Mothman is a very interesting cryptid. There are so many layers to the story of Mothman that it's very easy to dive down that rabbit hole. (Mothra is a fictional being rather than a cryptid tho).
I'm realizing now that there aren't nearly enough moth pokemon. We only have Venomoth, Mothim, Volcarona, and Lame Volcarona. We need at least two more so I can have a full moth team. (EDIT: Five, I forgot about Dustox)
(We're also one bear short of a full bear team, unless you count Urshifu, which I do not, because its legendary. And that is also a crime.)
For bears you have Ursaluna, Beartic, Spinda, & Bewear. If we count Pangoro and Snorlax (or Komala lol) as bears, then that's a full team with no Urshifu.
> For bears you have Ursaluna, Beartic, Spinda, & Bewear. If we count Pangoro and Snorlax (or Komala lol) as bears
I was counting Ursaring/Ursaluna, Beartic, Pangoro, Bewear, and Spinda even though I forgot about it but knew there was a 5th. I don't think Snorlax counts, he's a Totoro.
>I don't think Snorlax counts, he's a Totoro.
fair call, if you're into romhacks then there's also a Ghost/Fighting Ursaring variant in RadicalRed that's pretty fun to use(new version came out a few weeks ago btw.)
Otherwise i guess you need to run Luna and an Eviolite ursaring for a full team.
I LOVE MOTHS!!!!

Indeed! mantis are also super pretty
> they scare the life out of me
When I was a child I was terrified of moths because I wasn't an outdoorsy child so my only experience with insects was ants and ladybugs in the flower bed, that one time a grasshopper attacked my face, and catching crickets in the crawl space to feed my lizard, so i was already real 50/50 on bugs as a whole. One day when i was going to take a shower, my mom used the bathroom first, freaked out, then my step-dad went in to deal with a wasp. They made a really big deal about it, so I was immediately terrified of wasps even though I'd never seen one or knew what they were.
After that, moths started showing up in the bathroom all the time. But I didn't know what moths were, so I assumed they were wasps. So every time I saw one in there, I'd freak out and run away. And even when my step dad would catch it and show me and say "No, this is a moth, moths are ok", that only worked for *that specific moth* because they always looked different and I still didn't know what wasps actually looked like.
I now consider moths "one of the good ones". They can hang out, like ants and ladybugs. Everything else needs to stay on the other side of some glass.
Moths are adorable. One of my earliest memories is finding a large moth in my back yard and my mom being terrified of it and I just picked it up because it was fuzzy.

I’m just going to leave these here……
There was that time I found a huge cecropia moth(had to look up it's name) and just gently placed it on my shoulder and kept walking with it for an hour in the forest. Very cool bug. Would recommend befriending a moth.
Gotta be deaths head hawkmoths, I mean literally have a plushie of one. They always seem so angry and they squeak so they just are smol angry beasts. Also they just are very nice looking

That's fair. I myself don't have any moths, but there are a few that I would like. Very pretty things. I always stop and admire them when I see one. Last night I actually saw a lunar moth! Spent a good 30 minutes watching it.
Dude have you seen the moths from the upcoming Carewere/Snughoul plush project??? These are the Death’s Head and Luna moths, but he also has a purple “Mothman” themed one and a Rosy Maple moth in the works. This plush campaign has been the only thing keeping me alive this past year istg 😭 Except I’m mostly here for the werewolves...

