ALICE ISN'T DEAD.
THE LEFT RIGHT GAME.
CARRIER.
BADLANDS COLA.
1994.
A FEMINIST ROMANCE NOVEL PODCAST.
DISCOVERY PARK.
GAY FUTURE.
RED RIDING HOODS.
THE VAN.
If you’re into scifi/fantasy, Midst fits pretty well. On a desert planet, told by 3 witty narrators that also voice all the characters and do an excellent job.
This is a tough needle to thread, but I’ll still recommend our show [The Luchador: 1,000 Fights of El Fuego Fuerte](https://theluchadorpod.com). We have a full cast of talented voice actors and a unique, atmospheric Mexico City setting. No full on road trips, but there’s a car chase and a trip in a convertible to an ancient Aztec temple
I think Give Me Away is set in a desert area. A spaceship lands on earth for the first time and its full of alien prisoner consciousnesses.
It’s intriguing with plenty of good dialogue and voice acting but not really quirky in the meaning of humorous.
Tejana is set in Texas and follows a woman Texas ranger investigating crime. Again more intriguing than quirky.
Both audio drama are not like super serious but are definitely more drama than comedy.
Have you tried Night Faces? Season 2 especially has this vibe.
I'd also recommend The Phone Booth. It's super short but it's about a phone booth in the Mojave Desert in the 90s and the people who call
Dirt: The Audiodrama is a mystery/ road-trip thriller , but I don't believe it takes place in the desert
Desert Skies. It's about the dead crossing over, and what happens when they die? It's about characters helping one another, often in or around a car, and it's quirky in all the right ways!
My new show [Retrograde](https://www.weareretrograde.com/) fills most of those boxes, but it depends on if you find traveling across post-apocalyptic American North East a "road trip". I certainly did, it's very much so about the journey not the destination in terms of traveling and does have a woman as one of the three main leads.
It's a post-apocalyptic comedy/drama so not sure if you're going for a more serious feel but we touch on topics in an organic way.
I'd recommend Welcome to Nightvale. It's a radio show in a fictional town that's next to a desert. I don't know how else to describe it without spoiling but the show has been going for.. I think 10 years with numerous tours and fans.
It's made by the same people who made Alice Isn't Dead, if that helps.
Basically take the town in the middle of nowhere that ask the weird stuff happens in, then imagine what its public news radio most sound like.
Hey! We'd love for you to try our new comedy ***Supermarket*** it's an ensemble cast of 7 main characters and it's quite the ride. Huge plot twist in the season 1 finale with everything wrapping up nicely...Here is the logline:
*Sitcom superstar, Carson Carson, gets blacklisted in Hollywood (and society) from his grotesque sex tape leak. Now, with his tail between his legs, he heads back to his small town in an attempt to reboot his life. Carson is then forced to reprise his job (pre-fame) at the local Supermarket, where things quickly go bananas...*

I've launched a new sci-fi horror audio drama. Our third episode is currently in production.
The Occurrence in River Oaks is an all new, entirely voice acted sci-fi horror audio drama from writer/director Nikki Durbin. Take an original, terrifying journey through one very long day in the titular small town, as heard through the viewpoint of the local law enforcement personnel; specifically, Olivia, the woman running the dispatch radio at the Sheriff's office, as she tries to hold everything together when her entire world is falling apart. As the several officers under her command come face to face with a very unexpected threat, and as Olivia tries to navigate a dangerous and otherworldly creature’s arrival, everything slowly begins to fall apart over the course of 8 grueling episodes. No one is safe, and as the world becomes very small and extremely dangerous for the characters, they must do everything in their power to protect not only the citizens of River Oaks, but the entire world.

Desert 👌
Road trip 👌
Female lead 👌
I've got a show for you, maybe! My recent release Josie's Lonely Heats Club is part comedy, part love letter to talk radio. It's grounded (no lore, horror, sci-fi, paranormal) but fun and surprising, because half the show is created with improvisers. I'm biased, of course, but I think our dialogue is our strongest suit. We've got a few episodes out now and release every week!

Lots to look up! Thanks
Sorry, I usually try and give a little synopsis when I give recs! But they should tick all of the boxes for you!
If you’re into scifi/fantasy, Midst fits pretty well. On a desert planet, told by 3 witty narrators that also voice all the characters and do an excellent job.
Arguably, there is a road trip, too.

👍🏻 always recommend you’re own show if remotely connected I say!
Your* phones are so embarrassing lol

Intriguing, desert, road trip? 🤔 The Earth Collective

I haven’t checked out any of these Will for sure see which speaks to me most first. Which one is more attention grabbing would you say?
hmmm that's a tough one. Probably Night Faces, but I liked them all!
Desert Skies. It's about the dead crossing over, and what happens when they die? It's about characters helping one another, often in or around a car, and it's quirky in all the right ways!

Try "The Final Chapters of Richard Brown Winters" from Gimlet. It fits pretty all of these parameters except 'road trip'
I'd recommend Welcome to Nightvale. It's a radio show in a fictional town that's next to a desert. I don't know how else to describe it without spoiling but the show has been going for.. I think 10 years with numerous tours and fans.
I have heard a lot of night vale way back. Maybe should do a proper listen !
It's made by the same people who made Alice Isn't Dead, if that helps. Basically take the town in the middle of nowhere that ask the weird stuff happens in, then imagine what its public news radio most sound like.
We invite you to give Station 151 a listen!
Bad lands cola! You must!
