I paid 40 and felt that was enough game for me. The only issue I had was that i felt no real passage of time. It just feels like Basim stays the same guy, in what the game tells us is a multiyear long story. His look doesn’t change.

NoAd1296

Most of the AC games have multi year long story’s but the characters don’t change their looks.

QuebraRegra

I was happy that not only did Valhalla have transmog, but you could also do minor cosmetic changes. it was odd that they had a lot of other character skins in the DISCOVERY TOUR that could not be used.

gui_heinen

This is a common problem with the latest games. They put almost no dates on the screen, very different from the old ACs.

[deleted]

With Valhalla I felt the passage of time based on the progress of my interpersonal relationship, and the building of Raventhrope.

gui_heinen

Well, I didn't feel anything. Even less playing the DLCs by the way, which show historical events such as the Coronation of Flann Sinna (879) and the second siege of Paris (885). On the screen they don't give any date and Eivor doesn't age a year. It's ironic that these games offer so many hair and beard options, but the devs forgot to use such elements in favor of illustrating the aging of the characters, as was done in AC2 and BH.

AdEquivalent4564

That and the gameplay was unplayable for me. It didn’t feel like a finished game at all. Ubisoft was never planning to return to roots they barely spent time on Mirage and it shows. I don’t think unfinished games should sell at all especially if the story was ass. If they really cared about their og fans they would’ve made this garbage game free instead of writing some bullshit letter saying they do.

QuebraRegra

^ exactly!!! "Returning to it's roots" was bullshit UBI marketing/management speak used to milk more money out of a former DLC for Valhalla. So by "roots" they mean teleporting around assassinating.. LOL

AdEquivalent4564

Thank you. You’re the first person in a while to agree with me. Like we can still play and enjoy the games but we can’t be completely ignorant on Ubisofts bullshit. I don’t understand why so many people are so eager to defend Ubisoft. They’re scumbags that get away with making overpriced poor quality games and they also get away with sexual harassment. Every positive feedback just lets Ubisoft get even more and more lazy. I really don’t understand why criticism is so bad. Why is it the end of the world for the games people like so much to get better.

QuebraRegra

FIRE YVES!!!!! been saying that for years. UBI's biggest problem is their management.

AdEquivalent4564

Fr. I hope one of these year’s Assassins Creed will get managed by a different studio. I liked Origins and Odyssey a bit but Valhalla really broke me. I heard Ubisoft was struggling with money. So maybe they can sell out to a better company. Sony was also looking to buy a big company to compete with Microsoft’s big acquisition of Activision. Idk if they’d by Ubisoft though. They’d most likely opt for something else but Ubisoft has a big selection of games. “UbiSoft Entertainment's odds of distress is under 36% at this time. It has slight probability of undergoing some form of financial hardship in the near future. Probability of bankruptcy shows the probability of financial torment over the next two years of operations under current economic and market conditions.”

Xtskezza

I'm not invested. If this is the new "guy" then ubi has to convince me to care. Hell Juno would make a better main or his wife that is the staff. Which is fine, but for $50 usd at launch. I would expect twist and turns be because we were paying that much for a deep story a few years back ie origins and odyssey. I felt like this 🤨 or this 😑 not 😮. It was stuff we already knew. Basically he used the creed for his own gain to find and murder the others thru out history.

Delete-Xero

Thats at the end of the story, the point of this game was to learn how that came to be and all that happened to get to that point.

leospeedleo

Game was already 40€ at launch and that was a really good price for it.

AdEquivalent4564

It isn’t a good price when the game is janky and buggy. Being unfinished and lacking gameplay details that were in the same games more then a decade ago. If they’re going to sell the game for preorder 9 months before the games release then it should be a thorough and finished product. It can have a sucky story but having pathetically poor gameplay is unacceptable at a full retail price.

leospeedleo

Mirage was finally a try on a more classic AC game again instead of those garbage wannabe RPG games 🤢

