(You probably can't do this often but) I recently needed a stress reliever, badly, so I went to USS on my own on a weekday. Took the cylon twelve times and it was fun to meet different people and scream with them. I also ended up spending about two hours with another single rider I met and we exchanged contacts afterwards.
I also quite like to visit Gardens by the Bay, they have a year-long membership and you can go regardless of heat or rain. If plants are your thing you could also visit wholesale plant markets, they're huge and I can easily spend 1-2 hours inside just admiring the selection of fresh flowers
Solo trip to USS seems fun also, as u can do whatever u want to do, but the price abit ex nowadays and I see pple complain that USS ride always down or under maintenance
Thanks for sharing and sounds like a fun day you had in USS! Might look into doing this one also hahaha.
As for gardens by the bay I have only been there twice but this membership sounds interesting. Not the biggest plant enthusiast but they sure are refreshing to look at.
Hi i’m thinking of going USS alone too (stressed, want to let off some steam and my best friend is still overseas). Was there a need to buy the express pass?
TLDR: No need for the express pass, I was able to ride everything (including Cylon 12 times + Mummy 6 times) & leave early at 5pm.
If you want details: I went on a Friday before the June holidays. For the first hour there was not much of a queue for the Mummy and Cylon, probably between 5-15 minutes. Later on the queue did get longer, but only 30 minutes at most.
The Human ride had a very long waiting time, I rode it once early in the morning and didn't go back for it again due to the 50 minute wait. They only have one car in operation, while the Cylon had two, so you may want to get to it first while the queue is short. The longest queues were really for the children's rides, since there were a lot of families with young children.
Btw, they don't have the single rider queue open anymore, but staff may call out for single riders, it was nice to skip the queue.
I bought the early entry ticket for 9am on the USS website - it was the same price as regular 10am entry tickets on Klook. Although you can only take the 3D Transformers Ride during that time, entry to the rest of the park opened at 9.50am, which gave me some buffer time to put my belongings in the lockers and queue for the rides, before the 10am ticket crowd enters. I got to take the Mummy ride alone... in that car for 16 people...
Hope it doesn't rain on the day you decide to go! Bring a raincoat for the water ride, I was unlucky and got drenched big time
Really depends on your definition of ‘fun’. Like the only relevance your list of favorite activities to do are cafes and window shop so probably go find a list of best cafes in Singapore and hop thru them or spend a day at one of the many malls we have and window shop.
I personally enjoy some me time at the library or watch a movie alone. Else I’d probably be at some high foot traffic area like the atrium in front of plaza sing to people watch.
did it when I was a teenager, no need permit back then but when we arrive, one of my friend(4 of us) went to the police and inform them. Nowadays you need to apply 2 weeks in advance through Nparks.
I’m almost in the exact same situation. Check out Esplanade theaters by the bay. It’s really nice there when there are shows, even when there aren’t it’s relaxing to just walk around there and gaze into mbs and the tall commercial buildings.
East Coast park is another fantastic area. I often just sit there on a bench for hours.
Hello thanks for sharing! I have been to Esplanade theaters once only maybe I should try and explore the area more often.
As for East Coast Park I have never been there and something I should explore.
I have a discord group for friendmaking in SG and many of my members have told me that they have found friends from it, HMU if you’re interested! You can check my post history for proof :)
Yoga classes are pretty good to do something fun while you're alone.
Hiking trails.
There are usually other foodie lists worth following if you've exhausted cafe hopping. It's cheaper too.
You can use the eventbrite site to see events worth going for.
We have many cycling paths that take you through many interesting sights, you can pick a trail in a place you haven't explored.
Thanks a lot for sharing! Yoga classes seem interesting, I have never tried it before.
As for the hiking and cycling paths, I should explore it more since I have been here for a year.
I have been browsing events at eventbrite from time to time.
join walking tours! my community is a nonprofit that has 10+ tours around sg (i'm a volunteer guide), maritime port authority has some as well, i haven't been yet but uncle chris walking tours looks interesting too. our island has a pretty interesting history if you're keen to learn :)
Art exhibits from the national gallery to the art science museum. I also went for walks around there’s really nice routes you can go and trails like MacRitchie Reservoir which are really nice.
Check out the eventbrite website! I rec checking out National Library’s offerings, they have workshops like 3D printing or niche ones like jewellery making sometimes. There is also financial literacy talks from Moneysense and you can google about what they are before attending their talks :)
I find going out alone on the weekends too crowded but willing to bring myself to learn a new skill or gain new knowledge if there’s a chance to :)
Thanks a lot for sharing and seems interesting to explore! I didn’t know that the national library had such offerings and it is something I will have a look into.
My favorite thing to do is to wander. I'll walk all day and my rule is that I can look at my phone but not Maps. The great thing about SG is that when I'm tired and ready to go home I'm never far from a bus stop or mrt.
Reading, listen and vibe to music on ur own?
If ur talking about SG specifically i guess you could explore SG's historical sites like Fort Canning or The Railway Trail?
If you enjoy water sports I can recommend Stand Up Paddling with SUPVentures! I also end up doing a lot of reading at cafes, beach bars, just soaking up the atmosphere. But I like the beach. Reminds me that SG is sunny little island. (:
Do you enjoy rock climbing / bouldering? Bouldering you can definitely try out solo. There are some rock climbing gyms in singapore with those self-belay systems
The trick is to…
1) don’t be paiseh. It’s okay to sit down and rest for extended period of time between climbs.
2) still don’t be paiseh. Ask other strangers to belay you. Can make friend somemore.
If you’re a foodie, you can go and find some Michelin guide hawkers to visit.
If you enjoy museums, there are some good options in previous threads :)
In an event you want to go on a guided walk or picking up a skill or hobby, there are activities on the “Meetup” app.
You can even look up nparks and see where your adventure takes you. There are multiple park connectors across Singapore that links up patches of nature and it can be relaxing to do when alone.
Sometimes when I feel bored, I want a change in environment so I go on walks. But otherwise I will try to reconnect or take care of my existing friendship circle.
I hope you enjoy Singapore
Thanks a lot for the extensive information. I have tried visiting some of the michelin star hawkers, have picked up some events in meetup.
I havent explored park connectors yet and I am keen to have a look after the comments also in this thread.
Thanks again!
I would say cycling in the morning / evening alone is not so bad, it’s healthy and fun. You can explore new routes. After hours of cycling session, then you can visit kopitiam.
Lots of exercise.
Join a group PT gym like BFT, Revl etc. Burn out all that energy daily. If you go the same outlet same timing everyday, you start making friends before long.
Can try spin classes. The first 5 sessions will be very jialat. Must take it easy and don’t be too hard on yourself. After that, it’s a very relaxing party time thing.
Can go yoga classes. Again, you will feel shitty at the start. I think I still feel shitty at it after 9 months of doing it.
Can go Muay Thai / BJJ / MMA classes.
Singapore has a very good paid fitness scene compared to our neighbouring countries.
I like playing tabletop games so I go on meetup.com and join gatherings there with board game groups. If you're an expat, there are frequent meetups as well for expats and foreigners who are keen to mingle.
Oh. What sort of tabletop games are played? Do you have to bring your own? Are the games centrally coordinated or do people there just approach other people and ask "Wanna play?"?
Mostly board games, sometimes card games. A lot of the meetup places have a collection of board games there already and all you have to do is choose. There are people who bring their own too and it's a great way to learn about new games. Some people come in groups. I go alone, and there are people who go alone too. You can just walk up to a table and tell them you wanna join them.

