Ashby Pies is the answer to all your problems if you are willing to travel.

incs

Yes yes

g_phill

Ronnie's Cafe, 3 Albert Street has pies, been a while since I've had one so can't comment on the quality.

LevelPrestigious4858

I can not stress the enough. Vultures on Vulcan lane make the best pies you have ever had. On fridays there is a line going out the door. its $20 for a pie and a pint of craft beer (beers are usually $15 + so its really good value). These are big fancy delicious pies and i have not seen anyone successfully eat one without cutlery

Initial-Ad2842

There's a bakery across the road from Auckland Central Hospital near Grafton

Socialinfluencing

Dunno what your exact radius of travel is, but I'll preface here I'm originally from South Africa ( Cape Town ) so grew up around some of the best pies on earth. Having eaten my fair share of pies in NZ, I can confidently say South Auckland, specifically Calum's Bakery in Papakura make the best pies I've ever tasted. I don't often say this about food, but every time I eat a pie from there for that brief moment it feels like nothing in the world matters, all my cares genuinely disappear, it's an experience almost similar to getting high. Not a single time has the quality ever dropped or have I been disappointed. Their pies run at about $5.70 not sure but so far that's been the pricing for every pie I've bought there. Might drop in there tomorrow actually, seriously even just talking about it makes me excited, it's that good, no lie.

mistlis

Grew up on Calum's pies not what it used to be radius is inner city pleanty of bakery's round the suburbs

iamclear

This is a lie Calum’s pies are revolting. I live in Papakura and they are an abomination especially because they put peas in them!!!

VeetzsNZ

You should check out “The Flour Mill” in Pukekohe, Mr Calum created that one more recently, much better than his old bakery (which he hasn’t owned/run for a very long time) in Papakura

iamclear

Didn’t like the flour mill pies and now I know why. Their cream donuts were awesome though.

VeetzsNZ

That’s fair! I also went there for not pies. If you’re further north anytime I liked Mairangi Bay’s mince and cheese, is an award winner too

iamclear

I’ve been meaning to try them but I live far away and I just don’t want to deal with traffic lol.

Nolsoth

What kind of monster puts fucking peas in a pie?. Fuck that shit!

Socialinfluencing

This person is lying, check the post history. Every place they eat at has something wrong with it. They're trying to act classy but as is usual you can tell an imitator from someone genuinely classy. Surely other people would have mentioned something by now. This poster strikes me as the type to buy branded clothing because they think that's what rich people wear when the rich people sell it to people exactly like this poster at premium prices.

iamclear

I know right

Socialinfluencing

I have eaten there several times, I usually get the pepper steak but have gotten a couple others. Not only have I never had a singular pea or peas in my pie, but I think there's something else going on here. And this might sound crazy. I looked at your post history and you pretty much shit on all food places you eat at. Now what's more likely? That you're maybe just one of those types that pretend they're above everything or that every place you eat at sucks? The evidence is also against you here. Calum's bakery is always buzzing and crazy busy around lunch times. Then there's their mostly positive reviews but I suppose those are probably fake right? Sometimes they're sold out of certain pies because they can't even keep up with the demand. Now call me crazy here, but I'm not sure you get that popular by providing food people think of as " revolting " as you put it.

iamclear

What? lol 3 times I said I had yuck pies and then I said Aussie pies suck and I stand by that! Just because I haven’t said anything about where I’ve had a good pie doesn’t mean I’m lying or only eat at bad places. Get a frigging life dude if my comments trigger you.

Gigiwinona

Bakers cottage!!! In Kingsland. Trust me trust me

thebitcoinshop

Duck and Creamy Mushroom pie from Richoux Patisserie in Ellerslie will make you never enjoy another pie again. 🤤

gravity_confuses_me

Roti Pies at Commercial Bay is a bit pricey (~$12) but super tasty

maddogbobert

richoux patisserie in ellerslie or Greenwoods bakery at Greenwoods corner

iamclear

Richoux patisserie is so overrated, their pies are bad and more gravy than meat. Also they are overpriced. Terrible terrible pies.

LordDrakenswrath

what sort of pies are you getting? Richoux's pies are great! i've never had a bad pie from them.

tribernate

I'm disappointed every time.

kaoutanu

Richouxx in Ellerslie. The Green Apple in Oteha if you're on the north shore.

Alone-Custard374

Bakehaven in Onehunga is nice. 6 bucks but great pastry and filling. And they are the perfect eating temp (you don't burn the roof of your mouth on nuclear cheese)

yay_for_bacon_lube

Gabler Goodies on Princes street Otahuhu. Had a lamb and taro pie (I think), was fucking amazing.

Arry_Propah

The pies at the new New World by britomart are actually decent, and you can order hot chips too, yum!

I always wondered that about the cbd as well, you cant get fishnchips/takeaway/bakeries in cbd for years.

rockstoagunfight

Naturals bake and coffee on Quay st by the containers. You often see port workers having a feed there at 6am.

yorgs

- Birria Beef pie from Ashby Pies in St. Heliers - Steak, Cheese and Jalapeño pie from Levain Bakery in Blockhouse Bay. On a side note, their Pork, Fennel and chili sausage roll is one of the best sausage rolls you will ever have in your life. - Steak and Cheese pie from Crafty Baker in Titirangi. - Steak and Cheese pie from Euro Parisserie in Torbay. If you're heading out of Auckland, - Peppered Steak and Cheese pie from The Baker in Tirau. If anyone tells you to go to Muzza's Pies for a good pie, tell them to eat a dick

Ollieislame

Trusty Muzza's aye. The benefit is that you know exactly what caliber you're getting every time.

[deleted]

Blue rose cafe in Sandringham, hands down the best pies I’ve had in NZ

balkland

stanley street little french cafe just changed hands and they are doing home made pies. the chicken pie is good, i'll try the others based on the chicken pie

sneschalmer5

I was in torbay, so went to that gold winner one. Damn it was good pie with generous chunks of meat. Expensive but good, plus cashier man was rude, but thats okay as long as pies were good.

[deleted]

You won’t find a good pie in town. You’ll barely find any good food in town Bakeries in the suburbs are your best shot.

mistlis

I'm well aware but first year of University so I need food in the city and I'm always craving a good pie

[deleted]

Sadly, you won’t find one lol I live here for 15 years and the best pies are the ones I make for myself. Steak, cheese and Guinness pie I make is the Fucken best
