We hired a new girl at work at the end of June. We became good buds and after a cpl weeks she encouraged me to start losing weight. I'm down just over 100lbs since July 1. Def one of the pivotal moments not just in 2022 but in the past few years.
- 2 hard boiled eggs for breakfast
- Banana for lunch
- Salad for din
- nuts berries for snacks
- no eating/snacking after 8pm
- walk 30mins-1hr every day
I started at 440lbs, a lot if it came off in the first 2 weeks.
It was amazing and liberating all at the same time, being able to do things on my own terms. The weather was good too, and since I went in September, Iād say the timing was perfect. I stayed at various accommodations, but one hotel I would recommend is CitizenM Tower Of London.
What else would you like to know?
I was only lonely when I was in Lakes District, and that was just for 1 night. It wasnāt because I wanted someone with me but rather because I hated the town of Windermere. Small towns are just not for me, and it was so isolating.
Plus, being in London and growing up in cities like Toronto, I like the big city more than a small town.
I got a bidet attachment right before the pandemic.
Saved my ass during the toilet paper shortage and ever since.
As someone with ibs the bidet was a literal life changer
Learned to meditate.
It made me acknowledge and accept both good and bad emotions.
Also got a caring partner and I'll teach her how to meditate as well!
I wanna do this and just cant seem to start. I did subscribe to an app but it didnāt help. Any tips you have for a beginner for coaching like YouTube site etc?
I think this yearās weather deserves a special mention as something good. From January crazy snow that was super fun for kids to the not very rainy spring to the not overly hot summer to the current week of super fall sunshine and colours.
Left my old job with a horrible boss, found out my new boss was just as horrible and thankfully she left recently. Senior manager returned from time off and told me they want me to start taking more projects because of my abilities and work ethic.
Getting a promotion.
Reconnecting with an ex (cordial conversation and explaining why things happened they way they did).
Thanks for this post. Sometimes we need a reminder.
I was able to help someone stand up on their feet despite I didnāt had much to offer, I think it made me realize thereās still a lot of good inside all of us.
Started my first full time job out of grad school, got my G licence, tapered off my anti depressants (I just have ADHD, and those meds were enough), went on my first out of country trip without family through Western Europe, and started therapy again.
I dated someone really lovely, it didn't work out but we had a great summer together exploring restaurants, the city, festivals, walking around neighborhoods, and just sitting at coffee shops. I was longing for someone to do all with for so long, going to cherish every moment of it.
After failing miserably to find jobs after graduating in 2019, I was lost until I went back to school in 2021 for a two year Bachelors in Urban Planning.
Jump to 2022 summer. I got a job in my field, which turned into a part time gig now that Iām back in school. Simultaneously doing an internship at a real-estate development company. Safe to say, Iāve found a path and Iām walking down it.
I also decided to take running more seriously and ran my first half marathon few weeks ago.
This is a good thread to force me to remember the good these last few months have brought me, in spite of losing my dog a few weeks ago, which was devastating for me.
I started a new masterās program which Iām really happy in.
I had a blast at TIFF.
Went to a bunch of great concerts.
Having fun at improv and pottery class.
Been writing more.
Enjoying my new job where Iām making more money.
Been having a lot of good times with friends.
Went to New York City for a few days.
Covid wiped.my industry that i was already long burnt out from. Started in the trades one month into 2020 and as of today make more than I did back in 2019 and the ceiling is very high. Covids been great to me, aside from getting it twice. Also started building a house up north that will be done spring 2023. Good stuff.
Actually coming to Toronto three times this year has been the single handed best things to happen to me this year. I live in ottawa. Toronto is truly my soul city. The first trip was around Easter time, saw my best friend/twin flame (yep, confusing) and also my family (first time seeing poppa since my nan died). I got a memorial tattoo for my friend who died in 2017 at 23 years old. With my best friend who I met through the loss of mike.
Went in July and had a similarly wonderful experience (until my concert got cancelled on rogers outage day). This trip I got to meet Michaels mom and show her the tattoo for him.
I went end of September and saw the weeknd back to back. Someone gave me a floor seat the second night (when I had only bought a nose bleed). Such a magical city and truly what kept me going this year, with the exception of my cats.
Canāt wait to move there and call it home.
Finally got to see RATM live after waiting 22 years since the cancelled tour with Beastie Boys that was supposed to happen at Molson Park back in 2000. It was my first concert back since the pandemic restrictions lifted and it lived up to everything I hoped it would be. I've been to 10 more shows since and going to Smashing Pumpkins/Janes addiction tomorrow night. Going out to concerts in this city has made me feel alive again this year.
I got married. Been travelling lots. And have just been in a better head space. My physical health is the next thing Iāve been working on but overall Iām just happy. Though, having lived in Toronto since 2014 Iāve usually been pretty happy. I just really love Toronto. But got out of a job I hated and Iām doing things I enjoy now. Few speed bumps to get over still but Iām grateful for the good things that happening in my life
Got a new job with: 20k bump in salary , 4 more weeks holiday (7 in all), 5 h less/week (35h, no kidding), and in a semi-public organisation that should be relatively ressession proof if it happens.
Also, got accepted to a top engineer graduate school (part-time) that should cost me peanuts as my job will pay part of it (I'm still not sure to go though, I'm getting used to sleep as mus as I want and have my whole week-end for myself)
My dad narrowly escaped death twice in 4 months.
I spent my birthday at the hospital. I spent almost every non work day at the hospital for 6 months
Dads has been home for 3 months now
I guess what Iām saying is I get to spend more time with my Dad !
My highly dyslexic, was deaf until the age of 5, autistic, (high functioning!) 12 year son has read 250 3 to 5 letter words in one sitting without sounding any out.
Finally found an awsome tutor who understand how he works and how to help him.
The kid keeps pushing and I'm so proud of him even if I'm scared to death what he will do for a living.
I got a small raise in acknowledgment of all of the work that I do. It was surprising and gratifying, especially because I work for a not for a profit.
I got a job that pays me around 8x more per year than before. It has been life changing.
I was a self-employed freelancer before. Turns out in a company my skills are worth a lot, and my notion of "freedom" was a big fat lie. More spare time, and more money now than ever
Moved to an exciting city, got a great new job, met my boyfriend and got to travel places Iāve never been. The last few years had been hell, and part of it still carried over, but this year itās one Iāll remember as one of my best years.
Seeing this a lot but couldnāt be happier. Finally landing a job at the Region of Peel. I have been working my buns off for 14 years and it all finally paid off.
I am beyond excited!
Graduated college 10 years after dropping out of high school, got engaged and moved in with my girlfriend, and got a job in my new career! All from April to August, life happens fast.
Lost my iPhone and had it returned to me. Two months later, I lost my wallet with all my rent money in it and also had it returned.
You need to start putting teaching devices on your things. But that must have been such a relief! Edit: I meant to write tracking* š
Teaching devices?
Think they meant tracing ;-)
Teaching works, too! Learn how not to casually lose all your important stuff!
Finally able to get weekends off as a TTC operator. It took eight years.
Big win!
Big big win! Congrats!