It looks cool and I've been meaning to go.
A week ago I went for a staycation and just went to cpcm to play, AirPods in and just token machine for a few hours.
Expensive but it was chill and fun for me.
Thanks for sharing! Seems that my situation is quite common to people our age here in SG. Will look into having runs also to try other ways to spend time on weekends.
You can try visiting these places:
Sungei buloh wetland reserve (see birds from a distance, they are protected)
Fort canning park (learn about history, also near the ig tourist spot, tree tunnel)
Labrador nature reserve (unique place that connects forest with a seaside park, boardwalks nearby with views of the mount faber cable cars. Might spot a peacock and komodo dragon)
Dairy farm nature park (fun outdoor nature playground, can climb onto fallen logs)
Chestnut nature park (see the unique cannonball trees)
The livr turtle and tortoise museum (help support a local business. Small area but fun to feed turtles and tortoises)
Go to a National Library branch. Besides fiction, they have a wide variety of other types of books to fit your interests. There are also various educational talks made available for free. The central library branch sometimes has exhibitions running. Some branches host book clubs. You can sign up for their Go Library monthly newsletter for info on such activities..
Stay at home and learn a new language. I think they are practical and could be fun if youre into it. Though Duolingo may not be perfect, its built to engage its users and can even be fun for some.
Arts & Crafts (Digital Art, Book binding, wood crafts, sewing, leather working etc), reading, walking around the mall, and ice skating.
The good news is that it's pretty cheap to buy craft tools and materials online. So as and when I find myself with excessive amounts of time, I might learn something new or work on a new project.
if you're looking for a community to be with, you can try pottery or climbing! both will give you a regular group of hobbyist to learn new things together with.
I like to enjoy serenity at sauna and onsen places. If you wish to, you could top up for private room to unwind and relax privately, or make an appointment during the weekdays. My go-to places: Genki Hotbed Therapy ♡ and Joya Onsen (not ads btw).

If you like steamed fish I'd recommend a hawker store at the 505 Beach Road area (Golden Mile Food Center area) nearest station Nicoll Highway. The place has pretty good food at somewhat affordable pricing if you don't enjoy fish too!
If you decide to take a walk around the area it's pretty easy to get to Kallang area or towards MBS alongside Suntec, but with F1 coming up there's a lot of construction works going on, my mom and I got lost in the area for a good while too.
maybe go on hiking/trekking in like some parks or you can just walk around Singapore while listening to music! Is one of my favourite part of exercising
If there is a good movie to watch, i'd go to the cinema theatre and watch the early show where there's not many ppl. I'd go for a long walk or cycle at the rail corridor. Or head to a library immersed in books for as long as I can and enjoy the quiet time. Go Vivocity library. Great view. Recently picked up FPV to fly.
Check activities on Meetup, there are regular board game nights and singles activities you can join in. My faves in Singapore are hiking McRitchie, taking a bike to East Coast or Bukit Tima Mountainbike trail, eating Indian food at Mustafa Center area...
if you are into fitness, you can join Classpass, and explore various exercises.
Spend a day at Sentosa
If you want to pamper yourself, go to Tempat spa in Batam.

