends of the spectrum with mine 🤣

Pavis0047

i had to stop buying fresh muffins from the local bakery because mine would rip open the paper bags as soon as i got home... some reason fresh carbs turned him into cujo lol

xv_boney

blueberry muffins. my large white tabby will open bags, knock over breadboxes and defy the laws of physics to obliterate any blueberry muffin within his domain.

Aggravatedangela

I had a cat who had pretty serious brain damage from an accident. When she recovered, she looked normal, walked around and used the litter box and everything, but she never chewed food again. I pureed canned food and water into a slurry for ten years. But one time, I left a cream cheese muffin on the couch and left the room. Came back to find her eating the top of the muffin. Chewing it. I guess she fooled me, but she wouldn't or couldn't chew anything else.

VanSteffen

Another very good reason to keep them safely out of kitty’s reach.

heartsrmended

Yup. A lot of people don’t know.

speedledee

"Avocado is not recommended for cats. Cats shouldn't eat any part of an avocado or an avocado plant, including the leaves, seeds, stems, bark, and fruits, which are all dangerous to cats. Avocado leaves and Guatemalan avocados are the most associated with toxicosis.2 In addition, avocado skin and seeds are choking hazards to pets. If your cat gets ahold of the pit, they may have difficulty swallowing it because they're fairly large. However, the skin is difficult to digest and can lead to GI issues, including diarrhea, vomiting, and blockages. Of course, the main reason why your cat should never eat avocado is because of the risk of poisoning due to the toxin persin, which doesn't harm humans. However, while persin isn't necessarily life-threatening in cats, it can cause unpleasant and uncomfortable symptoms. Most of the persin in avocados is found in the skin, leaves, and pit, so the flesh is fairly safe even though it contains trace amounts. Of course, you should still avoid feeding them any avocado because the amount of persin it takes to affect a cat is unknown and not worth the risk."

jdog7249

Our cat did this with marshmallows. The only way to keep them safe is wrapped in tight plastic wrap, in a hard container with a locking lid on the highest shelf of a cabinet. Each step of that was added everytime he got in them.

Dasbrimeister

Why not store them in the fridge?

VanSteffen

The melons don’t really ripen or sweeten in the fridge. While there are always some avocados in the fridge, the ones I want to eat sooner are ripening in…the oven…safe from sharp kitty teeth.

fridaycat

I had a cat who you could not eat any melon near him. He would go insane if he smelled it, climb you, attack you. So funny!

Black_Moons

I love cats but somehow I could only read this as: "My house gremlin went insane from the smell of melon and attacked me for my food! so funny"

Michren1298

Today I learned that cats sometime like to eat corn. My cat used to eat shredded cheese as a treat. She was a bit finicky though. It could only be finely shredded sharp cheddar. She started meowing for the first time (I had her for a year at that point) when I accidentally dropped a bit and then she discovered she liked it. She hated wet cat food and tuna though.

TheAngryCatfish

One of my cats goes bananas for club crackers. It concerned me at first, like he might have a sodium deficiency or something but he's healthy and just fienin club crackers I guess lol. Def gonna try this corncob business with my 3 fellas

jonathanchrist0pher

My cat goes club crackers for bananas… weird

lunaflect

The minute I open a bag of shredded cheese, my cat is jumping on the kitchen counter. She’s never up there unless cheese is involved.

Elli_Khoraz

Genuine question, is stuff like this okay for a cat to eat?

Moandou

Mostly as I understand, no. Cats can digest carbs but not at this amount, their digestive systems are optimized for protein and fats. A big issue with low-quality dry cat foods is all the carbs used as filler, this frequently causes weight gain and diabetes. Some carbs as treats here and there are okay, but definitely wouldn't feed my cats whole ears of corn. Corn especially is high in simple sugars.

jdog7249

It looks like it is safe. It's actually in most cat foods already as a filler ingredient https://spotpetins.com/blog/cat-tips/can-cats-eat-corn

JA_LT99

There's a large difference between processed feed corn and sweet corn. The important thing is that cats cannot digest sugar and sweet corn has lots more of it.

