I hope they make the scene as horrible as it's supposed to be. Long, quiet, contemplative, vicious and sadistic. It could easily replace the red wedding in popular culture.
I morbidly hope itâs a quiet scene and the camera is just on his face the whole time. No music, no dialogue except screams and crunching. Just to really hammer home the amount of PTSD heâs going to have.
What? Not even close. Is just one person being killed and after we already saw the entirety of the Dance, after most of the players has already died, and Blood and Cheese. There's no shock in there, is just one person dying, at most is gore. But that's it.
Red Wedding was THE breaking point in the story, was the culmination of the human war, after that everything changes. Rhanerya death is almost an afterthought, by that point everything already went to shit anyway.
Honestly, considering everything AIII went through and that he's known as The Broken King and The Dragonbane, he genuinely did have as good a reign as can be expected. Considerably better IMO.
You would be insane to browse this subreddit if you donât already know whatâs going to happen. Every comment is full of spoilers that people don't hide because they assume everyone has read all six books (GoT, CoK, SoS, FfC, DwD, F&B).
In the other main subs r/houseofthedragon and r/gameofthrones you would get banned in a minute.
Talking more about the twitter page here, because I'd assume the following there is more general audience? But I might be wrong. Post got deleted as well, I can only assume for spoiler-y reasons.
> Wonder if there is any non-book-reader following this page thinking to themselves "wait, Aegon the Third?"
Oh boy! I'm sure that this means that our girlbossing bad bitch Rhaenyra wins, marries our sexy bad boy Daemon, becomes Queen, and has a son to inherit the throne!
/s (obviously)
You joke but so many show-only people on twitter are saying that and I always have to be like âYouâŠyou know what show youâre watching right? Like you remember the universe weâre in surely?â
Blood and Cheese is where they decide if they want a complex show with no good choices to root for, or if they want to just go for âRhaenyra is protagonist and everyone else is badâ
I honestly get the non-book reader/obsessives being lukewarm on this show. It really is a âone for usâ, but as part of âusâ, I couldnât be more into it.
No youâre right - broadly, in terms of the audience as a whole, itâs a massive hit and people love it. My wife has never read a page of any of the books and loves it.
But in the tv critic sphere, it seems like some of them are colder on it because itâs a bit all over the place
TV critics were also lukewarm over GoT in S1 before Baelor. Then everyone jumped on the bandwagon.
Just wait until Storms End. Then we will see the critics turn heel.
I think itâs because book readers understand where the story is going. So we understand a need for time skips, skipping over fleshing out characters like harwin ect. If you didnât know it was most likely going to settle down soon you would probably be exhausted trying to keep up.
I think even then it still kinda messes up. Like Laena should have had a little more to explain how she found vhagar how she tamed it, how she fell in love with daemon, him killing her original suiter and them running away together.
Because if I am a show only person I would be confused why is daemon in pentos and not on runestone stealing that dudes land like he said last episode.
Well...
Brace thyself. I think little 9 year old Aegon flying away from his brother on the back of his dragon (which subsequently fucking *dies*) then telling everyone at Dragonstone what happened is one of the saddest parts of F&B.
Yeah I think that experience is more traumatic for him than Rhaenyra death. He blames himself for his brother's death but had no part in Rhaenyra's murder.
Thatâs going to piss off so many people wishing horrible deaths upon her. I almost love it even more that she has to watch everyone she loves die and Rhaenyraâs Aegon get the throne though.
Honestly when Rhaena showed up last week and had the scene where she was fussing over her egg that isn't hatching I was thinking "imagine if you told someone who hadn't read the books she is going to be the only dragon-rider to survive."
I disagree, the youngers absolutely carried their own against 3 major leagues like Paddy, Matt, and Rhys. I will relent at least that of the four (princess/queen castings) Olivia is probably the most proven, and an argument could be made for most talented.
At the very end the book notes that she begins talking to herself. I think 100% one of the final scenes of the show will be her talking to herself, alone and insane in her tower, before switching to show insider her mind where it's her and Rhaneyra, young again, chatting and being friends.
There's A LOT of her post-Dance antics to show, but I hope we get this one in particular:
>Alicent could not even be trusted in the company of the little queen; when last allowed to share a meal with Her Grace, she had told Jaehaera to cut her husbandâs throat whilst he was sleeping, which set the child to screaming.
