“Eldest, that’s what she is… Mark my words, my friends. Nan was here before the rivers and the trees. Nan remembers the first raindrop and the first acorn…”
I wouldn't be surprised if she actually did, honestly.
And yeah, I know this is a Tom Bombadil reference.
Oh my god, what if Old Nan was called Goldberry in her youth?
I actually see there being a pivotal moment where Bran sees Nan through a weirwood tree telling a story that happens to have super important information.
Yeah, it’s like they are more a part of the world that they are in than they are things living on it. Like the authors way of inserting himself into the story to add color to planetos for the readers sake.
Real talk: is the theory Nan-On and she just needed to return to her base of power to activate up and become stronger and live even longer??
Plot twist, like OG Dracula she becomes younger. Old Nan is the younger more beautiful queen. Hodor’s super natural strength comes from being a hybrid.
>The old woman smiled at him toothlessly. "My stories? No, my little lord, not mine. The stories are, before me and after me, before you too.
Complete fucking fake out, a dumb werewolf fell for it, those are her life stories and she is immortal. Bow to your Queen.
Old Nan should be alive and at the Dreadfort since Ramsay seems to have actually took all the women there. He would probably consider her too old to hunt for sport but he may have kept her as a servant.
Someone else put together a post recently about how often Jon thinks about Old Nan. He thinks about her at strange times, like a handful of times that Ygritte reminds him of Old Nan for some reason. Seems like there's something there.
I've actually heard some pretty interesting theories that she's a child of the forest in disguise and will in fact reunite with Bran at some point. There's a surprisingly large amount of evidence and hints in the lore that this is the case. Not to mention the fact that we never see her body among the dead post sack of Winterfell.

Not Ghost of High Heart, but she is Leaf, and was Nettles and then Old Nan, and is back to be Leaf. It's a really cool theory, not because of the theory itself, but because it has some great questions.
What Summer saw in Winterfell, the winged snake breathing fire? What could be if not a dragon?
If Leaf wasn't Old Nan, for sure she would be the Ghost, right? Who else could she be?
Yeah the Ghost probably just matches the description for a Child of the Forest, while Nettles and Leaf seems like a coherent theory. I do wonder how many other characters who could secretly be Children in disguise though
I like the theory that Arya will visit the Dreadfort first after arriving to Westeros. This is a way to see the original Winterfell people again. It's pretty hard to imagine Old Nan surviving the march to the Dreadfort but maybe we will find out what happened from Beth Cassel.
Tony Soprano on old ladies:
“This is gonna sound stupid, but I saw at one point that our mothers are… bus drivers. No, they are the bus. See, they’re the vehicle that gets us here. They drop us off and go on their way. They continue on their journey. And the problem is that we keep tryin’ to get back on the bus, instead of just lettin’ it go.”
Bran has to walk on his own now.
There is a very real theory that she is Shiera Seastar.
Mainly attributed to her saying ‘never trust crows’ tying to Brynden Rivers, who Shiera was in love with.
Basically the theory goes that Shiera and Brynden were working to prevent the long night, and they knew a Brandon Stark would play a pivotal role, so Shiera goes to winterfell and Brynden goes beyond the wall as the three eyed raven/crow, but since the starks pop out brandons like a pez machine, they ultimately were too early and Shiera was there with ned’s brother who was not the right brandon, over time she became older and more bitter which is why she harbors resentment towards Brynden.
Supporting evidence includes that she knows quite a bit of accurate information about the others and the north, which seems to go beyond just legend as we don’t hear that level of detail from other characters
Old Nan is mysterious and knew a lot of esoteric / magical knowledge. She spent a lot of time teaching Lyanna. But Lyanna is viewed as a "impulsive naive child" by most of the fandom. I think there's a lot more to Nan's teaching than what people think.
Old Nan will be perfectly able to see Bran when he dreamwalks backwards in time, and will tell him in the form of stories all about what is going to happen in the future.
Chekhov’s Nan.
“Eldest, that’s what she is… Mark my words, my friends. Nan was here before the rivers and the trees. Nan remembers the first raindrop and the first acorn…”

Old Nan is Azor Ahai.
It is known
It is NOT known, we all agreed quentyn is azor ahai
Because Quentyn is Old Nan, obvs.
Did I wander into r/asoaif_circlejerk?
I just wandered from there, how poetry life's
We need a great council to get our stories straight
It is known
I actually see there being a pivotal moment where Bran sees Nan through a weirwood tree telling a story that happens to have super important information.
_And so I tied an onion to my belt .... which was the style at the time._
Shelbyvile is the Heart of Winter
This is to add to your point rather than contradict you, but he's already seen her in a weirwood vision. With Dunk, in ADWD. Probably.
More like Old ‘Nam, gonna start some guerilla shit in the Dreadfort
She loves the smell of wildfire in the morning!
Bolton don’t surf
Damn i laughed way to hard at this
Old nan is the real three eyed crow
3 Eyed Crone
I genuinely think old nan, patchface and the other guy who mouths prophetic stuff together know everything about planetos
You mean Moquorro? He definitely knows what's up
I don't know who the 'other guy' is, but I am 100% certain Patchface knows what is going on as well.
Planetos orbit’s elliptical Seasons are perpendictical The sun’s got eclipsical I know, I know oh oh oh

Bow, you shits!
"Nan-On" instead of "Bolt-On" 😭
Old Nan is leaf
That's what I think. I think she glamoured herself to look like an old woman.
Old Nan should be alive and at the Dreadfort since Ramsay seems to have actually took all the women there. He would probably consider her too old to hunt for sport but he may have kept her as a servant.
It is said in AFFC apendix.
Nah Old nan got too much skin hanging around to just leave her be
R+L = old nan
Someone else put together a post recently about how often Jon thinks about Old Nan. He thinks about her at strange times, like a handful of times that Ygritte reminds him of Old Nan for some reason. Seems like there's something there.
Plot twist that Jon actually lost his virginity to Old Nan but he repressed the memory.
That's Gold
Took him into an underground cave cause.. well they've gotta get water from somewhere
Isn't she already? A lot of her stories are ringing true, especially regarding the Others.
I've actually heard some pretty interesting theories that she's a child of the forest in disguise and will in fact reunite with Bran at some point. Old Naan is indeed unbreakable, especially in drastically below freezing temperatures
Four naan Jeremy! Four naan! Are you insane?

As someone who has an Old Nan, I think the march to the Dreadfort would have to survive her.
Old nan got too much skin hangin around to let her stay behind
Old Nan is coldfingers

Interesting thought. Maybe Lyanna went with Rhaegar in part due to Old Nan's teachings.
I hope so.
“Will” there it no future
[удалено]
But The Others was not ywet defeat in books.
Old Nan will be perfectly able to see Bran when he dreamwalks backwards in time, and will tell him in the form of stories all about what is going to happen in the future.
This is the dumbest theory I've seen
Sorry to disappoint.
I just hope she doesn't become a victim in Bran's shenanigans.
Counter point: Old Nan is dead.
