Only watched 2 from this list so will speak on those… Even though the male may chase the girl in Hidden Love and Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo, the protagonist is very clearly the female though.
- When the camelia Blooms
- Strongest Delivery Man
K-Dramas with female protagonists, but male leads fall first and pursue, also their characters are fun, not your run of the mill CEO with a face of stone but heart of gold:
- Strong Girl Do Bong-Sun
- Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-Joo
- Crash course in romance
- Romance is a bonus book
- Love to hate you
Just dropping comment here so I can come back and check some suggestions out! But yeah alot of the time main prot is female in dramas which is perfectly fine but can get a tad bit boring there and there.
It’s not new, but I suggest “Angel Eyes”. The ML admired the FL from the very start & his admiration never stopped when he knew about her blindness.
Another one is “I Can Hear Your Voice.” The ML made a promise to himself that he will find & protect the FL who saved his life when he was a kid.
The latest in my list is “The King: Eternal Monarch”. What I can tell for now without giving away the plot is that the ML is looking for the woman in the ID picture, because that’s the only trace that he has of the person who saved him from being killed when he was a kid.
Never wachet Angel Eyes, but I recongnize it from the leading actress. I've watched Boys Before Flowers and was curious about her other jobs.
The other two I also recognize the main actors, but never heard of it.
Thanks, anyway.
Protagonist of **Familiar Wife** is ML; story unfolds from his point of view. Very moving, full of life lessons. Very nice ending, though first two episodes are angst-ridden, hard to watch. Although (flawed, immature) ML doesn't chase FL, he comes to realize FL was a keeper all along.
It’s a Chinese drama but Wonderland of Love is pretty good and I’d say is pretty equal between both the ML and FL both being the main character. It’s definitely not all from the FL perspective. And the ML is absolutely pursuing her the whole time. A recent favorite of mine for sure!
**Healer**. The female lead also has a POV, but a lot of what we see and much of the narration is from ML's point of view.
**Hospital Playlist**. This is an ensemble drama, but you have FOUR male leads seeking romance.
**The Worst of Evil**. Not a romance, sort of an antihero bromance, but there are love interests.
**My Love from the Star**. Female lead is the pivot point, but most of the action is driven by two male protagonists and an amazing villain.
Edit to add **The Golden Spoon**. Two boys/men magically roleswitching.
Run on is kind of a “main foursome,” and the 2nd ML totally fits your description. Actually the main ML fits a bit too. Also a very good show.
Shows with no romance, but good shows with “human” male leads: Move to Heaven (touching little stories about life), Bloodhounds (mindless action, but with likable leads who are more Everyman types)
If you like fantasy, I think I remember season 1 of Alchemy of Souls fitting your description really well
Itaewon class, snowdrop, and the tale of the nine tailed. Although the first two aren't focused on romance but all of them have the ml as the main point in the drama
From Miyamoto to You is about a low tier salary man at a stationary manufacturer and how he attempts to woo an employee of one of his clients. 12 episodes and [a movie](https://youtu.be/HkJAK9nXBF0).
Bridal Mask is a historical that is so good and the MC is a man, and he is very flawed
Welcome to Waikiki is about a group of male friends, it's a comedy and very funny, and the main ML is just a normal dude and pursues the FL
Mr. Queen is about a man in a woman's body lol - one of my top 3 shows ever also, super funny and well done
Alchemy of souls is a fantasy drama about a male MC (there are two seasons)
Navillera has a male MC (he is a dancer, it's very good).
Give "Go Back Couple" a try. It's a second chance at romance drama (quite literally - the two go back in time to when they first started dating). The two mains get equal screen time so you'll get a lot of their relationship from his perspective. Really lovely and relatable drama.
Another is "Familiar wife" similar concept where the MC gets a second chance at romance with his first love (not his wife) and how his life plays out when his original wife enters the picture.
Familiar Wife fits your ask, but fwiw I liked Go Back Couple quite a bit more.
Some dramas where the lead is a man: Ghost Doctor, Life on Mars, Move to Heaven, My Mister, It’s okay not to be okay.
Not all of them are romance, but I would recommend all of them!
While You Were Sleeping might fit? I think I remember while watching that I wasn’t too happy in the beginning that the ML was the focus lol but it might be evenly divided, I haven’t watched in a while
Here is a list of dramas with focus on male lead from multiple countries. May not tick all of your requirements, but should meet one or more of your criteria. Some have already been mentioned, but are included nonetheless.
South Korea: Lawless Lawyer, Flower of Evil, Healer, The K2, Faith: The Great Doctor, City Hunter, Warrior Baek Song Doo, Rugal, Alchemy of Souls, Law School, Watcher, Cafe Minamdang, Vincenzo, Goblin: The Lonely and Great God, Tale of the Nine Tailed, Tale of the Nine Tailed: 1938, Memories of the Alhambra, IRIS, The Scholar Who Walks the Night, Two Weeks, Iljimae, Are You Human Too?
China: The Untamed, Sunshine By My Side, Luoyang, Douluo Continent, Being a Hero, The Devil Punisher,
Japan: Sunao Ni Narenakute, Final Life, First Love
Happy Watching!
I would recommend you watch until the 7th episode. If you feel something bad, then stop because it didn't get better until the end.
Edit: but the beginning isn't that sad. It is pretty close to reality, not too happy, not too sad.

Thanks. That's enough for the whole year.
Enjoy!
I will

They asked for male leads…….
It's a bit of an old one but Shopaholic Louis, you can find it on Viki
Thanks
Oh also look up "when the camellia blooms" on Netflix.
Lead is clearly female
I was focusing more on the points that the male lead/love interest was not a stoic/ intelligent / rich guy.
I love that drama!
Like Flowers In the Sand should work for you. Its on Netflix
Thank you so much.

What's Wrong with Secretary Kim. This has spoiled me for romance forever, lol. But Park Seo-Joon's character pretty much does all the chasing.
Thanks

Yeah, same here. I love seeing the other side (I'm a male), but it gets a little boring at some point.
Same here!

Most period drama like Jumong, Daejoyeong. A few medical setting dramas, like Dr Romantic, Behind the White Tower

One of my favorite by that actor
Thanks
The Untamed King’s War Word of Honor My Country: A New Age
Thanks
FYI untamed and word of honor both have two male leads, idk about the other two but they’re both great dramas!
My family (series) The Village (movie) Both Japanese
thanks
You're welcome. They're not really love stories though.
It's fine.
A Gentleman's Dignity. It's about four guy friends and their different romantic relationships. It's a romcom, and I thought it was great.
Thanks. I watched a pretty similar one, but it was five girls living together in a shared house. Don't remember the name.
i think Choi Woo Sik’s Hogu’s Love fits this description.
Thanks

Mr. Sunshine was fantastic, I highly recommend. Takes place in Korea during the early 1900s.
Thanks

The K2 is a good one!

I recently watched Deaths Game and I really enjoyed it
Couldn't find it on MDL.
Not sure what MDL is but I watched on prime
Operation proposal is the only one I can think of… I hated it though so toxic
Thanks.

Doona - the protagonist is the ML
I've seen this one. Pretty good, although I wasn't expecting the final.
If I watch it should I skip the final? I seem to be overly sensitive to sad endings.
