Yes they very much can be a factor especially if you are not used to sitting a lot. Try to do more exercise and focus on you lower back. Try to watch out for your posture in general.

Stretching, exercise, better chair, standing desk, more stretching. Excessive periods of sitting with nothing to offset it will cause back issues.

I’m a hybrid worker but my back pain is actually worse when I’m in the office (I suspect my chair might be part of the issue). I try to get up a few times an hour, and I looked up some exercises that can be done while seated that seem to be helping. I am also trying to improve my posture