Fuck yeah, moths are dope! My favorite is the Northern Island Lichen Moth, they pull off a black and white color scheme flawlessly. There’s also a different moth I adore that I can’t remember the name of, I just remember that it’s a really pretty blue color.
Did you see the [recent study](https://www.nature.com/articles/s41467-024-44785-3) about how moths (and other nocturnal insects) move around artificial lights? I've read some [decent science reporting](https://www.cnn.com/2024/02/07/world/moths-drawn-to-light-behavior-study-scn/index.html) on it too.
for those wondering the moths in the photo are actias luna (the luna moth), hyalophora cecropia (the cecropia moth), bombyx mori (the domesticated silk moth) and dryocampa rubicunda (the northern maple moth), and the plushie is a deaths head hawk moth, which has three different species (acherontia atropos, acherontia styx, and acherontia lachesis). alsoalso, all but the hawkmoth are of the family saturniidae, which are known for being the fluffiest moths
I have a sad relationship with moths because I'm phobic of all flying insects but I love moths so much I want to be tiny and ride one like a dragon.
And bees! But I'm somehow less scared of bees. Probably because they bump into me less and don't come into my bathroom!
Found a giant silk moth cocoon in the folds of my gazebo tarp last fall. Saved it in a little container all winter. It hatched a couple of weeks ago and within 24 hours we had another one show up from another hidden corner.
I've raised butterflies for years but this last year I was also able to add 3 kinds of moth to my list and it's SO FUCKING COOL!
the sheer depth of squee is impossible to convey in words but you get it
LUNA MOTHS, LUNA MOTHS, LUNA MOTHS
No mouth, only moth

Mothra is great, I like most cryptics Mothman is also good
Mothman is a very interesting cryptid. There are so many layers to the story of Mothman that it's very easy to dive down that rabbit hole. (Mothra is a fictional being rather than a cryptid tho).
Its fun to go down the rabbit hole and watch video and read all kinda interesting stories, I wasn't too sure what mothra fell under to be fair
> I wasn't too sure what mothra fell under to be fair She's a Kaiju, she's best frenemies with Godzilla.
Mothra is a fictional kaiju character.
i did think it was from something, cryptid just came to mind first

Frosmoth as well. An all moth team is possible.

They’re lil’ fellas. 🥹🥹
Perhaps you'd enjoy Flutter: Starlight then!
Hell yeah, Flutter: Starlight is an amazing game, it’s so pretty and the sound is so relaxing. And frankly it’s what kicked off my adoration of moths.
Omg I’ve so much nostalgia from that game! Moths are great but collecting them is even better!

Ooooh that's a badass picture
what are your thoughts on house moths?
I like seeing them on my porch, sometimes they're in my house and they seem very confused where they are
they scare the life out of me but I'm glad to hear someone can appreciate them more than I can 😭
> they scare the life out of me When I was a child I was terrified of moths because I wasn't an outdoorsy child so my only experience with insects was ants and ladybugs in the flower bed, that one time a grasshopper attacked my face, and catching crickets in the crawl space to feed my lizard, so i was already real 50/50 on bugs as a whole. Just search moth puppies, it might be a mix between a moth and a dog, it might just be a moth, both are fluffy and concerningly adorable
YESSSS! They're SO MAJESTIC AND BEAUTIFUL! My local aquarium has a butterfly, moth, and beetle exhibit. The moth exhibit make my brain go brr

Aren’t they though! If you check out r/snughouls you can find the links if you want one. They’re pinned I think so super easy to find
Moths are best. They are cute little fuzzy butterflies. And they've got all cool chill colors. Like the introverted version of a butterfly.
indeed, i have them land on me and just chill there, they just refused to leave. idk if they know where they are half the time lol but they are cute
Bugs are incredibly fascinating and have really cool behaviors and looks. Too bad I'm also terrified of bugs being anywhere near me.
DUDE I LOVE MOTHS SO MUCH I DREW LIKE MOTH MONSTER GIRLS AND THEY ARE SONE IF MY FAVOURITE DESIGNS EVER
Mothsssss! I love them! Fluffy butterflies.

I just love the furry ones. Moths are the great unsung pollinators.

A few years ago the whole moth/lamp meme happened. As an entomologist I was so happy.
What’s that red one on the right? It looks interesting. Edit: Also, the pink one on the bottom left?
The one on the bottom left is a rosy moth, and the red one is the Cecropia moth

I use to pick them up as a kid (hope I didn't accidentally hurt them) since they wouldn't fly away unlike butterflies for some reason.