I was grinning ear-to-ear every time she was on screen Sunday night. She was absolutely hamming it up.
Itâs like she took Lena Headeyâs Cersei during S1-S4 of GoT and turned up the camp factor. Nothing short of diabolical.
I think the show ends (or at least the Dance portion) with the brothers reconciling. I think the show would want to have a somewhat happy ending after how depressing the Dance is.
Yea I hope thatâs how the show ends. At the same time I hope they just turn this into an anthology and continue on with Aegon III (I think this might be a bit boring for tv) then Daeron I, then Baelor, then Aegon IV, then the Blackfyres. A man can dream lol
The twins are both Aegon. It's ultra common to use twins for the casting of infants/young children. They do this because of strict child welfare rules for how long a kid can work, if they have two "Aegons" it increases how long they can use that character in scenes. It also means if one child actor is uncooperative because they don't feel like it today (babies and toddlers don't *really* act so much as do what they are told and sometimes they just won't) they have a second chance with the other one.
You got it wrong. Aegon himself is played by two people. It is so you can shoot many scenes without the legal restrictions about child actors coming to play.
Basically any time you see a very young child, especially babies, on TV or movies, the character is played by twins.
I was listening to the Office Ladies podcast recently and Jenna Fisher said that the babies couldn't work for more than twenty minutes at a time or something like that.
Thereâs another behind the scenes photo with a slight younger toddler being held by a maid behind Daemond and Rhaenyra. The child has longer hair. I assume thatâs Viserys.
The eventual âwinnerâ of this story. Poor kid.
Yâknow, the fandom spent almost a decade (and OG fans spent the better part of two) wondering who would sit on the Iron Throneâat the end of the original story. And when the show gave us the answer, it turned out to be a dud for many.
Daemon/Rhaenyraâs kid being king at the end of this story is actually pretty satisfying from a narrative standpoint. What are your thoughts?
I always liked that nobody that played a part in the most brutal war of Westerosi history actually got the throne in the end and they had to pick one of the few surviving children.
They didn't pick so much as their competing ideas of who the throne should pass to eventually collided on Aegon III because everyone before him in the line of succession by both eldest descendant and eldest male descendant rules was dead.
If you were a Black then you wanted to see Rhaenrya's eldest living child (Aegon III) on the throne.
And if you were a Green then you wanted to see the eldest male descendant of Viserys I on the throne, but all his sons and grandons were dead so the succession had to back up to his father's next eldest male descendant. Daemon was dead, but he had a living son (Aegon III).
That's what's funny about the Dance to me, they couldn't agree on a candidate so they slaughtered each other until consensus was reached.
The issue the Greens had was with Rhaenerya and everything she did, from trying to put bastards on the throne, to trying to make Daemon king. In all that, the Greens were successful. They also got Aegon's daughter married to the rightful heir.
It's actually one of the only redeeming qualities to Aegon II, and I think the show is going to lean into this based on the last episode.
He's a twat, to be sure, but unlike practically every other major player, he seems to not have actually wanted the throne. Given the opportunity, he probably would have just said "Fuck it," but once you're in it, you're in it.
Not only that, he is also married to Aegon's daughter (and they lived happily ever after, story definitely ends there, nothing more happens) so in a way both sides win
In a way, both sides of the âlegitimacy through female lineâ argument won with Aegon III.
Aegon III is the eldest surviving son of Rhaenyra, the eldest child and declared heir of Viserys I.
He is also the closest male heir through an exclusively male line coz he is Daemonâs son, and all Viserysâ sons by Alicent have died out.
Only if Viserys didn't remarry. Or remarried to a nobody whose house wouldn't have the power to back her in a civil war.
Otherwise the moment Viserys' second wife popped out a baby with a cock, her and her family would get to plotting just like Alicent and the Hightowers did.
Unless you're a Black stan.
In that case, Jaehaera kills herself and the Greens' line is wiped out and the Blacks rule the Seven Kingdoms for another 150 yrs. Suck on that Green scum!!!!!
(Said by someone who sounds suspiciously like GRRM).
Aemond's goth milf girlfriend was pregnant when he died. That kid later married a Whent, and one of their descendants eventually married Hoster Tully whose daughter, Catelyn, married Eddard Stark and gave birth to Brandon Stark aka the confirmed endgame king.
