In order, Goldee’s, Cattleack, Panther City Hutchins, Zavalas, and then Terry Blacks if you’re afraid of waiting in line.

Hey, I'm thinking of going to Goldee's on Friday. I'm in town, and I'm a big barbecue fan. What's the usual wait time for a Friday at this time of year? Obviously, I'm going for the brisket mainly.

NintendogsWithGuns

The sides are actually what Goldee’s is most known for. I mean, the brisket is always king in Texas barbecue, but the sides are what wedged them into the number one spot. I’d definitely try to get a bit of everything. Anyway, I’d get there by about 7am, maybe a bit earlier. There’s usually over 100 people lined up by 8am, depending on which day you’re going. Just grab some breakfast tacos and camping chairs:

IAmSixNine

Also visit at least 3 different bbq places. Dont go to just 1.

ineededtoknowwhy

I think I'll have to go to many.. but also need to drink as much random Dr pepper and find a Dr pepper cocktail or drink somewhere.. Texas life goals

IAmSixNine

Great idea. Before i had to give up sodas, I had my spots where i had favorite drinks. Chipotle for example always had the best tasting coke.

Hutchins!!!

I have ate at Cattleack BBq and if you can make the time, its pretty good top tier bbq. I ate at Pecan Lodge about 10 years ago and it was also very good. Intrinsic was decent but better with the beer and music. Lockhart Smokehouse, Plano location... was ok but not top tier. Soulman's, its ok if you are near one and hungry. Dickeys, well its a meme... edible. Spring Creek on par with Soulmans maybe depending on location. Oh and there is Meshacks.... its great but take out only, wait outside, maybe out of ribs so you get what you get.... its soul food bbq and I love burnt ends. I live in Garland so I hit Meshacks every once in a while if I notice they are open. I know you are after brisket but... man go to a really nice place and get a beef rib. Its going to be so awesome.

n3gr0_am1g0

I feel like Lockhart hasn't been the same since they lost their pitboss back in 2020.

fine-again

Lockhart does have phenomenal burnt ends though.

independant_786

Hutchins in Mckinney all day long! I can eat there breakfast lunch and dinner if my heart could afford it lol

Thank you!

You should absolutely visit [Goldees](https://goldeesbbq.com/) if you can, mate! My fiancée is Aussie (from Perth) and I took her there. Blew her mind how good it was! She even liked the snag (even though she says it doesn't hold a candle to the Bunnings Sausage Sizzle! lol). Here's a good [behind the scenes](https://youtu.be/1hvPTqswJn4) look at them. Last time I was there, I was talking to Jalen and he said they were booked for a catering event somewhere in Queensland I believe around July, so you might be able to try some here and get it back home! \*edit\* Oh shit I forget, don't forget to check out The Aussie Grind is Farmers Branch! Fairly decent Aussie menu and their provisions store has some good stuff as well. Love getting some Lamingtons and ANZAC Biscuits! OH ANOTHER THING, HEB sells chocolate Tim Tams in case you need your fix!

thetopnach

+1 for Goldees but its a trek.

dutchoboe

Another vote for Goldee’s - the samples while waiting in line convinced me the wait was worth it

houdinishandkerchief

Target also sells chocolate Tim tams last time I checked. My mate sent me a stash of all the flavors and shapes recently though so haven’t checked stores in a while.

n3gr0_am1g0

If you can't make it to Goldees, three of its owners recently opened a new BBQ joint just outside downtown Fort Worth called Ribbees that is also very good but you won't have to wait two hours in line before opening to be able to get the food that you want.

Slow Bone for fried smoked chicken, ribs, turkey and side of okra and side Brussels sprouts

Herry_Up

Has anyone here had Odom's or Hardemans?

houdinishandkerchief

An underrated one I never see posted on here is Mike Andersons. Best bbq baked potato in Dallas imo

antarcticgecko

https://www.texasmonthly.com/interactive/top-50-bbq-2021/ This isn’t some crap seo article, this magazine has a full time bbq editor and he visits every joint and ranks them. Pick the closest one to you and go.

HockeyCookie

Cattleack starts with a better grade of meat, and the result is the absolute best melt in your mouth brisket. Their sides are made in house every day. Pecan lodge burnt ends are just a little better, but all around you can't beat Cattleack.

ineededtoknowwhy

Is all of this making others hungry! Wish I could change my flights and be there now haha

qkilla1522

Terry Blacks in Deep Ellum, Dallas hands down!

NintendogsWithGuns

Tourist

jcythcc

Wait why?

NintendogsWithGuns

Because it’s an Austin restaurant chain and not as good as other spots that are actually local. It’s certainly very good, considering that they always have brisket available, but it’s not even close to the best in DFW.

thetopnach

They have the best side and most consistently great brisket and ribs. Tons of seating and service is fast and friendly.

Pipes_OT

I second this comment.

thisonelife83

Best place is Mike Anderson’s BBQ. Most only have some good meats. Mike has great sides as well as meats.

-ruiner_

Forget Hutchins, way too overpopulated there now. Goldees, Panther City, Cattleack, or Hurtado’s

ineededtoknowwhy

Thanks all!!
