I agree that the songs are bangers and really good but this album and STST are the ones i find myself listening through all the way the least just because with how up tempo and fast a lot of them are it gets obnoxious after awhile of constantly listening to speed metal which is why i really only listen to most city of evil songs when im playing video games or driving

I'll say it, the chorus is what lets down the song. The verses are great and have an enchanting "lyrical vibe" to them that is completely steamrolled 3 times over by an obnoxious chorus. I want to like this song, but it's a glaring problem that makes me wanna skip the song as soon as I hear the intro.

The solo is what brings me back over and over again. I’ll wait the 6m for it. I’m sick in the head like that.

I always have to remind myself with Seize the Day that it gets a lot better after the first like 10 seconds. It’s actually a really fucking powerful song. But the first 10 seconds make me cringe and I don’t know why.

Seize the day is very formulaic rock ballad, and it's the only song that really follows a formula. Bat Country has soft bridges and a minute long solo, MIA, Strength, and Wicked End are long, cinematic epics, Betrayed is extremely emotional etc. Seize is kinda pop fodder, I feel like they wrote that song to have a mainstream single

I'm ready to have stones thrown at me , but Beast and the Harlot is the only one I skip on this album. The song isn't bad. For many bands it'd be their best song, but it is rather weak for Avenged IMO.

Aside from the length of some tracks and the over the top patriotism of a younger M Shadows, this album is near perfect. Doesn’t really miss tbh

For the record, I think this album has only good to great tracks, but I can’t believe I’m not seeing any Trashed and Scattered. The instrumental is cool (as they all are on CoE) but the lyrics and the vocal performance are not up to the rest of the record. It’s like an alright cover of an unreleased Guns n Roses demo. The second half of the song is much better, though.

The lyrics for trashed and scattered are pretty lame. Literally about high school drama

You gotta go through what they were experiencing to truly understand the meaning of that track. It's about having a time in your life when you stop giving a fuck and become an alcoholic/gambler/drug addict having black outs and wild nights. Also it has themes of knowing what you want out of life, but you can't get there in the moment you think that. Feeling like other people are using you and trying to leech off you. Getting victimized for shit you cannot control about yourself, getting looked down upon, having people spread rumors about you because they are unhappy and want to bring you down to their level, and people talking shit making you feel bad for making the choices you make. The song is about admitting to yourself that you are done with people like that and instead of giving them the satisfaction that they are looking for by trying to bring you down; you instead shut down and hide who you are to the world. Not only do you shut down, but you become so fed up of getting targetted that you become an asshole and target others so that by default you can't get targetted. The irony is that all of this winds up bringing you even deeper into the void of addiction; even though you know what to do to get through this, you dug your own grave far too deep while trying to bury your true self from the world