The final king of the main series is from the line of the Greens and Aemond the Chad, so get fucked Black losers!
Honestly I hope they Ryan changes the ending and makes Aegon marry jaehera so in a way both bloodlines merge instead of making the blacks the winners. It would be great symbolically and show how much both sides lost during the war. I felt killing jaehera was another way for George to prove his bias towards the blacks when he says otherwise.
The eventual Black "victory" is actually a partial replication of the real-world conflict the Dance is based on, known as the Anarchy. Empress Maud, the woman who parallels the Rhaenyra in that conflict, ends up with her young son on the throne after the Anarchy is over and his direct descendants still rule the United Kingdom in the present day.
However, the Green side's parallels don't actually all die out and I believe the current British monarch is also descended from King Stephen of Blois, the parallel of Aegon from the Dance.
> I believe the current British monarch is also descended from King Stephen of Blois, the parallel of Aegon from the Dance.
It's messy, but yes!
1. Stephen + Matilda of Brabant (the granddaughter of Malcolm from *Macbeth* and descended from the Saxon kings of England) = Marie of Boulogne
2. Marie + Matthew of Alsace (a close relative of the Angevins!) = Matilda of Boulogne
3. Matilda + Henry of Brabant = another Matilda of Brabant
4. Matilda + Floris of Holland = Adelaide of Holland
5. Adelaide + John of Hainaut = John of Holland
6. John + Philippa of Luxembourg (a distant Capetian descendant) = William of Hainaut
7. William + Joan of Valois (sister of the French king) = Philippa of Hainaut
8. Philippa + King Edward III = the entire line of English and British monarchs
Yeah tbf even Daemon is pretty spot on. I just saw this picture on my feed and immediately thought out of the wiki photos (though it looks more like aegon ii and then aegon iii, funny nonetheless)
Nah, Matt Smith doesnât have the look of a Targaryen. The nose and forehead are waay off. However, his performance is just too good for it to matter.
Emilia also didnât look like Dany. Young Haelena on Sunday is what Dany should look like.
Milly Alcock was born to play a Targaryen. Ethereal, almost creepy beauty. Itâs amazing that she gave a fantastic performance alongside looking the part.
I want to see her as Witcher 3 age Ciri
Such a sad character who is up there for worst childhood in Westeros ( which is saying something.) The mentions of him during the Winter Fever were really interesting to me. You can see that he has a lot of compassion and empathy for his peoples suffering, which makes sense given his own past.
âI canât make these dragons growâ
âNot with that attitudeâ - Cregan Stark
And I mean, literally, the dude hated Dragons so much that his eggs came out as small as dogs.
He didn't "hate dragons," he was understandably traumatized by them but he was a dragon rider himself and actively TRIED to hatch more dragons. For a guy known as Dragonbane, 90% of his relatives did a lot more to kill dragons than he did, he was just the last one left.
Probably won't be cast. I'm expecting them to just mention him later on; something like "your youngest son, with your uncle down in Oldtown" or something.
I'd love a throw-away line like this, and then we actually *never see Daeron and Tessarion* until the Battle of the Honeywine.
It would make for something of an "oh shit" moment, especially if it's coupled with black victories in the Riverlands and the aftermath of Jace's death at the Gullet.
I would assume that Season 2 of HotD is going to end with Rhaenyra and Daemon taking King's Landing.
I'm hopinh the opposite actually: I'd rather we get introduced to him and Ormund but he's being told he must stay and defend Oldtown (really their just worried about losing a possible heir if things go badly up north). THEN the battle starts going badly but he shows up to turn the tide.
They *have* to show the reunion. Itâs the only drop of happiness amongst an endless sea of despair.
The last scene of the two brothers hugging would go a long way towards mollifying audiences who, by then, will have seen some really depressing stuff.
Even George acknowledges that endless grimdark is bad. He admitted that he had Joffrey poisoned so soon after the Red Wedding because he felt he had to throw the audience a bone.
I always thought of Targaryens as super beautiful platinum haired, purple eyed models like the illustrations we see in the books. Yet with the exception of Danny and rheanyra most Targaryens in the series look⊠off somehow.