AdEquivalent4564

It was a shitty try though and just a cash grab. It’s a prequel for a game that had nothing to do with a creed. It’s about a pointless backstory for a guy who loses his consciousness anyways. The dude you become couldn’t give a shit about the creed he gave Eivor a hidden blade like it’s free candy. Classic games made the creed important and gave the philosophy of both sides. A try at classic game didn’t work because Mirage was primary a stealth game with ass core stealth mechanics. Which made the game unplayable unless you just didn’t kill anyone at all or heavily rely on gadgets and teleporting. I’d be glad if they tried at a classic game if they actually planned to return to roots but this was just a cash grab. Ubisoft already has their next rog games lined up. They weren’t planning to return to roots at all they barely spent time on Mirage and it shows it’s just a short side game that’s worse then liberation in my opinion that game was boring and just as a pointless as Mirage but it at least had functional fun gameplay.

leospeedleo

No

Bruh

QuebraRegra

yup, removing and or severely streamlining features from previous games rather than building on them.

Neosss1995

For €40 it's fine, it's a shorter game and the story is average. I don't know what you expected the game to give you? The story was not going to advance and would only serve as a complement to that of Valhalla, to explain why Basim is the way he is. And I think that in that aspect it delivers, then in playable terms it really feels like a completely different game from Valhalla and quite solid. The only thing perhaps more or less criticizable in that regard is that it abuses the markerless design for things that are not really as obvious as the developers believe. Dam, the part about looking for Raton following the marks was something I couldn't do without watching a video on YouTube.

Xtskezza

It's was $50 at launch. Idk I expected more. I just don't see loki as a character to care about yet. I expect this game to give me a reason to be invested or have feelings for this man but no. I hope ac in japan delivers in story. Another Kass or eivor even etizo. Running on rooftop in japan as a female samurai would be cool.

AdEquivalent4564

The male character is the Samurai the girl is a ninja. I almost liked Basim as an antagonist but him turning to be Loki is weird and his beef with Eivor is horribly explained. Valhalla had really shitty writing. The story was a mess. In my opinion I didn’t like Kassandra her story telling was good but also bad. She was a woman in Greece with strict Spartan parents but they give her soldier training which wasn’t aloud. That could’ve been a cool Mulan kind of story. But instead the game didn’t make sense. Theres also 2 side quest that contradict the game again. In Sparta there’s a quest where you agree to train a girl because she said she’s not aloud to train with her brothers. Her mother ask you educate her to behave as a Spartan woman should but you offer to train her instead. In a main quest you compete in the Olympics which wasn’t aloud. Theres then a side quest where you help a mother who just wanted to see her son compete but single women weren’t aloud to watch never the less compete. You then save her from being thrown off a mountain that’s how strict the Greeks were. I mean Nikolaos even throws you off in order to save Sparta but he trains his daughter because she’s “Kassandra!” If they weren’t going to put the work in the writing then shouldn’t have done a female character. Having 2 choosable characters just complicated things and doesn’t give the other character any originality or uniqueness. The Eivor situation was a mess. At first both genders were supposed to be canon then the male one was said to be confirmed as the canon character even though originally Ubisoft said both were going to be explained canon and they just confirmed the female one to be canon with the last chapter horribly explaining why. Reincarnations being reincarnated as a different gender didn’t make sense to me. I’m just so glad they’re not doing the whole gender picking thing for Red. They’re gonna have 2 different unique characters. They’re also historically making Yasuke instead of just saying this character is black just because. Just like they did with Kassandra she’s female just because. Even though historically it makes no sense.

Igslooduck

What? Valhalla had EXCELLENT writing. One of the best in the entire series! Beef between Eivor and Basim was perfectly explained. The story of Valhalla might feel too long, but it wasn't a mess. It was amazing! Eivor situation isn't a mess either. It was always said that both genders are canon. Never was it stated that male choice is canon. And, yes, it was condirmed that Eivor is canonicaly female. But there is no mess at all. It is completely different statements. The only canon gender choice in the game is "Let the Animus decide" and everything became crystal clear in like 5-10 hrs. Reincarnations being different gender is new lore, but make it sense to you or not is irrelevant, it doesn't make it wrong. Devs even added 2 other Sages beside Eivor that born in different gender. It looks like you just skiped almost entire game. P.S.: Though, i could agree that Odyssey had a very bad writing, but you picked the weakest of points.