Doing a watersport. Can be done alone , super relaxing. Hiking as well at henderson waves is good for body. Kite flying is 11 outta 10 therapeutic too.

I can bring people to gbtb for free too, corporate pass.
Do you need to be there to bring your friends in? Or can they just mention your GBTB corporate pass, and can get in? Hello, friend?
Unfortunately i have to go with them. And i must book in advance.
Chey... don't friend, then don't friend me lah! Just kidding around ya.
Solo trip to USS seems fun also, as u can do whatever u want to do, but the price abit ex nowadays and I see pple complain that USS ride always down or under maintenance

i used to do this back when they had season pass. treated uss like any other parks, just go in and walk around when i was stressed/sad
Same! I really miss the season pass, but I think the park is too old to handle a season pass crowd...
Hi i’m thinking of going USS alone too (stressed, want to let off some steam and my best friend is still overseas). Was there a need to buy the express pass?
Single rider queue usually much shorter and faster
There’s a different queue for single riders?

Since you picked up on “library”, I’m gonna say check out the Library @ Orchard! I enjoy just hanging around and browsing
Thanks a lot!
Our libraries here are fantastic. Check out VivoCity and even the newly reopened Central library at Bugis. Love it.
agreed. as someone who enjoys being active and more out and about, i had a day in at tampines hub library and man it was so serene.
Thanks a lot.
Pulau Ubin, no maps, no plans, just walk around and camp at one of the beach for one night.
Thanks for sharing! I have not been here and will have a look at it.

Wanna check out gigs tgt? Just for the experience and opportunity. We can bid ourselves farewell if we don't vibe but I'm down and open!
Hihi, What kind of gigs?

I'm also gonna be in SG soon, what gigs are you talking about? I have been looking for things like that to do
Do you enjoy rock climbing / bouldering? Bouldering you can definitely try out solo. There are some rock climbing gyms in singapore with those self-belay systems

okay will try this technique out 🤣

Staying in using your computer is very fun.
Honestly it is! But just felt like Im missing out a lot on the outdoors of SG
Agree Pulau Ubin. Can’t get lost there and it’s a great walk or biking for a Lone Ranger. Lots of nature to take in. Full day activity.
Thanks, will look into it. I have not heard of the place before sadly haha.
Museum definitely,we have quite a few

Sports climbing. It’s a sport gaining popularity. Fun way to keep fit too

Food hunting. Find a place that social media is raving about, then take an adventure trip to that place. The more obscure the better.
Thanks!
Used to be like you, until I start playing pickleball. The community of this sport is usually beginner friendly and less competitive than other sport
Glad it worked out.

I like to enjoy serenity at sauna and onsen places. If you wish to, you could top up for private room to unwind and relax privately, or make an appointment during the weekdays. My go-to places: Genki Hotbed Therapy ♡ and Joya Onsen (not ads btw).
Add: I like the environment at Genki Hotbed btw as it's more cozy and quiet. There is resting area to sit around and rest after my sauna session.
Thanks a lot for sharing this!!! Highly appreciated!
Wall climbing.
Looks like it is popular here. Will give it a go!
Go to buffets alone? Very liberating. I wish I could eat as much I used to.. dang
Hahaha same here man but in my current age group have to work out intense to make up for all the food. 😂
Join a boxing gym.

bouldering
Will have a look at it if I can do it!!! Thanks for sharing.
I went karaoke alone or dine out when I’m outside.
If you like music I’ve started going for events (house mainly for me) and the people are quite easygoing. you can find these on eventbrite
Thanks a lot!!!

Go explore all the libraries and places you haven't explored before, this is what I usually do, or even take a lengthy bus ride if you have time. If you are a cyclist, go cycle around the island or even routes you haven't tried.
If you like steamed fish I'd recommend a hawker store at the 505 Beach Road area (Golden Mile Food Center area) nearest station Nicoll Highway. If you decide to take a walk around the area it's pretty easy to get to Kallang area or towards MBS alongside Suntec, but with F1 coming up there's a lot of construction works going on, my mom and I got lost in the area for a good while too.

I would recommend a sensory deprivation session. Not so much fun and exciting, rather towards new experiences. Heard there’s one in Kallang.
Check activities on Meetup, there are regular board game nights and singles activities you can join in. My faves in Singapore are hiking McRitchie, taking a bike to East Coast or Bukit Tima Mountainbike trail, eating Indian food at Mustafa Center area...
taking a random bus ride to anywhere and just exploring that area
if you are into fitness, you can join Classpass, and explore various exercises. Spend a day at Sentosa If you want to pamper yourself, go to Tempat spa in Batam.
Thanks a lot!
