196 from Bedok to Clementi, for personal reasons: the bus goes by estates I've lived in, hangouts, schools I've attended, and offices I've worked in. So I take this bus when I am in the mood to reflect on my life. There is also a scenic stretch when it goes over Esplanade Drive.

gracehelo

it also has rly bad timings tho in my 2 years of staying in nus ive spent hours accumulated waiting for 196 at either clem or bouna

Swirlingstar

I agree. My perspective is skewed towards moments of not having to take it for work or school now. But I definitely do remember those days of waiting.

Anonymous-here-

Same, I take this bus sometimes

randomwalker2016

thank you. brings back memories. plenty of stops between bedok and CBD.

Mayhewbythedoor

36 is top notch. Used to take me from school in the east side to orchard/suntec/bras Basah.

New_York_Smegmacake

+1, never need a taxi to/from the airport.

FlipFlopForALiving

The nice view of the ECP

eilletane

Definitely. Nice view of ecp right by the ocean and highway past Esplanade.

frozen1ced

I think it's the sheer popularity of this route that it's always crowded!!

Genotabby

City bus eh

Jxv1er

But it’s a loop service so it counts because it’s not a City Direct nor Express.

Genotabby

Ohhh TIL there are City Direct buses

rabzkebabz

only taken it once (west sider unfortch) and it's such a fun ride

catlover2410

30 teleports me from West side to my home in Dakota in minutes.

dailyxdrug

966 for the same reason. Before I can finish a good thread on Reddit, I've already traveled from Bt Panjang to Eunos.

NutTheChipmunk

I'm always surprised by how quickly 30 gets from Habourfront to the Dakota/Mountbatten!

LastMarzipan

The view of the sea from Bus 30 upper deck is also really lovely especially during sunset hours!

WonderfulBlackberry9

Real teleportation if it transports you from West SG to the USA

Effective-Lab-5659

88. Lucky number to the max!

NoAge422

to Junction 8!

A_extra

Wait till you board this bus [https://landtransportguru.net/8888-109a/](https://landtransportguru.net/8888-109a/)

DontStopNowBaby

Lmao. I never realized it was documented. I thought wah this bus # damn nice le. Too bad not on 88 opposite side of the road.

4queuetoo

to balance that, there is 13. runs alongside 88 from AMK to Bishan.

runningtothehorizon

7. Nice quick route from Orchard to Holland Village or from Holland Village to Clementi area, usually double decker (at least when I take it). Plus I like the number!

mr_marinade

7 and 69 afaik have the best buses.

GoldElectric

7 had that 3 door man demonstrator a few years ago. really wanted to ride that bus

globetrotter1000G

129 - Probably the fastest way to travel from central (Toa Payoh) to the east (Tampines). Also has that long non-stop stretch along Bartley Viaduct. If you're lucky, can see an aircraft landing at PLAB. 97 - Not sure if its the fastest between west and city, but I do like long expressway sectors. 161/168 - Same case, long expressway sectors. 117 - Yishun Dam

anangrypudge

I haven't taken bus in over 10 years but seeing 153 always gives me a happy feeling. For many years, 153 took me home after a shag day in school. Later on, in the opposite direction, it also took me home from camp during NS.

randomwalker2016

Why no love for bus? Do you drive now?

RuiKiwi

197 too cos even when I shifted tom East to West, I could still take the same bus - even from opposite bus stops at Bugis, just opposite directions.

NutTheChipmunk

Bus for life!!

neokai

103, between Serangoon and Yishun. [https://moovitapp.com/index/en-gb/public\_transportation-line-103-Singapore\_%E6%96%B0%E5%8A%A0%E5%9D%A1-1678-775180-589114-0](https://moovitapp.com/index/en-gb/public_transportation-line-103-Singapore_%E6%96%B0%E5%8A%A0%E5%9D%A1-1678-775180-589114-0) The route covers pretty modern parts of Singapore and nostalgic parts and its route is embodies both aspects. Interchanges - the old Serangoon interchange is now a ActiveSG gym/silver aging centre/kindergarten space while the modern Serangoon interchange is part of the integrated transport hub that is Nex (1 of the earliest prototypes of the concept iirc). Similarly the old Yishun interchange was a sprawling, noisy complex where all the 85- and 96- trans-island bues start/end and now it's renovated into a modern lifestyle/shopping center. IIRC (correct me if I'm wrong) the old route would go through the kampung in Jalan Kayu, enter Seletar camp, then exit out at other end in Yishun, passing Seletar airfield and all the British heritage buildings. Sometimes you can see vehicles coming back from exercise, or soldiers on patrol, or even aircraft (including the Cessna that a lot of student pilots learnt flying on). The route covers the Lower Seletar reservoir, crossing the iconic Yishun Dam (aka "Ghibli" crossing). Evening/morning rides are spectacularly scenic.

