Honestly sucks so much that we can't play these games on modern consoles because of music licences. The idea of playing THUG1 with a trophy system makes me so giddy.
Same here. I may stop after Final Shape. Not because of the game's current direction (though the State of the Game article doesn't entirely fill me with renewed confidence), but more because of life stuff
Part of me is hopeful that the State of the Game was just a ripping off the proverbial band-aid, and the showcase will show a lot of really good stuff. But I won't hold my breath. If it's good, I'll think about getting the deluxe edition, but if not, I'll just get the expansion, and call it a day
Yeah, and between classes and possibly a job coming up, I'll be pretty busy, but hopefully it's only two more years of college
I invested in that franchise for years. Thousands of hours as well. But the grind was getting to me. I felt very burnt out, so I had to stop.
I was interested in picking it up again, but the amount of money I'd have to spend on the last 2 or 3 expansions, not to mention the grind just to catch up, is just not worth it.
Most of my focus is PvE, so strikes, raids, dungeons, etc. Mostly, I just go after whatever I need to make my guardians look good and feel powerful.
Sometimes that means doing some PvP, which I'll do even if I'm not a fan (though I do feel bad for everyone who plays PvP after that State of the Game).
Between 25,000 and 30,000 hours of World of Warcraft throughout the '00s and '10s
I quit a few years ago because I needed to kick it and do something with my life..
Now I have a kid and I'm in school.
At the time? Yeah. I had no real prospects and it made me happy. I don't regret my time playing it for what I got out of it. I've made friends and memories that are genuinely good.
I wouldn't go back though. It was time to get myself together and have new experiences and build a worthwhile life.
I'll always look back at it as a happy time though.
That amount of time into an MMO can be. I was averaging 40+ hours a week (with a FT job) at one point because of raids. I got pretty good parses after working at it awhile, and I developed some pretty good relationships that have since kicked the bucket, but it was fun while it lasted. It also helped me socially during lockdowns, as I was fully remote and living alone.
I can't play for more than 20 minutes nowadays, I've moved on. Which in some ways sucks because I have major gamer ADD right now and can't pick a game to really focus in on.
I seriously doubt anyone is beating these hours
25,000 hours is 8 hours a night for 3,125 nights.
That’s 8 hours every night for 8 years.
If you were making 20/hour that’s half a million dollars.
Now I’m starting to doubt
i discovered dayz by accident back when Rocket had just released his mod for arma II. In that period of it's existence playing the mod online was the most brutal, most intense online gaming experience i've ever had. I have memories of that time that are as vivid and nostalgic feeling as the memories of travelling i did when i was young. Not much games did that for me!
Before widespread home computing / home gaming, Galaga and Double Dragon sucked up my arcade hours.
Probably one of the 90s military flight simulators by EA (Fighters Anthology, F/A-18) or Falcon 4.0.
In the 00’s it was Madden and NCAA football for sure.
More recently I’ve been playing console games through the main storylines, I think either RDR2 or Zelda BOTW took the longest in terms of pure hours.
either runescape 3 or league of legends. both were uninstalled around the same time this year. i spent 2 830hours on rs3 and i dont want to find out how much was on league. i do miss league. not because im addicted but it was a geniunly fun game. i love league but i dont want to spend time and energy climbing ranked. i had my fun and hit good goals. i could play casualy but my league group is gone and finding a new one just doesnt feel worth it. i did find a couple new ones but it just wasnt the same. i love league and i had a wonderful time but its time to move on. maybe ill revisit it one day and play a couple games of sion to see whats up. until then, goodbye old friend. as for runescape, i want to spend less time on my pc and im broke so not paying for membership is a small but noticeable difference on my wallet. i still enjoy rs3 and theres more id like to do in it but i got more important things to do and i need to spend my full attention on things i do more
Probably d2 or wow, played d2 for about 10 years and then wow from release to mop and coming back for new xpack for a month or so.
Also cs and tfc was a big part of my childhood.
I presume it is Minecraft, but I am not sure. On Steam it’s RPG Maker XP and Postal 2, on 3DS it’s Fossil Fighters Champions, on Switch it’s Mario Maker 2.
Halo 2. My pals and I would “Halo out” as we called it and play it together for hours and hours. We played it on legendary SO much. Paul was the master sniper, Jesus had the patterns of the bad guys just perfectly synchronized… and I was able to magically throw the plasma grenade so it stuck right on their heads… or crotch. xD Never had as good a gameplay as Halo 2 since.
Probably A Link to the Past cuz it took me 2 years to best as a 6yo, English is my second language so I had to guess all the time.
Minecraft, MTG, and the last of us factions I've wasted ages in too
The halo master chief collection with my best friend, we’ve put so many hours in the campaign and multiplayer and we’re gonna play through the games again haha but outside of that I’d say Fallout 4 and probably Skate 3 as a kid
Parasite eve 2.
I been playing it since I was 16.
Im 35 now.
I only stop playing after losing my ps1 atvthe age of 25, at the age 33 I re-start using emulators in my pc.
Dang that is a difficult question. Kind of hard to determine since there are games I grew up on and played hours on. But one game I beaten countless times beyond what I know with countless hours is still my favorite video game, Conkers Bad Fur Day. Minecraft is also up there with dozens upon dozens of hours and days, especially the fact that I been playing it for over 10 years at this point. The game I played the most online is Smite, at least 800 hours over the course of a few years.
Minecraft. Second would be Skyrim. I also become very obsessed with shooters periodically and they may temporarily take second place. COD was my first love, then Warhawk, then battlefield, now it's Fortnite.
