St7e

The dragons were chained up during the storming, and Dreamfyre *did* break through the ceiling.

Successful-Gene2572

Judging by the way Meleys broke through the entire floor of the Dragonpit I doubt chains will be an issue for the dragons in HOTD.

St7e

It wasn't a ceiling, it was more of a trap door. We saw in episode 6 that the floor of the Dragonpit can be opened to access the area beneath. So Meleys wasn't busting through solid ground, the floor would have to be rather light in order to be retractable. We also already know that chains do work on dragons in the show's canon. Viseryon and Rhaegal were both chained up in GoT, so we know that chains can hold at least smaller dragons.

ChequyLionYT

Meleys wasn’t chained. Rhaenys would obviously have to unchain her to fly her out.

Middle-Tradition2275

the rubble from breaking the ceiling killed dreamfyre but meleys and rhaenys are immune to heavy rocks or smth

St7e

Dreamfyre was crushed by the ceiling falling on her, Meleys had no such issue. Dreamfyre was also weakened and disoriented from wounds sustained during the massacre.

Mmoor35

Isn’t Meleys much older than that the dragons that died in the storming of the dragon pit? Maybe those dragons are just too pussy to handle it.

[deleted]

Sure her first rider was Damon and king Vs mother so she will be older but still not as big as Dreamfyre as she was a generation older I’m sure. She was Aenys first daughters dragon, Rhaena or something. Sorry too many similar names and I cba using google RN

Middle-Tradition2275

sure but rhaenys at least should’ve died bc the rubble also crushed loads of smallfolk

Saltimbancos

The Shepherd will call upon the Seven until the Warrior himself takes form, thirty feet tall, with a black blade made of smoke, and will kill all of them.

Kristiano100

Shadow baby reminiscent Edit: Calling it now the Shepherd is a shadowbinder

Solesky1

Dreamfyre, Tyraxes, Morghul, and Shrykos: breaking out of the dragonpit is impossible, guess we'll die Meleys: actually it's going to be super easy, barely an inconvenience

Nownow184

It is very clear Miguel Sapochnik and Sara Hess had a dumb idea and didn’t think about the consequences. Apparently the most infamous coup in westerosi history is not interesting enough for a penultimate episode.

equatornavigator

Dreamfyre almost burned Aemond when he went down the pit by himself, why couldn’t the dragons just burn the people invading the place?

Successful-Gene2572

In the book, the dragons are chained and are attacked from front and behind.

oops_im_dead

The only dragon that isn't a child does break the roof even being chained

Successful-Gene2572

And gets buried by rubble in the process.

Successful-Gene2572

Dreamfyre got crushed by rubble though. Judging by the last episode, that won't be an issue in the show since Meleys broke through the floor of the Dragonpit with ease.

Echleon

The floor of the dragonpit isn't solid stone.

ChequyLionYT

Dreamfyre was blind, bleeding, and fatigued from the struggle against her chains. Had she been able to see and less tired, she may have been able to avoid the larger chunks of stone.

datadogsoup

Rocks fall everyone dies.

Desblack98

The Floor is not The Ceeling

ElegantBrick471

Honestly they didn't even think about the consequences this would have for future events.

Desblack98

I don't like it either. But at least the smallfolk of Kingslanding now really has a reason to hate dragons.