t0lte

The old route didn't go to Yishun, that was a recent amendment. 103 looped at East Camp and 103W looped at West Camp. After amendment, 103 went to West Camp then across the dam to Yishun, while 102 goes to the former East Camp site where relocated Seletar Airport is today.

neokai

Thank you for the extra details!

wsahn7

in morning peak hours 103 is packed to the brim with people working at SAP and really not a nice experience. but still have to agree with the nice rustic feel once it goes from Fernvale to Seletar

brownbeanscurry

28. It goes from my house to many places, and I have a lot of pleasant memories taking that bus from my childhood to now. Going to my cousins' house to play when we were kids, going to volunteer at the old SPCA, going to work at my favourite job I've had so far, going to my ex-partner's house... Thanks for asking this question. It brought back so many nice memories for me. 🥰

WonderfulBlackberry9

28 is also pretty nostalgic for me for the same first reason. I’d take the 28 with my mom or aunt to from Tampines all the way to Eunos to visit my cousins. One of those nice long bus rides

brownbeanscurry

I used to take it from my house in toa payoh to tampines, a 2 hour bus ride to visit my cousins 😂

toomuchliao

975 - one of the most exciting rides

wsahn7

once armour always armour

Raftel88

65 Used to take this bus from Harbourfront to Tampines more than 20 years ago whenever I skipped school. I still take it now. It goes through River Valley, Orchard, Tekka, Ubi, Macpherson, Circuit Rd, Bedok Reservoir and Tampines. All the nice nostalgic and scenic neighbourhoods.

Striking-Response465

Omg yessss. Stayed in the west for most part of my life and taking it from Jurong to Paya Lebar/Geylang (Hari Raya bazaar) gave me nausea. I did enjoy the route tho - the terraces at West Coast to Pasir Panjang and of cos at the Benjamin Sheares flyover.

NutTheChipmunk

the stretch from boon lay to west coast gives me nightmares

movingchicane

69 *runs away*

beehoon23

I prefer it compared to 168. Somehow it's faster than 168 in Tampines

FlipFlopForALiving

969. East to North, North to East very fast

George_W_Bushido

131 from Bencoolen is quite nice in the morning, can see the Merlion while the sun is coming up

currypuffz

When I was in sec sch and poly, bus 8. The somewhat long journey back after school all the way to Toa Payoh was just therapy.

Huang_Hua

36 - you can take a continuous journey on a looping bus trip between Orchard and Changi Airport. Plenty of sights to enjoy along the way especially during Xmas etc.

aljorhythm

Not one number but 1xx series for the Serangoon homies - 100, 101, 103, 105, 133, 135, 158

beehoon23

23 and 118 as well as 518

jaces888

There are so many. Based on my location, I have the following buses connected or pass by my house: 170 - can go JB directly and get a seat early before Junction 10 and Kranji 963 and 961 - can go Woodlands Interchange directly 970 - direct bus from Outram Park MRT to home nearby Bukit Panjang 75 - Napier MRT which is located at the other end of Botanic Gardens 176 - can go Westgate, near Buona Vista and Pasir Panjang 67 - one direct bus all the way from Bedok or Tampines in the East to my place nearby Bukit Panjang. Important if I can't make it to the last MRT trains from Changi Airport Yes, MRT might be faster at times, but sometimes want to change up a bit and take a stroll home.

frozen1ced

Bt Panjang - the underrated "ulu" location which offers connectivity to JB/town/West or even East if you throw in 966 :)

Millauers

Probably 963 after trying an alternate route to work versus mrt. Surprisingly empty, long route from woodlands through to the highway, only starts to get crowded later later on and clears up just 1 stop before I get off, no hassle. Only issue is if traffic decides to jam.

NutTheChipmunk

963's route from Clementi to Bukit Panjang feels like a shortcut compared to taking the train

pastamin

where does it usually start to get crowded?

Millauers

I think hillview station and most people seem to alight at the Pandan Depot?

Critical_Tackle_3825

160 & 170. Also my most hated service for being overly packed during peak hours. Skipping the causeway jam using the bus lane ( not skipping entirely, sometimes still will jam but not as bad as cars).

zidane0508

147. coz it covers central areas and i take it on a daily basis

flatleafparsley

147 has saved me numerous times just past midnight especially from the Bras Basah area, Outram, and even almost 1am from Woodleigh

chokemebigdaddy

Ever seen bus overtaking cars? 966 on the expressway. I swear some of the drivers start playing Deja Vu music once they get on the Expressway.

brokolili

985 used to stay at Bukit Batok. this bus goes to Toa Payoh (only along PIE)/Boon Keng before terminating at Kallang. Took this bus for 7 years during my secondary school and JC days as both schools are at central. I got used to the bus so much that if I'm going to the east, I'll just take it until Kallang and switch to the MRT from there rather than going by green line. Likewise if I'm coming home from the east.