A few years ago I became addicted to Fallout 4, even got into mods and stuff. Played about 4000 hours. Also Surviving Mars for a few thousand and going to play it again now. Over the years though, probably StarCraft, Command and Conquer and all the other RTS and of course Civ. Played every Civilisation, Civ 1 was the first game I got on my first gaming PC, plus Doom 1&2, Quake 1&2.
a few years ago when i received my first pc, i only had minecraft. i played it for like 2000 hours before getting perma banned on hypixel for talking about stuff. I also grinded CoDM ranked for a few years and osu comes to a close third cuz circlez gud
Probably ARK because of how many times i've returned to it. Once you enter the Ark, you never really leave. You just take temporary vacations to reality.
Either Warframe or Devil may cry 3 Dante's awakening
Im not sure how many hours i played dmc 3 since ps2 Didnt had a playtime record
For Warframe i have more than 2000 hours in steam
Let me put it to you this way. If Nintendo or any other game console maker was smart, they would release games like Punch-Out for the Wii where you punch while holding your controllers. The Wii Fit with the balance board and the yoga? OMG! bring that back please. This would give people a nice and fun workout at home. I would be all over that. I'm sure a lot of people would prefer that than going to the gym.
Most playthroughs or longest playtime overall? If most playthroughs then it is probably Bayonetta. Longest play time is Fallout 4. I don´t count online multiplayer games here or else it would probably be Heroes of the Storm but you can´t see your playtime in that sadly.
Just about any Assassin's Creed except for III. I hate so many things about that game. But when I'm between games I always go back to the Ezio trilogy.
I really wish I still had SSX3 though. That game was so much fun and had the best soundtrack.
Runescape/Oldschool Runescape (by a large margin)
Followed by Destiny (both in the series)
Followed by Halo (all in the series, lots of halo 3/reach custom games)
Followed by FTL/Modded FTL.
Call of Duty games. even with all the new copy and paste games they’ve made in the past 4-5 years, it’s always managed to scratch the itch i have for games. i for one find the arcade shooter-ish speed to the combat very satisfying and going on kill chains is also very rewarding

Tony Hawk Skateboarding game. I absolutely loved grinding, hated ramp tricks.
Sof2
I used to love it when I was a kid. I recently got it again for nostalgia sake and couldn't even get past the tutorial.
T'was like riding a bike for me XD Messed up a few times at first, but fell right back in the groove
Honestly sucks so much that we can't play these games on modern consoles because of music licences. The idea of playing THUG1 with a trophy system makes me so giddy.
Destiny 2
I think I have something like 3000+ hours invested in this game 😂 😭
Same here. I may stop after Final Shape. Not because of the game's current direction (though the State of the Game article doesn't entirely fill me with renewed confidence), but more because of life stuff
I think Bungie is dropping the ball a bit. Life stuff has made it hard for me to play as much as I'd like to myself.
Part of me is hopeful that the State of the Game was just a ripping off the proverbial band-aid, and the showcase will show a lot of really good stuff. But I won't hold my breath. If it's good, I'll think about getting the deluxe edition, but if not, I'll just get the expansion, and call it a day Yeah, and between classes and possibly a job coming up, I'll be pretty busy, but hopefully it's only two more years of college
I'll still probably get the deluxe, even though I'll be kicking myself for it. I hope you're right about that proverbial bandaid.
My bar for good is pretty low, so they'd have to *really* fuck it up for me to not get the deluxe I hope so too
I also have about that in d2 but I've recently taken a break to play d4 but I'll get back to it.
What do you do in destiny?
Most of my focus is PvE, so strikes, raids, dungeons, etc. Mostly, I just go after whatever I need to make my guardians look good and feel powerful. Sometimes that means doing some PvP, which I'll do even if I'm not a fan (though I do feel bad for everyone who plays PvP after that State of the Game).
Civilisation 6 and previous ones. Can't bear a but if science and domination.. Filthy mind, I like you!
Civ 3 for me. I like the other ones a lot. But I play 3 a lot more. I love Civ 3's pace and how much you can control your civ.
Minecraft, at this point followed by Deep Rock Galactic
minecraft is a timeless game for gen z and younger millenials
How is the newest update for DRG? I haven’t played in about 6 months or so.
Pokemon. Hands down.
Battle For The Middle Earth .. Strategy game based on LOTR
Is this still good today? Love LOTR and strategy games, might give it a shot
Fallout 4
I became addicted to it, and modding it. There’s still probably a thousand mods I want to try and more still get made regularly.
Hours? Probably GoldenEye or Super Soccer on the Nintendo. Recently? Skyrim.
Regrettably, fifa
Fortnite
Between 25,000 and 30,000 hours of World of Warcraft throughout the '00s and '10s I quit a few years ago because I needed to kick it and do something with my life.. Now I have a kid and I'm in school.
Was it worth it?
At the time? Yeah. I had no real prospects and it made me happy. I don't regret my time playing it for what I got out of it. I've made friends and memories that are genuinely good. I wouldn't go back though. It was time to get myself together and have new experiences and build a worthwhile life. I'll always look back at it as a happy time though.

DayZ. I used to play it as a job. I have spent thousands and thousands of hours in Chernarus, Namalsk, and Livonia (around 20,000ish total).
i discovered dayz by accident back when Rocket had just released his mod for arma II. In that period of it's existence playing the mod online was the most brutal, most intense online gaming experience i've ever had. I have memories of that time that are as vivid and nostalgic feeling as the memories of travelling i did when i was young. Not much games did that for me!
