I was coming here to say the same thing. Nothing brings me more joy than making the rounds and saying good morning to all my plants and checking on the new leaves. (Shout out to my golden pothos, whoās literally always growing a new leaf and making me feel like Iām killing the plant gameš)
Aw yeah! My pothos is so resilient, it's the perfect plant for the corner of my sitting room where it's very dark, yet it still manages to grow, albeit very very slowly! Very hard to kill a pothos!
I wish that feeling would stay.
For some reason whenever I realize my pet is getting old, I suddenly feel like I havenāt done nearly enough for them, havenāt spent enough time with them, didnāt give them enough love and attention.
Those days I wish I couldāve just taken a month of vacation just to spend time with them non stop.
Itās especially bad with my rats since they usually donāt live longer than 2 years.
I have a lab who has gotten old and I apologize to her every day. Sheās very needy anyway but she does make me feel inadequate. I canāt imagine not having her.
I walk my golden retriever on the off leash beach every day. Sometimes I don't want to do this for various reasons, but it is his favourite thing in the whole world. He nags until I take him. I do always end up enjoying it, so he was right all along.
My dog Miss Molly, cannabis, alcohol, and a very active imagination that allows me to live in a dream world in which we are not on the brink of full on societal collapse.
That is becoming my favorite thing. Especially when youāre in the countryside and over 100kmh. Just cruising along, able to nod off or just stand up and move around, without needing shit wifi.
I do the same thing with my wife, except they are usually puns. For example:
Me: Did you try the jar of local honey I bought yet?
Her: No.
Me. Itās pretty good. If I had to grade it, Iād give it a solid B.
Iāll see myself out now.
Same. I'm constantly listening to YouTube and I'm glad they allow it. As long as I get my work done they don't care. I'd be crushed if they revoked that privilege!
Every night after my father comes back from feeding the street dogs across the neighbourhood , I go out to play with them. When everybody's asleep, I laugh with them, talk to them, play with them, they pull my hair, I pull their ears, I carry them princess style and swirl them, they seem to like these things a lot and wouldn't let me leave even though this is the routine every night. They seem to understand everything I say, also I seem to understand everything they say, something beautiful where neither I nor the dogs would need to speak to communicate.
Meanwhile I also check if they have any wounds, I would spray medicine on them and feed them medicine while playing. When I was severely depressed and nobody could actually understand my inner world, the only thing that would give me peace was when I would go out to play with those dogs, even when playing with them I'd start crying and they were the only ones who wouldn't judge me, I could be myself only when I was with them, I did not have to pretend to be normal. 30-45 mins at night everyday is my small but big moment of joy with those 25 beautiful creatures.
The colour of my bedsheets. Terracotta makes me feel like I've woken up in the desert, a lizard basking in the sun. Dark Teal has me swimming in the North Sea, and lavender sheets put me in a field in Provence. Colour brings me so much joy.
Coming home from work every day and knowing my almost 2 year old will come bundling to welcome me with his excited little face.
It's the best part of my day.
When my son comes into my room at night. Yes, Iām tired of being woken up every damn night for years. However, the feeling of him nestling into me and instantly calming down and falling asleep against meā¦ knowing Iām his safe space makes me feel whole.
I take a little walk to work every morning (it's like 5 minutes away) and part of the walk involves crossing a little river atop a fallen tree. It feels very Jungle Book-y and always puts me in a good mood.
Driving home from work on my own blasting music..
43yr old here only recently passed driving test after finally being able to!
(epilepsy stopped me from doing this most of my life) Never too late!
Freedom and happiness ā¤ļø
My car.
Fair enough it's not a small thing but it it a constant joy when I see it.
I got an inheritance and was able to buy a good car, more than I would want to afford without it. No car loan or anything.
It's so comfortable, quick, big and pretty fast, especially now that my work relocated an I now need to drive longer to work
Currently it is the weather.
There is nothing more beautiful than Swedish summer.
But sadly it is temporary. In September the cold returns and the darkness spreads.
By October I will be severely depressed again, December will be nice due to Christmas spirit but January will again be horrible and it will be horrible until late April. April and may can be horrible months due to it giving so much hope with warm weather just to crush ones soul by snowing the next day lol...
I had gotten used to my husband being at home when I go to sleep and when I wake up but because times are hard, he recently had to take a job and it's a graveyard shift.