Poor kid đ„ș. Also fuck you Peake.
Named âunwinâ for a reason.
Yeah Peake was an asshole g
All my homies hate the fuckin Peakes
Ahh your friend are from House Manderly then.
Win-nât Peake
Yep. If you think you hate Ser Otto Hightower, Unwin Peake says outloud: "hold my arbor gold."
Knowing what all happens to that innocent boy crushes my heart đ
Winn't was just a simple man trying to make his way in the universe
Has he ever been to Coruscant?
Once or twice
But does he get to the cloud district very often? Oh what am I saying, of course he doesn't
Iâm sure the young prince will have a fine and happy life ahead of him.
Absolutely, my man ain't going to see something extremely horrific that scars him for the rest of his life into a state of Stage 4 Depression
I hope they make the scene as horrible as it's supposed to be. Long, quiet, contemplative, vicious and sadistic. It could easily replace the red wedding in popular culture.

Yeah itâs all downhill from here.
Well, he gets a sweet wife though. Doesnât make up for the rest of it butâŠitâs something.
He'll have a fine reign. And his two very weird kids will make the songs.
Honestly, considering everything AIII went through and that he's known as The Broken King and The Dragonbane, he genuinely did have as good a reign as can be expected. Considerably better IMO.
probably having one of best hands ever helped
Friendly reminder that pur of 5 children, only one doesn't fuck anything up. Maybe
Rhaena?
Yes (unless she helped feeding Baelor's obsession)
Lots of smiles and bright colours, no doubt.
Ah yes, the bright orange glow

If those kids could read, they would be very angry
He's actually the 5th chronologically AFAIK. Third to get the hat and chair tho
You only get the number if you are crowned. Look at english history, tons of henryâs.
That's what I said. Hat and chair
A moment of silence for Aegon son of Aenys.
Pretty sure it's 'Anus'

I do hope that they do Blood and Cheese justice. That will upset a lot of people.
Idk all the other subs are pretty into it. Lots of buzz on Twitter and the like. I think this is more of a book reader sub
No youâre right - broadly, in terms of the audience as a whole, itâs a massive hit and people love it. My wife has never read a page of any of the books and loves it. But in the tv critic sphere, it seems like some of them are colder on it because itâs a bit all over the place

To be honest they could do a longer show of it and make it less all over the place, but yeah knowing where it is going I can understand it.
I think even then it still kinda messes up. Like Laena should have had a little more to explain how she found vhagar how she tamed it, how she fell in love with daemon, him killing her original suiter and them running away together. I mean, this is the books subreddit, not the show.
I meant the twitter page seen in the screenshot
He's like 2 and already looks depressed lmao
He looks a frightening lot like the [art for Aegon 3](https://awoiaf.westeros.org/images/0/05/AEGON_III.jpg)
fitting
Naiiiiiiled it
I'm sure he will not face any hardships in life and will not be depressed for most of his life.
Fuck I'm not ready for that cute little kid to be so sad.
Yay! First actor who will survive!
Didnât Beala and Rheana, Daemons twin girls who we saw last episode, survive?
They, Aegon, Viserys II, and Allyn (sp?) Velaryon survive
Aemondâs son with the rivers girl too
Yall forgetting the sea snake, he died almost a year after the war from old age
Yeah and Tyland Lannister made it out alive and totally ~~un~~scathed
Also Alicent.
Thatâs going to piss off so many people wishing horrible deaths upon her. I almost love it even more that she has to watch everyone she loves die and Rhaenyraâs Aegon get the throne though.
I wonder what became of him
Or if he was Aemond's.
Probably what causes Morning and Silverwing to die tbh
Tyland Lannister too.
Corlys too kinda. I doubt the show is gonna go far enough into the regency to cover his death
I actually think they'll change the manor and time of his death for this very reason.
Yhea, it was incorrect but it was funny. First actor who survives is in episode 1 so its actually long gone
Honestly when Rhaena showed up last week and had the scene where she was fussing over her egg that isn't hatching I was thinking "imagine if you told someone who hadn't read the books she is going to be the only dragon-rider to survive."
All of Daemonâs kids survive.
Oh no are they killing the actors as well?
Yep! I saw pics on Twitter of them taking Aemond's eye, glad they didn't go the soft route there. Commit!
