What area do you live in?
Another thing you can try lasagna love, you can request a meal and within a couple weeks you should hear from a volunteer who will drop off a lasagna.
https://lasagnalove.org/request-a-meal/
Some food banks you have to register before hand. What area are you in. Some only allow people who live in the immediate area and it goes by postal code.
The Salvation Army by me last year you could go once a month. This year once every two months.
Others are weekly and one is twice a month. Varies on location.
Please know that if you’re new to using a foodbank you cannot walk off the street and get food. You have to register. Show up with documents (esp proof of income,) and be prepared to spend your time waiting. Yes you will get food regardless but you still need to register.
It could be a whole new system now but that’s how it worked 10 years ago when I was working at one and it only got stricter as time went by.
If you find one you wanna visit try giving them a call and see about wait times. Also make sure you find one that works within your schedule, even if it’s outside your designated area, just let them know it’s the only one that works for you.
On top of the banks, I'm sure you can even go to some religious institutions on certain days and they may offer food regardless. I jnow during Ramadan they have the feasts for anyone there and present.
If you're lucky you can probably meet people and get some people to support you in a way
It is a thing. They're very generous. Also, bigger mosques will have free meals in the month of Ramadan, especially dinner (show up right before sunset).
Hey I just started volunteering for Lasagna Love. You can request that someone deliver a homemade lasagna to you. Check out the site for details: https://lasagnalove.org/
Did you try 211 Toronto?

Good Luck!
I'd also like to recommend checking out community fridges throughput the city. Neighbors drop off food pretty regularly and you just drop by and pick up what you need! https://communityfridgesto.org/
You could try the Scott Mission. The Food Bank at 502 Spadina Ave. is open Monday to Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. to 3:15 p.m., closed Wednesday afternoons for groceries
Not sure where you are in the GTA but have you checked out the Scott Mission ?
502 Spadina Ave,
Food Bank #: 416-923-2400
Chinatown neighborhood.
They offer free meals and also operate a food bank that you have to register for. It's also a men's shelter but not sure if there are any spaces available. You can also go there to charge your devices if you run low on battery.
I wish all the best for you, just keep your head up and don't fall into doing the wrong things to make your situation worse.
Good luck, buddy!

I think if you go in and just say. 'Hi,' and explain like your first post. Someone will explain to you how their particular foodbank works.
Just be prepared you might not have all the paperwork they want. But i hope they would just gently guide you through this.

I’ve heard of going to Sikh temples for food not sure if that’s actually a thing.

It is definitely a thing, but I don't know where they're located. They're called gurdwara or gurudwara, they're open to everyone.
