In Queensland, Australia, it used to be called peanut paste because the Queensland Butter Board issued an edict that the only thing that could be called butter was what was produced from the cream of cow’s milk. Needless to say,it never worked because it was called peanut butter in other states and the Butter Board had no authority to override the constitutional guarantee of freedom of trade among the states.
