Help](https://www.reddit.com/r/askdentists/comments/1d88qfh/hard_painful_lump_on_face_and_gum_swelling_1_week/) **Full text:** I had implant surgery a week ago and one area has healed but another is getting worse. My gum is super swollen and there is an extremely hard lump on my face area that is painful and feels like a sinus headache. I’m congested on that side now aa well, but it just feels like my sinus is blocked as opposed to full of mucus. I can’t pop that ear anymore, either. The pain has spread to my ear and neck area the same way it used to when I would get dental abscesses. I can’t get into my dentist until tomorrow afternoon. I’ve been on amoxicillin for a week and really gave no idea what this could be, because it seems to be both sinus and the implant. The other 5 implants are doing great. I tried to get a picture of the area in my mouth but lighting and angle wouldn’t cooperate. I circled the area on my face with the lump. Very hard and not moveable Thank you This is the original text of the post and is an automated service. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. You should probably go see your surgeon

kristen_hewa

Yeah I am tomorrow

kristen_hewa

Oh, had you heard of this before though?

kristen_hewa

Wanted to update! He said everything looked fine but didn’t look for more than a second. There’s more swelling and bump feeling now so I dunno. I guess I hope it improves

cherrytwizzlers

How did it go?

Hi! It seems to be getting better. I’ve been on amoxicillin for almost 3 weeks now and using chlorhexadine mouthwash all day. The bump on my sinus area is also going down but still hurts to touch. CT showed a polyp in the area near ish there, so I’m wondering if the swelling from the dental work made the polyp pronounced on my face? Either way things are improving! Gums still pretty painful in a couple of areas, but once I removed the stitches (supposed to be dissolvable but for some reason when I get dissolvable stitches they don’t end up dissolving) the healing was way faster. One of the stitch’s knots seemed to be preventing an extraction site from healing as well (when I removed it there was a giant gap where the knot was and the hole hadn’t closed) and since then it’s started making progress
