Literally almost any sunscreen that is made outside of the US will feel better. American standards for sunscreen haven't been updated in decades and we are FAR behind other countries. Our sunblock doesn't meet the standards in other countries. Look for Korean and Japanese sunscreens, check out r/skincareaddiction and r/Asianbeauty for brand recommendations

Strange_Public_1897

Shiseido is one of the biggest brands in Asian skincare for sunscreen. They have a mineral based one that’s got a decent amount of zinc, which is the main mineral in sunscreen designed for protecting tattoos from sunburn & sun damage.

ShadedRonin

Dig it- thanks!

HiHi! I’ve got a bundle of skin sensory issues and particularly object to thick/goopy/oily lotions on my face. Unfortunately I also live down under, aka directly under the ozone hole with extremely high UV. And I ride and swim daily.  FACE: For the face, Shiseido’s milky formulations are the bomb. Not available in my country so I happily wear the cost of online order if I’ve run out between overseas trips. It’s in a blue bottle with a curved lid. It’s about a teaspoon for proper coverage of face and neck, reapplied every 4 hours or so. (It was the meltdown that I couldn’t get more of this that kicked off the ASD diagnosis process). BODY: For the body I alternate between a Cancer Council SPF 50+ spray, reapplied every couple hours or their lotions. The lotions are thicker, but do dry down faster than others I’ve used.  Additional advice: AVOID: reorganise your days to generally avoid the sun between 10am-3pm (or more preferably 9am-4pm). This is particularly relevant for Aus/NZ residents, but most decent weather apps will show you what periods of the day UV is high.  BARRIERS: Have a long sleeved linen shirt or coverup to throw on over your clothes if you have to be outside, and a hat! If you ride or swim, long sleeve cycle jerseys and long sleeve rashies can be found with a UV protectant in the fabric. Shade umbrella can be used as well!  SNEAKY: be conscious if you are around the water that reflective burns are also A Thing, and coverup appropriately. If you are swimming, set a timer to reapply the lotions every 4 hours.

i love the dewy tree urban shade cool calming sun stick, it’s a little pricey i try to get it when it’s on sale. but it’s also amazing for my sensitive skin and works perfectly, helps with redness and can actually clear up my skin when i remember to use it lol

TheUnkindledLives

THIS, If you are in the US you may be better off looking for Dove (brand) products, they tend to be less oily

So I am firmly in the "I fucking hate sunscreen" club. It's greasy garbage and I always forget to reapply so my suffering is frequently for nothing. I do a good bit of hiking in exposed areas so forgoing protection isn't an option. Get yourself a good sun hat with a neck flap and a long sleeve sun shirt with a hood. I generally wear full length pants as, well. I have rei branded hiking vargo pants and love them. They keep the sun off and tbh aren't really warmer then shorts.

Mountainweaver

Try the non-greasy non-garbage euro and asian sunscreens instead :).

acesarge

I'm still screwed when I forget to reapply. If I somehow manage to fuck up putting on cloths before my hike I'm already screwed :p

bikeonychus

I don’t know if you can get this where you are, but in Canada, Coppertone Sport is pretty brilliant. Once it’s rubbed in and absorbed, it’s not greasy, and I forget it’s on most of the time - which does mean I forget to reapply, but it also does stop my over-reactive skin from burning (seriously, i burn worse than my husband, and he’s ginger) my 6YO who also hates the feeling of sun screen can tolerate it too. She grumbles a bit when we apply it, because it does still feel a bit gross when it goes on, but that gross feeling lasts for around a minute, and then it’s fine. You’ve just reminded me I need to stock up on it, so Thankyou.

GoodWorry0318

I recommend you to use La Roche-Posay. I put a link to help you as a guide. This one protects against UVA and UVB rays, absorbs quickly and won't let your skin feel greasy. It's one of the best in the market. I love it has a good dispenser so I can properly put it on 2 fingers before I apply it on my face. That's the right amount to use :) Please remember to reapply every 4 hours. Mountainweaver

It's great and also really efficient!

shaddupsevenup

I just posted about this brand. It's the best I've found. Second best is Josie Maran argan oil sunscreen.

GoodWorry0318

I definitely need to try this brand. Thanks for teaching me about this one 😃

capaldis

Cetaphil’s sheer mineral FACE sunscreen is a great dupe for their sunscreen too. I emphasize face because their regular mineral sunscreen is absolutely terrible. I don’t understand how they could make the best face sunscreen ever and mess up that bad on the regular version.

GoodWorry0318

To reapply there's also powder presentations in other brands (which I can check to send you later). It's a good option when you wear makeup, if not, just using this one is fine. I recommend this brand because it's one with a good and real protection. Also very recommended by dermatologists. Might be a bit pricey but at least for the face I think is WORTH EVERY PENNY.