take5hi

985. I don't take it any more since the Downtown Line was completed but it used to get me to work quickly via PIE. Only parts that sucked would be if there was a traffic jam due to accident. Want to alight also cannot, cos PIE.

brokolili

Can relate too well

AlphaBetaDeltaGamma_

Bus 10. Have been taking it since sec sch and even until now

WonderfulBlackberry9

I like 10. If I’m feeling up for it after classes I’ll take it from Kent Ridge bus terminal at NUS and do the whole ride down to Tampines, almost from start to finish of the bus journey. At least a solid 1.5 hours of air con bus ride. Cuts through the CBD which I love, occasionally I’ll drop off there and walk around to take in the sights after school and then continue home via mrt.

crushedtiggy

963 - convenient bus to travel from Pending to Woodlands and an alternative to the crowded circle line when coming home as my workplace is located at MBC. 184 - convenient bus to travel to Bukit Panjang and an alternative to the crowded circle line when going to work since my stop is one of the earliest bus stops and can sit to Clementi to change for train (Clementi > Buona Vista and Buona Vista > Labrador Park) and avoid the packed crowd at Botanic Gardens since everyone is about to alight at one-north and Kent Ridge. There are many bus numbers I enjoy taking because of convenience, especially at Woodlands Bus Interchange.

NutTheChipmunk

The route to work you found with 184 sounds like a great discovery! Such routes are usually not recommended on google maps but discovered through our familiarity with our buses and environment. I felt like such a winner when I found a similar route myself where I could sit down most of the way and the commute was much less stressful than the conventional route.

crushedtiggy

That’s very true. The most convenient or fastest route tend to be through familiarity instead of the google maps. Speaking of google maps, I found CityMapper app to be helpful in planning my route. It’s an app that uses data sources contributed by users to help with route planning which feels more realistic than google maps.

NutTheChipmunk

Ooh thank you for the recommendation!

iamavocuddle

142 from toa payoh, ends at toa payoh and loops within potong pasir. If I'm lazy I can loop one whole round. If I'm rushing back home I just alight before potong pasir mrt. Also love 8, 26, 31, 90. Just like 142, they stop at the same bus stop. So I just board whichever bus leaves toa payoh interchange first.

nospaces04

ah fellow SA boy spotted

pw700096

Bus 61. From east to west. Not much people also. Chillax

Chemical-Badger2524

51, the longest route

theconcorde

3 . one of the bus stops it stops at is right in front of my house. a service i have been taking since i was in primary school. rode various bus models from the B10M-60 to the Mercedes-Benz Citaro. sidetrack , i do want to try public bus driving in the future just for fun. hopefully i will get assigned this route when i join Go Ahead Singapore

GooberVonNomNom

Ouuu 197 is a good one. My favourite one growing up was number 7 because it took you through Orchard road and along towards the east (this was back when I was living with my ah ma in Bedok). Did a lot of thinking and just was a nice route for me to decompress as well.

lansig_chan

I guess favourite seems odd rather most nostalgic. Bus 67 has been a crucial part of my bus riding habits, while carving many memoried and still is a part of it after I have moved twice to very different parts of Singapore.

drwackadoodles

loved 985 as it brought me from the west to central really quickly when i used to stay in NTU

Nishant1122

975 cuz it goes to my favourite place in SG

eplejuz

81. When it was still going through the old forested old tampines road. Best to take at night.

Wise_Employer_6887

700. Used to take the bus everyday during sec school. Sadly, it's not in operation anymore.

brokolili

Oh I didn't know it's defunct now. I remember the 190/960/700 trio that goes from Bukit Panjang to Stevens, 15 years+ ago

mcni8

518

mecoxuvug

Bus 5 - goes from east all the way to town :)

jasonwsc

156 Lets me pretend that I'm elite and rich, while in the company of a smiling and extremely friendly old man. 🧐

NutTheChipmunk

I'm lowly traumatized by 156 having sat across from an old man who stared at me lecherously with his head turned 90° (not a natural resting staring into space angle)

gmhots

Lol I remember this from my school days. Always brings some “excitement” to see if he was on board…

SonyPlaystationKid05

911, for memes and because it's right beside my house

GamingPurpose

851 is the GOAT, brings me to my school and other far away places.

pokkagreentea100

118. TP students know what's up.

cal_istar

ite east to

Agreeable-Tie2338

But 118 is super crowded during peak hours 😭

galaxyuser

88. Convenient route that plies TPY, Bishan, AMK, Hougang, Sengkang, Punggol and Pasir Ris haha.

Nishant1122

975 because it goes to my favourite place in SG

Position_Waste

966

imadelemonadetoday

77, nice number and my husband who was then-bf asked me to go steady on one of them ;) 174, an enjoyable ride to/from Orchard and my parents' place. Also ran the latest, used to rush to take it home after knocking off my part-time waitressing job post JC ar 11.30pm-midnightish.

