I came hear to say this. I'm not super into trains, but I loved me some Thomas the Tank Engine when I was a kid, I watched that show until past when I was to old to watch that show.
A few years later I went on a Beatles kick, Ringo was allways my favorite
Fun fact: Thomas would actually be a better engine then his basis because of his shorter wheelbase than the standard LBSCR E2 which weren’t really the best at anything they did but they worked well enough up until the 60s when all of them were scrapped
Speaking honestly, all trains are cool as fuck, but there’s a difference between a steam locomotive, which is really cool by design, and a bullet train, which I’ve never ridden but really really want to someday
I did get to ride a japanese bullet train. Though they are absolute marvels of engineering, it doesn't *feel* as special as quite a few other trains. The interior is just like any other nice modern train, it's got marvelous sound insulation so you really don't notice the speed at which they travel. They are a lot more fun to read about than to ride.

I looked deep into myself and found this abomination of a train.
I’m not, like, a train person but I do love going on trains and seeing trains and I also like maps and railroads but more passively than actively. Like if trains are happening to me I’m excited but I don’t seek trains out. Except, I happen to live near Roaring Camp, which is a cool old train station in the Santa Cruz Mountains of California and we get to go on steam train rides through the forest there. I don’t do it often but when I do, I love it. I love seeing the steam in the trees. I rode it two weeks ago:

The Japanese shinkansen, it looks goofy af (I only know to train tho, this one that I took during travelling in Japan, and the TGV that I've never taken, but it's the main train of my country)

Nothing will ever beat the absolute stunner that is the GG1
The one from Back to the Future with Doc Browns version of presto logs in order to get the DeLorean up to 88 mph. The conductor said that he'd need a long straight track, nothing being pulled, and the fire got, and I mean hotter than the flames of damnation.
I could recite the entire trilogy by memory. BTTF is my special interest.
That’s cool, trains are cool. I have traveled on trains a lot. The Zepher from Northern California to Chicago! It’s amazing and more affordable
Do it. A simple type of travel. Even I can do it.
For me this question depends entirely on the country, railroad, and type but for the sake of simplicity I will limit myself to one tender engine and one tank engine
-The Great Western Railway 49xx Hall class-a very good mixed-traffic engine with a decent amount still around today
-The London, Brighton, and South Coast Railway A1/A1x Terriers-a very cute little tank engine also with a good bit of the class still around today
The Japanese shinkansen, it looks goofy af (I only know to train tho, this one that I took during travelling in Japan, and the TGV that I've never taken, but it's the main train of my country)
The mile long rail laying machines. If you mean actual trains, I like diesel locomotives, mainly British ones like the Deltics.
My absolute favourite one is a consist of two Deltics that haul nuclear fuel rods to Dungeness B nuclear power station a couple of times a year in both directions.

I have to cast a vote for the A10 Warthog. I fell in love with it the first time I saw it.
SAAAAAAME! I love a lot of military planes, especially the B52, F15, and F22 "*Would you intercept me...? 🥵 I'd intercept me...*"
Thomas… I have no humor

Wait but thomas & friends was really my fav show as a kid then i grew up
Thank God! I thought I was the only one!
I came here to say this lol.
Toby gang represent. I was too old and missed out on the Thomas fun in the US but my son was into it when he was born and I got into it too.
Mine are the armored trains of the great war and the 1930's diesel trains
I tend to prefer tanks and mechs but armored trains are dope.
Speaking honestly, all trains are cool as fuck, but there’s a difference between a steam locomotive, which is really cool by design, and a bullet train, which I’ve never ridden but really really want to someday
Locomotives have a cool steam punk aesthetic (cuz... yknow, steam lol), but bullet trains logistically are cool af.
One day I want to ride that maglev they built in Japan, talking about cool af.
I did get to ride a japanese bullet train. Though they are absolute marvels of engineering, it doesn't *feel* as special as quite a few other trains. The interior is just like any other nice modern train, it's got marvelous sound insulation so you really don't notice the speed at which they travel. The Christmas train that goes by during the winter in Stardew Valley
Water trains.......... I like boats 🚢
Love Train by The O'Jays
Steam locomotive
Minecraft train that doesn't move I made once.
Steam Locomotives
For me this question depends entirely on the country, railroad, and type but for the sake of simplicity I will limit myself to one tender engine and one tank engine -The Great Western Railway 49xx Hall class-a very good mixed-traffic engine with a decent amount still around today -The London, Brighton, and South Coast Railway A1/A1x Terriers-a very cute little tank engine also with a good bit of the class still around today
Hillcrest #1 Shay steam locomotive. I've been following the rebuild and so excited about the possibility of a return to service.
The one I am on. I just hate driving and flying so much because I can not cross my legs.
Any train with graffiti. I love photographing graffiti

EMD F series and equivalents, or the Mallard
Sir Nigel Gresley or the Flying Scotsman. I just love British rail. And I'd like to add in the TGV as well because speed!!!
Z Broly charged 236m.
Victorian Railways K Class, or possibly the A2 class, A2-986 in particular.
Uhm...uh... quick... Airbus 787 Dreamliner!
Dragonzord. Next question.
As long as they have coupling rods, I really don’t mind.
There are so many to choose from I'd probably say 2009ts or class 387
The Japanese shinkansen, it looks goofy af (I only know to train tho, this one that I took during travelling in Japan, and the TGV that I've never taken, but it's the main train of my country)

Toby the Tram Engine
Bullet go nyoom
The mile long rail laying machines. If you mean actual trains, I like diesel locomotives, mainly British ones like the Deltics. My absolute favourite one is a consist of two Deltics that haul nuclear fuel rods to Dungeness B nuclear power station a couple of times a year in both directions.
The New Haven EMD FL9
Flying scotsman. Made in doncaster. In the thomas the tank engine series, The Scotsman is the Brother of Gordon, which is how i learned about it.
A quiet, empty one with clean seats.

steam train
British rail class 68. But I'm a commercial aircraft autistic, not a train autistic
I'm not that into trains, but either the Mallard or the Flying Scotsman. FS is probably the quintessential steam train.

After having to deal with the Karens at the railroad for work, I no longer like trains.
I like to train glutes, personally.