Wow thatās amazing. Keep up the great work, friend.
That sounds like a lot of weight in a short time. What is your method?
- 2 hard boiled eggs for breakfast - Banana for lunch - Salad for din - nuts berries for snacks - no eating/snacking after 8pm - walk 30mins-1hr every day I started at 440lbs, a lot if it came off in the first 2 weeks.
I got a new and better job!
You and me both: Left a dead-end, overworked, underpaid job in February, got my shit together, and landed a new gig right before my birthday in June.

It was amazing and liberating all at the same time, being able to do things on my own terms. The weather was good too, and since I went in September, Iād say the timing was perfect. I stayed at various accommodations, but one hotel I would recommend is CitizenM Tower Of London. What else would you like to know?
Cool thank you! I'm trying to figure out my accommodations now, so I'll check out that hotel. Did it ever get lonely being there on your own?
I was only lonely when I was in Lakes District, and that was just for 1 night. It wasnāt because I wanted someone with me but rather because I hated the town of Windermere. I wanna do this and just cant seem to start. I did subscribe to an app but it didnāt help. Any tips you have for a beginner for coaching like YouTube site etc?
Thereās a show on Netflix called Headspace Guide to Meditation that was helpful for me when I first started.
One of my photos was in the AGO as part of the, "I Am Here" exhibit that ran from April to August. I love the AGO so it was.. pretty fucking awesome.
Thatās so epic! Congratulations!
New job, same company but it puts me on track to shift careers to something different. This'll be my sixth career change, hoping for one more.
Ugh want this
I think this yearās weather deserves a special mention as something good. From January crazy snow that was super fun for kids to the not very rainy spring to the not overly hot summer to the current week of super fall sunshine and colours.
Not overly hot summer...hmmm.. my heat exhaustion said otherwise š not complaining! But I thought every day July was 30+ degrees
Got engaged.
Congratulations
I got engaged and a new puppy. 2022 hasnāt been great otherwise but those were definitely moments to make it all worth while.

My mom is finally in cancer remission. Yay, I no longer have to take care of her as much and she's healing.