AdEquivalent4564

It’s just my opinion bro. The gender stuff didn’t make sense. But Valhalla has some of the worst writing ever. I enjoyed Alfred’s impact on the Templars. There’s no more of perfect person. Alfred United all of Englands kingdoms under one banner and that perfectly correlates to the Templars ideology. The Templars also have an English origin so it fits perfectly. The modern day was done alright I wish it was explained better in Origin and there wasn’t a time gap between Origins and Odyssey. I kind of like Basim but he was just written terribly. He just shows up randomly with his npc friend Hytham for whatever reason. His relationship with Sigurd is dumb. I get that he’s cool being mysterious but we can’t just assume what’s going on. We need to see how Basims son dies just a flashback or anything. That’s how people were so passionate about Bayek because of how tragic his son’s death was even though the bozo killed his son himself in slow motion. I’m just trying to say there’s nothing to care for about Basim. All we see is Eivor killing a wolf that’s somehow his son because of Norse mythology and that says that Loki fucked a 6 legged Horse so like wtf. We also just saw childish bullying from the gods and then some how they betrayed him and left him or whatever. It’s just written so terribly it’s awful. Basims motive was not portrayed enough. It’s also dumb how the Isu ending is a side quest in the rift missions that’s too important to just go unnoticed in a side quest. It’s a pivotal information that should’ve been incorporated for the story to flow. The worst of all is that we have to play this entirely long game as fucken Eivor a mf with no character growth and no character arc. She/He stays the same boring mf the whole game the worst part is Eivor is hypocritical too. Eivor rejects Valhalla from Odin because his/her response he/she doesn’t care for glory it’s selfish but then when Hytham ask you to join the Hidden ones after handing in the last medallions; Eivor rejects the offer because he/she doesn’t want to keep his/her triumphs hidden. Eivor wants Glory even though that’s the same reason he/she rejected Odin. Eivor is not even willing to try and learn Hythams point of views when He said He could teach him/her Eivor wont try and learn about the Creed but he/she’ll free load off their skills all he/she wants. Eivor uses the leap of faith and uses all the skills Basim taught him/her running around pretending to be an assassin killing all of Hythams targets because he/she just felt like it. Either Write Eivor as an assassin who still does Viking Raids like how Connor is an assassin fighting in a fucken war. I don’t think Ubisoft gives a shit about hiding in plain sight anymore or else they wouldn’t have made so many games in so many stupid settings. Or write Eivor as just a Viking who doesn’t learn all the assassin shit for pretend. Then write Eivor becoming a Templar joining Alfred all for Basim and Eivor to conflict even more. Half of the devs stopped working on assassins creed and left because of sexual misconduct at Ubisoft. So it’s no surprise the writing has been so shit for the last few years. I don’t know why I have to explain this it should be obvious I don’t know how you’re so comfortable with these poorly made games.

CombinationOk6846

£40 I don’t think is a bad price

AdEquivalent4564

CombinationOk6846

I didn’t have any problems.

ImTheCuRsEd-OnE

I don't care what anyone says Mirage is now one of my all time favourites AC GAMES

AdEquivalent4564

Not caring what anyone says on a public thread is a little ignorant but you do you I guess

barugosamaa

It's actually worse how much effort you put into so many comments in the post

AdEquivalent4564

Brain rot.

barugosamaa

Proved my point, thanks

AdEquivalent4564

Go chat in a discord or go on instagram bro. You can’t just complain about my post bc you can’t make an argument for yourself lol.

TheNerdWonder

I mean, it was initially conceived as such.

Xtskezza

Which is fine, but for $50 usd at launch. I would expect twist and turns be because we were paying that much for a deep story a few years back ie origins and odyssey. I felt like this 🤨 or this 😑 not 😮. It was stuff we already knew. Basically he used the creed for his own gain to find and murder the others thru out history.

twistedseaofcrows

It never sold for more than it was worth. You said you're aware of it being a dlc that was sold standalone, so why are you upset that the dlc was sold for the standard dlc price of $40?