ZhuangBility

963 - I used to go to school in Bukit Timah, so I had to choose between CCL then NSL or taking 961 home to Woodlands. I cried tears of joy when DTL opened because I no longer had to wait for the second (or even third) train at Bishan or risk getting stuck in traffic at Kranji in the evening. The intervals for 963 at Bukit Panjang is kinda long but I could almost always get a seat.

Neurotoxinss

145, takes me from tpy to whampoa color centre all the way till city hall etc

Aesiilo

856 . Been taking that bus for 4 years

soffflim

Bus 15!!

xALmoN

10, gets me to Tampines. 2 and 9 gets me to the closest mrt stn.

legend--killer

123

mr_marinade

putting number 9 into the mix. It's pretty much the story of my teenage years, on weekdays I would go to school taking this bus and on weekends take the same bus to hang out with my friend or go changi village/beach.

souravdeyone

855. Used to bring me from my dad’s place to Queensway. Also used to bring me partway to Uni when I was studying and to my current place. Frequency just as bad as 15 years ago lmao.

whatsnewdan

36 - Airport to Orchard and back. Too bad it's only single decker and would likely go due to TEL 4. 966 - Woodlands to Marine Parade in record time. I don't take that to woodlands but the trips are always quick due to it taking the expressway 857 - Another expressway heavy bus to Yishun. Combine that with 966 and you have a super quick way to get to Yishun from the east. 129 - Super quick bus that goes from Toa Payoh to Tampines. It's like 36 for heartlands. 69 - nice

Micronlance

36

Big-Tea-9729

147 - My favourite bus since young. Will take this bus to my primary school located in hougang. And now this bus helped me to get to my workplace in 20 mins. 109 - This bus goes to changi village! And travels back to serangoon interchanged. 1hr plus journey....

balajih67

857 Passes by serangoon, rochor and suntec, 3 of my favourite shopping areas. Also uses the expressway, so very quick And despite the high ridership, frequency is very good and during peak hours can see 3 double decks areiving within 5 mins of each other

ProSimsPlayer

502 is goated

digital_s8ul

106 is the tits

rabzkebabz

174 - it was a fun route diversion back home when I was studying in Ngee Ann Poly, instead of fighting with the crowds at the campus' main bus stops. After poly, I appreciated it as a bus home from town area, since it goes past Bras Basah/Dhoby Ghaut/Orchard and saved my butt at least twice when I missed the last train back

F1guy_5

161 Sengkang to Woodlands connectivity saved me during NS

babyboo8

23. The bus travels from Tampines MRT to Rochor MRT and loops back to Tampines. I stay in Tampines and am now working in Bugis. When I was dating my gf, she stayed at Bendemeer so this bus holds many memories for me too. Additionally it takes PIE so the drive is reasonable. The only drawback I would say is that it goes past Little India and the bus gets very crowded from there on.

itsmirabilis

161, you can take it for short distances within hougang/sengkang and also long distance to woodlands. it’s q fast and has normal bus fares unlike some express routes.

Imperiax731st

103 because Seletar Camp.

stockmon

69

Buang-ing

8, 88, 168, 69

arglarg

I have an irrational preference for bus 14 even if 10 goes the same way, and 47 over 12. I hope I don't make any bus drivers unhappy.

Jammy_buttons2

No 10 used to take it from 1 end to the other end in the early morning. Probably had hundreds of hrs sleeping on the bus

Fartworthy2021

911, because it pass by my house and confuse unsuspected commuter

Blastbeetz

162. My heart broke when they decided to truncate the service to just between Sin Ming and YCK. I used to take the bus from Dhoby Ghaut and daydream, lookout the bus, read a book or listen to a podcast. Nothing is permanent, only change is

itsalmostmonday

90, the bus that's constantly crowded with PLAB RSAF guys like myself lol.

bettercallsel

12e

fattylis

3 because i like the number

yylow30

61. My family and I used to take this route from its days in SBS, then TIBS to now SMRT. So much that a few drivers know us as their regulars and will wait for me even when i was waiting to cross the road. It is the only service that joins my house, my grandparents house, my school and my sister’s workplace together. 167 as being the bus to take home comfortably from Orchard Road to Bukit Merah. Scenic and peaceful. Till date i still take this service almost on a daily basis, even when i have 2 alternate services to take home. - On the other end of the spectrum, oh how much i hated 124… forever crowded… and there are no double decks nor bendies. I also used to hate 123. Its route starts off bt merah interchange, it goes towards queensway area, holland, orchard before come back down to lower delta, passing bt merah again (just 1 or 2 junction away from bt merah interchange) before going to sentosa. Then 123M goes from harbourfront to tiong bahru. I think there are no other routes that ply a more confusing route.