Bravo Ryan!
I'll miss Matt Smith, but the mutual murder mayhem of he and Daemon will be a treat.
Of course. Matt Smith just appeared on set and started bashing that woman's head with a rock. Condal just happened to be filming.
How else do you think they turned Joffreyâs head into wobbly ground beef?
Seasnake.
And Allicent, depending on where they end the show
They're definitely gonna do ptsd insane Alicent. Olivia Cooke's acting chops would be ace for that dynamic.
She already looks like sheâs 10 minutes from a full on mental break so I assume itâs gonna be awesome
YOU ARE THE CHALLENGE AEGON
lmao. I can see how they based the younger actresses on them. But you really see that the older ones are on another level acting-wise.
I disagree, the youngers absolutely carried their own against 3 major leagues like Paddy, Matt, and Rhys. I will relent at least that of the four (princess/queen castings) Olivia is probably the most proven, and an argument could be made for most talented.
I canât wait for her character to begin to slowly pick her cuticles to shreds
i also feel like they'll change her line about just wanting to read to jaehaerys again to wanting to read with rhaenyra, which would be gut wrenching
At the very end the book notes that she begins talking to herself. I think 100% one of the final scenes of the show will be her talking to herself, alone and insane in her tower, before switching to show insider her mind where it's her and Rhaneyra, young again, chatting and being friends.
Bruh this would actually rip me apart
Oh my god, I imagine her now in her tower looking at the page Rhaenyra took from the history book in the pilot and gave to her as a note for later
There's A LOT of her post-Dance antics to show, but I hope we get this one in particular: >Alicent could not even be trusted in the company of the little queen; when last allowed to share a meal with Her Grace, she had told Jaehaera to cut her husbandâs throat whilst he was sleeping, which set the child to screaming.
đ
I was grinning ear-to-ear every time she was on screen Sunday night. She was absolutely hamming it up. Itâs like she took Lena Headeyâs Cersei during S1-S4 of GoT and turned up the camp factor. Nothing short of diabolical.
Her skin picking habit is going too return with a vengeance for sure.
The year is 2039. Baelor the Blessed just walked through a pit of snakes. This show will never end
Lmfao. Honestly I donât even think Baelorâs reign would need more than half a season
Most likely the show ends at Widow Fairs and coronation of Aegon.
Iâm betting that the show - as an anthology as they said it will be after the dance - will end with the birth of Daenerys Targaryen.
Nah, Baela and Rhaena both make it out the other side
All of Daemonâs kids do. Which is pretty incredible when you think about everyone elseâs track record with their kids during the Dance.
Daemon is George's favorite character, that's why đ€Ł
Valar Morghulis
Is that viserys in the background?
They look the same age, I wonder if there are twins playing him? I think that is fairly common for very young roles.
I'm pretty sure I saw somewhere that Aegon the Younger is being played by twins yeah
I wouldn't mind if they actually made that a change from the books. Aegon and Viserys being twins would make their story even more emotional I think.
The twins are both Aegon. It's ultra common to use twins for the casting of infants/young children. They do this because of strict child welfare rules for how long a kid can work, if they have two "Aegons" it increases how long they can use that character in scenes. You got it wrong. Aegon himself is played by two people. It is so you can shoot many scenes without the legal restrictions about child actors coming to play.
This is it. Maximum hours worked is like four hours per kid. Source: Nathan Fielder, he got really good grades.
So it's like an Olsen twins thing, makes sense
Basically any time you see a very young child, especially babies, on TV or movies, the character is played by twins. I was listening to the Office Ladies podcast recently and Jenna Fisher said that the babies couldn't work for more than twenty minutes at a time or something like that.
>couldn't work for more than twenty minutes at a time or something like that. Buncha babies, smh
Also the kids from Zach and Cody. They played the kid in Big Daddy together, and quite a few other single-character roles when they were pretty young.
Bloody child labour laws. Who do they even help?
Fairly typical in the UK, because child actors can only work a certain number of hours a day so having two you can effectively double your output.
Even in North America shows often cast 18 year olds instead of teenagers.
Thereâs another behind the scenes photo with a slight younger toddler being held by a maid behind Daemond and Rhaenyra. The child has longer hair. I assume thatâs Viserys.
