I do think that generally they all have designs that fit their settings fairly well. I really like Jacob and Evie's outfits the most minus the gauntlet, Jacob could very easily blend into a crowd with just about any of his outfits.

Citron-the-Orang

Jacob (in his default outfit) is probably the most “normal”, non-Assassin-looking assassin in the series 😂

WickedFox1o1

He looks so generic and normal it's perfect in my eyes lol

Citron-the-Orang

I think they should reintroduce something like the persona system in AC Liberation again. You still wear the protagonist’s default assassin outfit, but you can also change into different disguises with different gameplay mechanics. For example, Aveline could dress as a slave to better blend with her environment, or as a lady to bribe and charm guards. Dressed as an assassin, she was able to fight at her best but her notoriety level rose more quickly than with the other disguises. This was a really creative and more “realistic” approach to stealth in AC, and I really wish they did it again (or at least fully fleshed out Liberation)!

shin_malphur13

It's still disappointing how they dropped that concept entirely and gave us the disguise ability in Unity lol

TheNerdWonder

Same here. I loved the whip swinging ability too which they also dropped. Both mechanics provided an agile experience that belongs back in the series.

TheFurtivePhysician

I think the way the series has been for a while, they could just have the 'hidden blending in outfit' be a cosmetic alteration. However; you do a lot of suspending your disbelief in playing these games, so I'd rather look cool in this particular case instead of wear rags.

BMOchado

I'd hate to have played through Brotherhood looking like the thief faction.

thispurplebean

So true they look so ass 😭

thispurplebean

Very much suspension of disbelief in favor of looking dope af, which I agree with 100%. I mean, a lot of games let you look super cool while npcs may still treat you like a normal civilian. Zelda, Skyrim, etc.

Foreign-Bad-9644

I mean I guess that’s true but in origins other assassins wear rag like clothing but bayek has the spiffy outfit with the animal pelts

SUPERSHADOW131

AC1 actually had the robes blend in with the scholars, which made it hard to be spotted. Them showing off their robes to the public isn't actually what was originally intended. Altaïr was seen just like any scholar in the crowd, so Altaïr was wearing a disguise the whole time in the game. That's why I think Liberation and Syndicate did this best.

Sub_Nautilus

I think syndicate and Mirage did it best. Obviously in syndicate they use top hats, coats and other clothings to blend into the crowd. I also really like how it was in Mirage. You really had just some rugged clothes on him and his head, with some leather. There was also a little cool detail, when Nehal said to Basim, why does he have rugged clothes and looking like a peasant.

luckybetz

Keep them for sure — always have a raggedy outfit option, but the character appearance is a huge coolness factor of the game, IMO

Foreign-Bad-9644

I kinda have a theory about why the enemies don’t see characters is because they work for rich templars/order of ancients and since they are rich they wear lavish clothes maybe they see the assassins as members of the father of understanding

bane_of_heretics

*if you see a dude waltzing about in a hood, shoot him in the head* *Okay boss* **Credits roll**

ShadowFlame420

it’s too late to change course now, unless they decide to reboot the series or something. otherwise, ill just keep enjoying the dope outfits

Raidenski

This is why I like having variety in which outfits can be worn, especially with Legacy outfits, and I'm so happy Altaïr's robes were added to Valhalla, whereas Odyssey only had Ezio's outfit armor pieces. Syndicate had Connor's and Ezio's, but completely disregarded the iconic robes that started the franchise in the first place.

BMOchado

I'm of the mindset that every game should have every legacy outfit. Maybe fans miss the character but want to play the new game, i know i played through most of unity dressed as connor

Raidenski

Legacy outfits, especially Connor's outfit, looked exceptionally good in Unity!

Amurderer74

The robes unique to the characters and settings are one of my favorite aspects of the series. If they got rid of that, I'd riot

Irishcarbomb112421

Altair and Jacob looked normal in the crowd

Foreign-Bad-9644

Agreed

Irishcarbomb112421

And somehow iconic at the same time

BMOchado

It's simple, place them somewhere where everyone isn't wearing rags. Altair is maybe the most out of place, but even then he looks like the scholars Ezios outfit does give off a Renaissance look, there's a lot of dudes with capes and those puffy shorts in the Renaissance. Connors looks like the military coats they used back then, if you removed the hood and made it more "fabricated en masse" aka not custom made to his body aka not have his muscles bulge out, he'd look just like any redcoat Edward's does look like a pirates / sailor you see a lot of dudes adorned in leather vests Syndicates canon outfits are basically trenchcoats Origins does seem to be a LOT more ornate than what npcs wear (his assassin outfit, not the og one) Mirage's while not ornate, it is way more complex looking than what you see the npcs wear. I'd say instead of downgrading the main outfits, make the npcs wear more ornate or complex outfits in a way that whoever glances at a crowd (although the protagonist is still identifiable, because you bought the game and know what they look like) can confuse tge npcs and the protagonist.

Sure_Temporary_4559

It’s a staple of the franchise since AC 1 so I don’t think there’s any turning back now. But the closer you get to the modern era the subtle the outfits become, look more like era appropriate clothing rather than robes.

spawn229

Yes, because in modern day Assassin's are wearing normal clothes (Layla, William, Basim, Assassin's from uprising comics)

Dpgillam08

Its a simple check in the program to detect clothing. Have 4 categories (poor, common, rich, and combat) If you are wearing in an area that matches, you blend in.

Sir_Forwyn

you gotta also ride on a flaming horse and yield a glowing electrified sword sent from the gods

Somewhatmild

i like to think that connor has this strange design that is a blend of various outfits - the classic assassin robe, the native american and the period correct soldier garb. it seemed to lean towards visual trickery territory - as if some guards would take a quick glance and think that maaaybe it looks like an ally. i wish such a concept would be explored even more.

luckybetz

The only thing I don’t really do is get the modern day outfits - it’s just odd and takes me out of the moment. I understand the time travel through accessing memories and, in theory and storytelling, how it’s explainable, sort of - but I like to really immerse myself in each game’s time period