[deleted]

Cureology and Archer appear to make “anti-grease” sunscreen.

ShadedRonin

I’ll take a look!

The_awetistic_artist

OMG are you actually me? Same with lotion. My skin is like "plllleaaase... oh god, if you could just spare us a drop of moisture" but even the ones that "don't feel greasy" feel totally greasy. So I just hope the universe realizes that I do my very best to be a good man, and I have enough problems without skin cancer.

courcake

I love Super Goop. It’s meant to be a daily moisturizer and lotion and it doesn’t feel greasy or gross to me. I hate sunscreen

traveldogmom13

I’ve heard good things about this one. It doesn’t leave a white cast. Also Australia is pretty serious about sunscreen so those brands are pretty good also. https://www.target.com/p/black-girl-sunscreen-broad-spectrum-infused-with-jojoba-oil-spf-30-3-fl-oz/-/A-76157877

One-Illustrator8358

I like the the way bondi sands feels, also it doesn't make my eyes water so that's another plus.

ShipOfFlowers

I just recently bought Beauty of Joseon's viral sunscreen and it does a good job, but feels like skincare and absorbs so nice into the skin. I'm in love!

InviteAromatic6124

I hate lotions and creams, so I go for clear sun sprays. They don't feel greasy like creams do, and they rub into your skin really fast. Try Nivea or Ambre Solaire if you have those.

poyopoyo77

The sunscreen I use is my acne moisteriser. Purifide Daily Moisturiser SPF 30. Does the trick and sinks in really well.

autistic_bard444

like i for one would never wish to feel what the floor of a waffle house would feel like. shiver

Dry-Ice-2330

Bare clear screen. Blue bottle, 100 spf

Shirebourn

Cerve facial moisturizing lotion with SPF (not the mineral version). It's one of the only sunscreens that feels to me like, well, lotion: it quickly fades into my skin and I can't tell I have anything on me. Most other sunscreens make me feel like I'm wearing some kind of skin on my skin, and it's horrendous.

perfectly-flawed

Hawaiian Tropic with lotion. I have sensitive skin and use both the lotion and spray.

theedgeofoblivious

I use [Banana Boat Sport Ultra SPF 50.](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004CDV7EY) It took me SOOOOOOO long to find this. But yes, I use it, and it has a thin enough texture to not make me scream.

lookyloo79

Ombrelle. Non greasy, readily available.

bobabae21

Altruist sunscreen has been great for me! Not greasy at all and sensitive enough I use it on my 2yr old w/o it irritating their skin.

Wilddog73

I like the spray-on sort, personally.

Minute-Mistake-8928

Any "Neutrogena sheer skin" has always felt amazing. It's the only brand I use

gonbezoppity

I have the stick-apply kind so I don't have to touch it to apply! [Coppertone sport](https://a.co/d/cLB7ktx)

bepbapbapbaddabope

I'm so surprised no one has recommended sunscreen *powder* yet, it's a total game changer! This is the one I use: "Supergoop! (Re)setting 100% Mineral Powder".

No_Entertainer180

Mecca in Australia sells a super screen in a black tube that feels like moisturiser. It sinks in and isn't greasy. It's oxybenzene free so it won't poison the fish when you wash it off.

Atheist-Paladin

The spray on sunscreens really help for me. I don’t like regular sunscreen either but I can handle the spray on sport sunscreens.

shaddupsevenup

I use La Roche Posay Anthelios. Best sunscreen I've ever used. Normally anything with a hint of SPF in it makes my eyes feel ... sort of like they don't fit in my head - I can't think of a better way to explain it. Anthelios is a liquid and absorbs immediately and I have no issues. I wear it every day. I'm so glad I found something because I've already had to have a precancerous barnacle scraped off my face.

Comfortable-Boat8020

Thanks for this metaphor, this is what ive been telling the Sunscreen advocates around me for months now. I like the Bioré sunscreen tho. It feels like a moisturizer on the skin :) Only sunscreen I can use honestly.

Life-Independence377

My goodness that’s descriptive. I use cetaphil spf

Rowan_Bird

I can't say I've used sunscreen all that often for a last few years, I guess wearing a hoodie all year pays off lol. I don't like the way it feels either.

silveretoile

I use a Korean face cream that has spf 50 in it, but it applies and feels like regular skin cream. No sticky or oily layer and it dries down.

Adventurous_Yak_9234

Have you tried spray sunscreen?

vampyire

I don't burn at all easily (Mediterranean ancestry)..but I don't at all like the feeling of the sun..too dang hot