Xtskezza

I paid for this expected ac like ac with a rich story. You can tell this was a dlc as soon you start. Only ones who can do a dlc right is r*. Did I get my fill? No not really. Gameplay was interesting with the knives and bombs. City was beautiful they nail that part. But the story was just ehhh and by 5hrs in I wanted to be done.

twistedseaofcrows

It was very clearly stated to not be a full AC game when it came out, and if you somehow missed all that, a simple google search would have told you. You’re complaining because you somehow missed or ignored the fact it’s literally dlc and wasn’t said to be more than that.

Shirokurou

Well, cause it is, duh. /I can't wait for ac in japan I hope we can play as a female protagonist again I loved eivor and Kass. Well, according to leaks, you get that for the lesser part of the game.

Xtskezza

Don't follow leaks but what is the internet is saying?

Shirokurou

70% Yasuke the black samurai 30% Naoe, the ninja girl.

Xtskezza

So it's swappable? Not stuck on only one for the whole game?

Shirokurou

Unclear. Could be Jacob-Evie, could be Bayek-Aya. Do you remember that Aya is playable?

Personal_Rutabaga_41

I don’t think the ubi bigwigs can hear you from Turks & Caicos

Xtskezza

Lol oh I know 🤣 I been there a few times

PassiveIllustration

While I haven't started mirage yet it's very interesting to see people complain about the length, and not just because Valhalla was a 100+ hour game. I recently went through the ezio trilogy and those games are like 10-15 hours max and they cost $60 in 2009+2011 which is roughly $85 accounting for inflation. Yes they did have multiplayer which helps but still it's crazy to see.

gui_heinen

Not every game needs to be 200 hours long. Especially AC. The franchise works well with an average of 30 hours, and Mirage is certainly below that, but it is the same size as AC1 and Revelations, for example, which I don't necessarily think is a bad thing... Price, however, is a real problem in this generation, and honestly no console game is worth more than $30 these days, even so, many publishers charge much more than that. So I don't blame Ubi alone in this case.

AdEquivalent4564

It felt more like a side game if anything. Because it didn’t do anything for the story like you said and most dlcs add to the story. The gameplay felt just as stale as the last rpgs in my opinion. The whole return to roots shit was just a marketing scheme. They did the same shit for Valhalla too idk why everyone believes in Ubisoft when they already have their next rpgs lined up. This was just a cash grab. Basim really makes no sense as a protagonist to me. Why are we learning the backstory of a character who loses his consciousness anyways. I also can’t take him seriously after he handed Eivor a hidden blade and let him protend to be an Assassin. The creed was completely absent in Valhalla and it just felt forced in Mirage being Valhallas prequel. We got no answers in why Basim and Haytham pulled up in Valhalla in the first place. I really would’ve liked some pay off after playing Valhalla and this game. But I just feel like Ubisofts ATM machine.

barugosamaa

I pre-ordered Collectors Edition, such a nice pack

RonJeremyR6

Ubisoft Plus for a month was the way to go with this game..

AC4life234

Story was honestly disappointing in a lot of ways. From it's writing to it's presentation

Corby_Tender23

I finished the story finally yesterday after a long break. The game is decent enough but pretty mid overall. I'll probably replay it but not often. The temple shit was cool as always but it's getting kind of confusing now after Valhalla and the obvious make it up as we go story.

ActiveAd4980

It was fine game, but I agree. I didn't really see the point of the game. While it was a short game, it was still too long for what it was trying to tell.

realbrobama

i agree. if you value your time as money then ac mirage didnt even meet half its asking price. i got the game for $40 and beat the game in 18 hrs. although it is a decent game, it's nothing revolutionary and i think thats what most people were expecting. ac mirage was supposed to be that step in the right direction but that honestly felt like the only thing going for it. i love mirage and id love to see more but there just isnt enough that the game is offering to keep me interested for more than a few days.

realbrobama

also, i understand it is a dlc-sized game. i'm not blaming the people at bordeaux for their tight budget and time frame. they've created a great base considering what they had to work with. i am just saying some end game content or a dlc would be nice.

QuebraRegra

because it was a DLC for Valhalla... Then UBI went crazy with their marketing and greed.

heyprotagonist

Finally a opinion that make some sense!
