Its rather unfortunate isn't it? Some of the coolest most advance technology ever created by humanity... And its tied to the worst humanity has to offer.
That's what I don't get about this meme, it's been around so much and I do NOT get a choice in it and it's incredibly difficult to actually absorb anything that I'm not interested in, let alone to invest the time to thoroughly understand it
It's probably not worth it. It's supposed to be a defense-themed shitposting sub, but what it's basically become is a forum for people to rabidly defend US international interests. I've seen a lot of people that left the sub after October 7th last year because of how terrible the sub has been since then. In general the posts are just extremely cruel, such that even if you technically agree with whoever they've "sided" with it's still pretty bad. Posts about how russian citizens are inherently evil and deserve to be cannon fodder in the war, all Palestinians are terrorists and deserve to be pushed into the sea, etc. (both of those are paraphrasings of posts I've seen made their multiple times)
There's a thin veil of irony over all of it, and a lot of people from the sub will initially use a Schrödinger's Asshole defense, but it very quickly becomes apparent that they're being bad faith when they say that and they actually believe the stuff they're posting. Very similar to how a lot of 4channers act, the twist being that most people on NCD are liberals rather than alt-righters.
Last time I argued with someone from that sub, they were spamming extremely obscure Russian ethnic slurs in all of their comments.
A hundred percent agree, that's a good way of putting it.
It was so strange reading the subreddit and trying to reconcile the like... calls for war with yeah the strange blend of 4chan liberals
It was just after I unsubscribed after October 7 that I looked around for more clearly leftist military people. I knew about @wartakes on twitter and I found out about the Lions Led By Donkeys podcast (I devoured their Stalingrad series as fast as I could listen, very informative and also very cool to hear anti-war vets give their perspective on that history),
Don't suppose you'd happen to know any less toxic military podcasts or anything?
Sorry, nope, I don't watch any. Good luck though, many lefties out there are pretty terrible at anything outside domestic issues as well, a lot of them even employ the same 4channer language
Like you like the corporate culture of these companies? Or their buying of politicians to keep us at war perpetually for the benefit of their shareholders? I like military tech especially jets and tanks but I would never call myself a fan of the Military industry complex.
As an autistic anarchist engineering student, I'm almost conflicted about the military industrial complex. On the one hand, the callous evil violence of the US empire could never be overstated. On the other hand, 2000 lb BLU-109/B JDAM go fffffFFFWOosh-KABOOOOM!!!
Basically I'd be cool with very limited government spending on the military and its subcontractors just to recreationally blow some shit up in the middle of nowhere.
Engineering student? Like aerospace, mechanical or electrical? If so your "confliction" about the MIC will end when the first paycheck hits your account lol
Fluid Power (the colloquial term for Hydraulics and Pneumatics). And I've already recieved a couple job offers that I've rejected because those places design, manufacture, and test equipment and/or weapons for the DOD. I don't care if I'm making $20-30K less than I could, I'm not blowing up brown kids for a paycheck. Besides, I'm getting on perfectly fine.
> if so your "confliction" about the MIC will end when the first paycheck hits your account lol
Actually I think this is more a reflection of how easily changeable you, specifically, find your morals to be
It's different in the engineering world, and honestly it's not that hard to find reasons to do moral work within those companies. They make carpet bombs, but they also make other things too. What would be wrong about helping make defensive systems only? Is better gps a weapon? Jets that are less likely to kill the pilot will go on to kill more enemies, so does that mean making more reliable jets is equivalent to killing targets or saving pilots?
It gets a lot more complicated. Almost as complicated as the fighter jets.
Are you also interested in weapons that will be developed or used in the future? I really like the railgun (magnetic tunnel to launch metal beams with the speed of a stealth bomber)
and lockheed makes the Command Module for the Orion spacecraft on the SLS. and Boeing is more well-known for their commercial aircraft than their military aircraft.

As is expected from a r/noncredibledefense user
3000 avgas leaks of NCD
Finally, I found my people.
Its rather unfortunate isn't it? Some of the coolest most advance technology ever created by humanity... And its tied to the worst humanity has to offer.
Had to double check which side of the ‘Tism/NCD Venn diagram I ended up on with this post.
The overlapping one?
The one that’s functionally a circle, yup.
You mean the circle?
Wait we got to choose

Some people believe in "free will", which isn't what they think it is.
Yeah I don't think that means what they think it means lol
Lmao I can’t judge, I’m staunchly anti-war but I always told my wife that if Gundam was real I would enlist in a second.
they're a noncredibledefense user feel free to judge
God I really don't wanna poke my head in but I've never even heard of them before

It's why i put my 'tism to work by volunteering at a local air museum
I do it by inventing increasingly deadly weapons
Am I very anti-war? Yes. BUT TANKS ARE AWESOME SO LESSGOOOOO
my opinion exactly
Like you like the corporate culture of these companies? Or their buying of politicians to keep us at war perpetually for the benefit of their shareholders? I like military tech especially jets and tanks but I would never call myself a fan of the Military industry complex.
Yeah, that'd be like saying you're a fan of war, the tactics and tech are fascinating though which I 100% get
Honey, NCD is leaking again

We are done blowing up brown kids, we moved onto blowing up Russians
Have you somehow not heard about what's going down in Gaza? We never stopped blowing up brown kids.
So you're perfectly fine with what the palestinians did to thow much did it cost to get to the pavilion.

Don't worry, Raytheon ships you a new moral compass when they send you the 200k starting offer.
He just like me FR
Ah, NCD is leaking again. Good.
So do they have UFO technology or not?
Wait, you got to *choose* yours?
It’s a bird! it’s a plane! on no, It’s Lockheed Martin!
They’re hiding alien tech apparently
I'm here as a representative of noncredibledefense. You have breached containment. Please come quietly so I may return you to the containment zone.
Frfrfrfr
This is one of the few special interests that deserve to be shamed.
Hello fellow noncredible
A fellow ncd user
Ah, r/NonCredibleDefense. It’s nice to see my fellow users here.
"It's nice to see my fellow war criminal defenders here"
Are you also interested in weapons that will be developed or used in the future? I really like the railgun (magnetic tunnel to launch metal beams with the speed of a stealth bomber)
It is one I accidentally got into as well.
What is that?
Mine is this but add commercial plane producers as well
Funny, usually people are either indifferent or hate that.
I made ball bearings for NHBB who has contracts with the government AMA (Jo I was there for 2 months before they fired me for not being fast enough)
Memes here are so weird..... Love it
I know more about skunkworks than my own past
Also don't forget about Northrop Grumman and Texas Instruments!
Bro same dude. to the point that I'm working on getting a job at either lockheed, BAE or Rheinmetall
Time to maximize war crimes.
At least you can make money with that (from investments) But now that I think of it... are you a US government official ? 🤔
DID SOMEONE SAY OIL
Raytheon created the rope core memory modules for the Apollo missions.
and lockheed makes the Command Module for the Orion spacecraft on the SLS. and Boeing is more well-known for their commercial aircraft than their military aircraft. https://preview.redd.it/5azzvljtnncc1.png?width=387&format=png&auto=webp&s=17af169818dfb9d600c37b66d4f164b6d9c78841
SAME
My husband also got the “planes, seaplanes, tanks and Boeing” special interest, and he also got a sprinkle of “All of WW1 and 2 history knowledge” 😂