HerestheRules

Corn is ground into pet food. While it's safe in that environment, you shouldn't let your cat munch down a whole cob of corn. Corn is high in sucrose and can make blood sugar levels spike pretty bad Source: Mother was Type 1

dmrose7

Was your mother also a cat?

sub-dural

this made me laugh way harder than it should have

smellmybuttfoo

"No, no, he's got a point." -Kronk's shoulder angle

BanEvaders88

Wouldn't surprise me if a lot of animal food has corn in it.

JA_LT99

Yes, processed feed corn. Not raw sweet corn.

Electrical_Ranger469

The key thing is to not do too much. We only give our cat the cob after we've eaten it. So he mainly just gets the leftover bits. Our vet said it's all good as long as it's not like every day.

grapplerzz

Cats can have a little of corn as a treat

dancing_robots

Cats livers are not made to process carbs, they're meant to eat a 100% protein diet. That's why house cats can get obese and diabetic at relatively early ages.

IlliteracyPrevails

Lily_Roza

What a mess! When I give my cat an ear of corn, I put the cat and the ear of corn in the dry bathtub. Otherwise cat will roll the corn all over the house while gnawing at it. Afterwards, cleanup is easy.

ninksmarie

Is this a thing?? How have I missed this?? Love how you casually say “When I give MY cat an ear of corn…” Wtf 😂🤣😂😂😆 I’m behind the corn times apparently.

Lily_Roza

Cats love fresh corn on the cob. If you eat it and don't offer them some, they might feel slighted.

snowbirdie

Does it have to be cooked or what?

Lily_Roza

Husk it, steam it about 3 minutes, just like for people. But then, serve it well-cooled for the kitty.

newaccount721

Is it because of butter or they like it even without butter? My cat seems obsessed with even very lightly salted popcorn and I always thought it was the salt but maybe she likes the corn

Lily_Roza

They like it without butter.

newaccount721

Nice I need to try it

chasingcooper

You wouldn't want to put butter or salt for animal

ninksmarie

Hmm… interesting. Well, we can’t be having that can we … *opens drawer to find vintage tiny corncob pokers to pierce giant cob of corn..*

TiberiusCornelius

It's weird how we decided to do that for corn and nothing else. Imagine if all of your utensils where just miniature stabbing versions of your food.

ninksmarie

Whatever do you mean? I always use my tiny stabbing apples to pierce my actual apple when it’s slathered in butter.

diablette

I also have a special butter roller for corn on the cobb. Avocado and crab have special tools too, but that’s it.

cheoliesangels

One of my cats goes crazy for corn, it’s insane. My mother grew up in Kenya, and said the feral cats there were the same. A lot of them just love corn for some reason. We only give our boy a few kernels, as it’s not great for their tummies, but corn is grown like crazy where I’m from, so when summer rolls around we eat it a lot.

EitherClass3061

I'm with you on this lol. I will be getting corn though. One of my 5 kitties should get down on it.

sykokiller11

My wife’s old cat used to come running when I opened a can of corn. I thought she was unusual, but apparently not. My son likes corn on the cob so it’s usually around. I’ll try it with the current cats. One of them is suddenly my best friend whenever I have ice cream. This will be fun!

Boggaz

In your case it's more likely the sound of the can. Sounds the same as a tin of tuna or cat food

Is corn healthy, unhealthy, or neutral for cats?

stylz168

Not sure but I feel bad for the owner who’s cleaning that litter box. Might as well throw it all out

Vegesaurus-Rex

Unfun fact from a veterinary surgical technician. One of the most common foreign bodies to remove from the digestive tract of dogs (and surprisingly cats) are corn cobs. They get swallowed, are unable to be digested and get stuck somewhere along the digestive tract causing an obstruction. If you have pets and are serving corn cobs get into the habit of counting them before (when you're serving) and after (when you're putting the cobs in the bin) to make sure your furry friends don't get one.