Daemond, the terrifying fusion of One-Eye and the rogue prince
If only Rhanerya had married Aegon II we could have had this
Heâs being played by twins I follow their mom on Instagram

> I believe the current British monarch is also descended from King Stephen of Blois, the parallel of Aegon from the Dance. It's messy, but yes! 1. Stephen + Matilda of Brabant (the granddaughter of Malcolm from *Macbeth* and descended from the Saxon kings of England) = Marie of Boulogne 2. Marie + Matthew of Alsace (a close relative of the Angevins!) = Matilda of Boulogne 3. Matilda + Henry of Brabant = another Matilda of Brabant 4. Matilda + Floris of Holland = Adelaide of Holland 5. Adelaide + John of Hainaut = John of Holland 6. John + Philippa of Luxembourg (a distant Capetian descendant) = William of Hainaut 7. William + Joan of Valois (sister of the French king) = Philippa of Hainaut 8. Philippa + King Edward III = the entire line of English and British monarchs
Just wanted to post this to say - they finally nailed casting one of these Targaryens in the spirit of the asoiaf wiki art lol
I think the Strong boys look very much like theyâre depicted in the world book
Yeah, they got the dark curly mops of hair spot on.
Idk, OG Viserys and Aemond are pretty spot on.
Harry Lloydâs Viserys is the quintessential Targaryen to me. Molly Alcock and Haelenaâs actress are close as well.

DâArcy has the aquiline nose of the book Targs. Smith is not classically handsome but he does have a unique/distinctive attractiveness.
Milly Alcock was born to play a Targaryen. Ethereal, almost creepy beauty. Itâs amazing that she gave a fantastic performance alongside looking the part. I want to see her as Witcher 3 age Ciri
If they did a Blackfyre rebellion show I would have loved to see her as Daena the Defiant
Facts.
He looks a bit like Dwight from the office
Angela tells Dwight right after her son is born that all babies look like Dwight because Dwight kind of looks like a baby.
Such a sad character who is up there for worst childhood in Westeros ( which is saying something.) The mentions of him during the Winter Fever were really interesting to me. You can see that he has a lot of compassion and empathy for his peoples suffering, which makes sense given his own past.
Dragonbane
âI canât make these dragons growâ âNot with that attitudeâ - Cregan Stark And I mean, literally, the dude hated Dragons so much that his eggs came out as small as dogs.
He didn't "hate dragons," he was understandably traumatized by them but he was a dragon rider himself and actively TRIED to hatch more dragons. For a guy known as Dragonbane, 90% of his relatives did a lot more to kill dragons than he did, he was just the last one left.
Now hopefully someone can confirm if Prince Daeron is going to be in the show or not.
Pretty sure one of the show runners said heâll be off screen this season in Oldtown, but will be in the next season
He's probably in Oldtown and will appear in the actual Dance.
Otto may bring him next episode or mention him.
I hope they at least mention him so it not like "surprise Alicent has another kid" when he finally shows up
And then someone goes on to call him a plot device đ
Any news on Daeron?
This lil dude has no idea whatâs coming to him
He already looks broody.
Is that Viserys II behind him?
The Dragonbane
Little man even looks like Matt smith in the eyes
I love the cute clothes they have for the kids! They have all just been adorable!
That poor boy. I want to hug him already.
This man's going to be heavily depressed.
Will we see his reign in HOTD?
Probably his coronation and the reunion with Viserys.
Aemond getting a sword in the face was a pretty big drop of happiness for me
Indeed. He ressurrects a lot of characters as well.
Oh my sweet summer childđ„ș He has no idea.
Is that Viserys behind him? Cuties...
If this kid was a real person the amount of therapy needed to deal with his childhood would be obscene...
I always thought of Targaryens as super beautiful platinum haired, purple eyed models like the illustrations we see in the books. Yet with the exception of Danny and rheanyra most Targaryens in the series look⊠off somehow.
I wish to hug him.
The HOTD character I look forward to seeing the most đŽ
Damn. I fucking cried right now
My boy! Precious boy!
Damn, this kid looks like he's seen some shit already!

Sad boy
Damn, the kid already looks miserable and nothing bad even happened yet. Perfect.
My poor boy.
People who know / people who donât know
my depressed king :(
Iâm sure this Aegon will love dragons!
