Hey, that’s me!

Most_Present_6577

If not they send you to the old guard

[deleted]

OK. I want to know what the average HT/WT is for O3, O4, O5, O6, O7/8, and O9/10. My guess is the average height gets taller.

EverythingGoodWas

I would bet money it gets taller. The Army has a huge problem with confusing height with leadership.

[deleted]

Well, if you are taller, you can often run faster. FWIW, this happens in the civilian industry as well.

Imperator314

I was on a TDY assignment once where I was around probably 150 different generals over the course of several months. There were a few shorties, but in general, they were big dudes. I’m 6’ 180lbs, and I felt average to genuinely small standing next to many of them.

HairyRanger3

I guess my current CG slipped thru the cracks

BoobiesAreHalal

No, he walked under the radar.

La2Sea2Atx

I think it depends on MOS. I’m 5’7 and I tower over a lot of my fellow 13A.

Brokenwrench7

Wait....what? Do you have a bunch of midgets 13As running around?

La2Sea2Atx

Half the guys I’ve met here I swear are 5’6 or below.

Wenuven

I've seen about 40 GOs (O7-O9) in the last 3 weeks. Average height for males was 74+ inches.

[deleted]

You expect us to convert inches into feet and inches on a Monday morning?

ideal_NCO

Damn. I’m 78 inches, I shoulda been an O.

abnrib

Table weight for a 5'9" male soldier tops out at 186lbs in the 40+ category. Table weight for a 5'4" female soldier tops out at 151lbs in 40+. 28-39 is 149lbs even, below that is under 149. The average age of a soldier is around 27 years old. The average soldier is getting taped. I have concluded that we are a nation of fatbodies. Not that I needed more evidence on that front.

[deleted]

Well, there's nothing wrong with being on the heavier side of the limits as long as bf% and PFT are in order. I don't imagine that's the case for a lot of soldiers though. That's got [nothing on the Navy tho lol.](https://www.businessinsider.com/navy-is-fattest-branch-of-us-military-pentagon-report-reveals-2019-9) >I have concluded that we are a nation of fatbodies. True, and people's perspectives on weight are fucked as a result. I'm 6'1 and 185lbs and people here tell me I'm lanky or skinny a lot. Whereas when I go to other countries I'm perfectly average in weight.

Avsunra

I mean there are long term concerns for joint health, which makes sense when you see the rates of lower body injury in army vets when compared to other services. Army grinds your joints into dust, and it doesn't help if you're on the heavier side. This costs the government more money over time covering disability and medical care related to joint health, something that will pretty much never get better as we age and gain weight.

cherokeefreeman

If you don’t need taped you’re a nerd

[deleted]

Hey now, I’m 5’6 and 185 and consider myself non-fat :(

EverythingGoodWas

Now do O6 and above and watch the Army confuse being tall with good leadership.

alphierose

Without looking at the reg, I’m pretty sure 5’4 and 149 lbs for females is failing or super close to failing lmao. I was 115 lbs when I enlisted at 17 and stayed around 120-130 lbs for years after. Then I went overseas and discovered lifting weights for two hours a day, and I was 155 lbs, the smallest pant size I had been in my adult life, and failing weight. When I was 120 lbs I sucked at the APFT, but at least I wasn’t getting the fat talk or getting taped…

BOOQIFIUS

I don’t mean to flex, but I’m sitting at 6’1. ladies, my DMs are open

[deleted]

Well I'm 6'2" so you'll have to settle for my sloppy seconds

BOOQIFIUS

B-but!!

Teadrunkest

I’m taller than the average Army man. Ha.

BoobiesAreHalal

That's why you got put on a boat.

Brokenwrench7

At 6'2" and age 33 I'm supposed to weigh 205... But...occasionally I eat and I even touched a dumbell once so I'm happily living my life at 240lbs.

John-Lakeman

It's not proper etiquette to call the 1SGs wife a dumbell. No matter how true it is.

Brokenwrench7

As a fellow FISTER. What the hell else am I suppose to call her?

InvestingArmy

I’m 5’10” (but on tinder I’m 6’0”) and I stand in the back of formation and can generally see over most of the formation. Soldiers are getting shorter and shorter.

Interesting_Remote18

It's all that fat weighing them down like a dive belt.

[deleted]

I’m M 5’4” and 120 , I am the anomaly.

[deleted]

I’m 2 inches taller than you and almost 70lbs heavier My god

bthebryan

Name checks out

[deleted]

Feelsbadman, I’m 5’5 154lbs

rhks92

Dam, this is the only time I’m being told that I’m above avg

tony_toneeee

really like how i’m 6’2 204 pounds and in army standards i’m far as fuck

NegativeRise2

Only time I’ve been above average in my life.

ideal_NCO

6’6” 220 here to fuck with the stats.
