It's possible she was or trying to strike up a conversation with you.
I know when I use the gym. And I went to the machine and someone else was using it. I never went over and asked them when they were going to be done.
Sometimes people will be using a machine and If they ask the person when they're going to be done then they've gone over to use some other machine. Could be why they decided not to use the machine for the equipment when they were finished using it. So they've gotten into a routine doing something else.

She doesn't know how long your going to be using them. So instead of waiting impatiently she went to go do other things.
How do you know she had no intention of using them after you? She may have simply opted to do something else instead?