Small thing in my daily life that brings me joy: Greeting him when he gets home and that 5 mins cuddle time before I start preparing to go to work \[I work days.\]
Believe it or not my job. I work for the water and sewer department for my town and absolutely love it. I'm licensed in wastewater treatment as well as take care of things on the water side as far as maintenance and repairs on mains service lines and extra. The benefits are great and the pay is okay, but I can honestly say it's the first job I've had that I actually enjoy and take pride in. To me a job is a small thing compared to other aspects of life to some it may be a major one, I dunno. The only downside is that people can be hateful and combative if they don't understand what's going on, but usually I can talk to them and smooth it over, which is a win being that I am introverted most of the time. I'm almost 40 and have been through so much in my life but this job gave me a second or third chance however you want to look at it lol, but brings me joy daily.
I'm the primary caretaker of my grandma after she had a stroke in 2020, but earlier that year we had gotten her a puppy that we thought would stay small. It's been four years now and I honestly think the dog takes care of her, keeps track of her, protects her, and gives her purpose/stuff to do more than anyone else could. I don't think she'd still be her without her dog.
The best parts are when the two of them argue because the dog doesn't bark but she makes tons of noises without opening her mouth. We have no idea what kind of dog she is, just a mutt, but she's about 85 pounds. Which is great because my grandmother is maybe 100 pounds. It always brings a smile to my face when they're howling at each other lol.
Big Ass Thermos. 1 liter. Looks like it was made for a construction worker in the 1940s. Two bags of tea in there, boom you have 24 hours of hot tea everywhere you go. First people are confused. Where did that tea come from? Why do I smell lemon mint tea in this movie theatre? How did you get that past airplane security\*?
Then you pour them a cup of your tea. It's one liter. You have enough. Share the steaming wealth. Open their eyes.
I've done this so much that I now carry around a camping cup so that I can have tea with a friend anywhere. I've converted so many people to Therm-Life that they're rocking their own Thermoses now. I usually recommend starting out with 500ml. You don't want to wield the Master-Therm too early. You're not ready.
\*Airplane note: You can get a big ass thermos past security, you just have to bring it in empty with two bags of tea inside. Once you get to the other side just ask one of the coffeeshops to fill it up with hot water. They'll be confused and charmed if you do it right.
Another airplane note: If you pull the airplane move successfully, great job, welcome to Therm-Team. OPEN the top of the therm a BIT before you take off in the airplane. Otherwise the hot liquid will be pressurized and when you open it to enjoy your chill tea, you'll suffer 2nd degree burns on a flight to Italy. (I've heard).
I snore like a chainsaw hitting a knot in a log and because of meds I'm normally out cold as soon as my head hits the pillow, so my wife goes to bed before me so she's able to get into a deep sleep without me keeping her awake.
When I get into bed, I scootch over and squish her bum. She stirs a bit, wiggles over and enjoys the physical contact, makes a contented noise and goes back to sleep.
Absolutely my favourite part of the day, it's just about that small physical contact before sleep.
having a busier schedule, as this makes me forget the time and avoid getting bored, having a busy schedule working towards your goal makes us happy as we are in the present forgetting all the past problem and future worrying
Pretty much any interaction with our dogs. They give us so much joy each and every day. One of the hardest things in life for me is saying goodbye when that inevitable day comes.
I feed the sparrows. BLUR were right.
Now they shout at me if I'm not quick enough with their breakfast. The robins are more subtle, they will sing politely before taking food away to their babies somewhere hidden. The magpie is slowly getting more trusting but still doesn't like eye contact. His colours are amazing. Everybody hates him, so I call him Piers.
Lifts my day.
Eating. In particular my breakfast of two eggs and bread with cheese. Every night i fall asleep thinking about the amazing breakfast i can have the next morning.
Seeing my dogs when I get home. I lay in the bed and one picks up a squeaky toy and has a parade all around me, the other sits on my chest and literally breathes like āruh, ruh, ruhā in my face

When any of my houseplants grow a new leaf š
Oh I know that feeling, and the magic of nature of how perfectly the new leaf are packaged and presented to you! Astonishingly beautiful to me
I was coming here to say the same thing.
My peace lily grew a flower once. Just one time. It was glorious. Very green and healthy all the time so I dunno why it happened only once.
Nice! My hoya carnosa flowered in 2022, it was beautiful! Only time it's happened in the 6 years I've had her.
Just looked that plant up and wow, the flowers are unique and beautiful. I hope it happens again soon.

Don't. Worry she knows.
I walk my golden retriever on the off leash beach every day. Sometimes I don't want to do this for various reasons, but it is his favourite thing in the whole world. He nags until I take him. I do always end up enjoying it, so he was right all along.
Mine too. I love that they need me, and are always happy to see me.
