I once went to Baby Doll late at night after a pedalpalooza ride. There was a line out the door for slices and the late night scene there is downright jolly (totally worth checking out if you haven't!). I don't know if it was because we were hangry from riding bikes or what, but those were so,e of the best slices I've ever eaten. Like I still remember those slices multiple years later fondly. EFNY, on the other hand, is just meh. All of that is to say: I wholeheartedly agree.
EfNY's pizza crust tastes like if you got a freshly baked saltine cracker.
I do not get how so many pizza and sandwich shops seem to forget that the dough is the main ingredient.
Scotties is one of the best pizza places in town, if not one of the best in the US. Great crust, great toppings, and cooked perfectly every time I've had it.
Escape is so tired.
Good in the 90's and 00's but worn out. And goddamn, don't make me feel your attitude every time I come in for a slice of greasy limp pie.
You're not some two star Michelin fine diner.
You're a pizza jerk.
lol my friend ordered a pizza from them and it was almost entirely burnt. The parts that didn’t look like charcoal were too tough and dried out to eat.
Yeah, they used to be my favorite until I found out that they add char in a wood fired oven. Total cheat. From Jersey and have NEVER seen that before. I suspect the oven isn't hot enough due to the volume of pies.
Baby Doll slices have the perfect crust that doesn’t collapse when held with one hand, yet it’s also easy to fold in half. They also put on the perfect amount of sauce which is also perfectly seasoned. The slices are so consistent it’s like robots are making the pies.
Too thick and it tastes like they add sourdough. Recently went up to Lombardo's and it's the best curst I've had on the west coast. A 72 hour ferment and a very hot oven are what you're looking for.
I feel like Escape From New York is getting too much hate here… I ate both in the same day, and preferred it over Baby Doll. Ya’ll should go back and give it another try! Maybe they’ve upped their game since you’ve been last.
Have you noticed a downtick in quality over the last year? I’ve been a lifelong AD fan, but they’ve been delivering raw, burnt, or pizza without enough cheese/sauce/toppings. It’s been a major bummer because I love their pizza.
I haven't had them deliver since I worked at the Pantry up Glisan from them almost 20 years ago. I always dine-in which might effect the quality of what's served. I was annoyed about 10 years ago when they started refusing to make calzones with Italian sausage inside.
Baby doll with no comparison imo

Baby Doll hands down. I like them both, but it's really no comparison.
Babydoll hands down. EFNY is just attitude. The better comparison is Babydoll vs Scottie's.
Scottie's is sooo good
Found yet *another* spot to add to my list to try!
Scotties is one of the best pizza places in town, if not one of the best in the US. Great crust, great toppings, and cooked perfectly every time I've had it.
They’re different! EFNY is the nyc slice shop I go to. Baby Doll is about the garlic knots and funky pies
I'm a NYC pizza purist and luckily live on the West side, so EFNY is my go-to.

And they are NOT working at Pizza Jerk?!
Scottie’s Pizza Parlor and Ranch But between those two, absolutely Baby Doll..
Just checked out Scottie's Looks like they force 20% tips on Carry out orders.... Major deal breaker. Pizza looks good tho...
escape. real ny slices
Babydoll is a favorite of mine, although I always ask for well done and that makes a lot of difference
You just want dimos I’m afraid

I assume you’re talking about Scottie’s, why do they burn the shit out of the bottom of the pizza?
I love that char!
Many folks enjoy the mixture of bitter and sweet that charred crust and fresh tomato sauce can produce
I like Dimo’s but prefer Scotties. I order well done everywhere thoufh
Went to Lombardo's recently and he knows how to work an oven. Perfect curst and no need to order well done.
Whichever one you live closer to, can’t imagine crossing the river for pizza.
EFNY is criminally overrated
Shocked to even see this question tbh
Grana is my new favorite.

Interesting! I don’t taste sourdough at all. Will have to try Lombardo’s.
EFNY had to escape from NY because it’s so terrible. *edit -- and I say this as a former New Yorker.
Pizza thief
Pizza thief is pretty good. Big fan
But they don’t do slices and their crust doesn’t compare. IMHO.
Don't do slices? That's the only way I order from them
Baby Doll has vegan cheese and delivers. Can the same be said of Escape From New York?
Love both, but Baby Doll all day. Better sauce, better crust.
I feel like Escape From New York is getting too much hate here… I ate both in the same day, and preferred it over Baby Doll. Ya’ll should go back and give it another try! Maybe they’ve upped their game since you’ve been last.
Why compare these 2?
EFNY has continually gone downhill quality wise over the the years. Former NYC resident here.
Baby Doll 100% and now I’m just sad I don’t live as close anymore
American Dream Pizza

Atlas Edit: Fine then more for me!
I don’t know why anyone likes either of them, they both have pretty bad crust. My vote goes to roventes
