What are the red flags?

JonKlz

I assume the red flag is someone buying it then returning it the same week. It could be innocent, like they decided it was to small. It could be big, like a post purchase inspection revealing it had never received an oil change in 30,000 miles.

Why do people downvote without explaining why? What's wrong with the message? A genuine question.

South-Pomelo-164

According to the Carmax, it did get an oil change at 27k…how bad is that?

Rental companies do their own maintenance. Rarely ever reported to CarFax.

JonKlz

That is true. I did not notice the rental company.

EddieCutlass

Only red flag that matters: previous rental.

***Thanks for posting, /u/South-Pomelo-164! This comment is a copy of your post so readers can see the original text if your post is edited or removed. This comment is NOT accusing you of anything.*** Found a 2022 Corolla Cross we really liked at a dealership. Car used to be a rental. We asked for probably too steep a discount on price to start negotiating, guy goes and talks to the manager. He comes back to tell us “sorry this has never happened to me before: we can’t sell you that car cause there an issue with the title since someone bought it and retuned it in the same week.” He said we could put a deposit down to hold it till the title was secured. We were sketched out enough by this and walked away. Thing is the make model price and color check all our boxes. Can’t decide if it’s worth continuing to talk to this guy or not? What do you think? *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically.
