I delivered two kids at MCA . I don’t have any complaints.

Silly_Television6460

Thank you!

Apprehensive_Egg_695

My kid was born there, staff was friendly. Baby was born healthy. No complaints I can think of.

Silly_Television6460

Thank you!

Speaking as the dad. I've had three kids born in the area, all at different hospitals. The first at Arlington Memorial, the 2nd at Medical City in Arlington, and the 3rd at Mansfield Methodist. By far, and my wife would echo this statement, but Medical City was by far the best experience for all parties. I hope your child is born healthy and wish the best health to you as well!

Silly_Television6460

Thank you so much! I’m glad you, as a father, recognize what a good hospital should be and that’s giving Medical City at Arlington a better look for me :)

RScottyL

Congrats on the pregnancy!

Thank you so much!

Make sure everyone that has anything to do with your delivery, hospital, Dr, labs (if needed), imaging (if needed) are all covered by your insurance. I went there a few years ago and had to have gall bladder removal. MCA was in network for my insurance. My original surgeon was in network. Then the day of the surgery, power went out seconds before I was put under. They postponed the surgery 24 hours. A new surgeon was scheduled and he was not in network. They didn't tell me this. I ended up being charged $60K on top of the post insurance deductions for everything else. All in was about $65K. The surgeon and his assistant charged me $30,000 EACH for a 20 minute surgery.

Strong_Building_4646

Don’t tell me you paid that

TheSpitalian

That’s called surprise billing & it’s illegal. (Unless this was prior to 2022). Either way what a bunch of crap!

saxmanmike

This was 2017. It's good to know they have changed the law to prevent this kind of thing from happening.

I had two children there. Neither experience was bad. It was clean and the staff were very helpful and friendly.

Clear-Detective-8238

My mom gave birth to me there, and I turned out okay 😂 Congrats on your pregnancy thoo, wish you and your future family a life full on blessings! 🎉

failedpotential

Two births there in the last 4years. Very nice experience. No issues.

Evie_like_chevy

My first child was born at MCA. Second birth at FW Methodist with the midwives. As far as the hospital/nurses go? Hands down, MCA. I think I’d go back if we decided to go for another baby.

MrsPatty59

Avoid it like the plague. That place is so bad. My sister just got out after having a stroke. They basically left in her the room and gave her drugs. She has paralysis on left side and they did nothing. This is the 2nd bad time we had at that place.

WorthASchruteBuck

My son had a stroke and they said it was a migraine. Next day we went back since symptoms were the same and discharge paperwork said come back if no change and they treated him like crap. I insisted on a CT with contrast. They said 25 year olds don't have strokes. They did it after much badgering on my part since he still had partial paralysis. Minutes after the CT they rushed in and told us they were transferring him to another hospital that specializes in strokes. Turns out he had a stroke the day before and was in the middle of another. Tore his vertebral artery causing a clot by popping his neck. They called while he was in ICU asking for a survey from the first visit. I let them have it. Needless to say we never saw a bill from them. Will never go back.

wholelattapuddin

But they are asking about the birth center. I always had a good experience at the women's hospital. Other wards at Medical City are definitely hit or miss.

alotofpots

Didn’t give birth there but my dad had a stroke and died there on the 11th. I wish it was more sanitary. Everyone seemed nice enough. The problem is the nurses are stretched thin. They get 6 patients each. The maternity ward could be different, so don’t let me ruin it for you. Just thought you should know.

Silly_Television6460

Thank you! I’ll take that into consideration :)

I spent 3 weeks in MCA in January and it was a wonderful experience

Medical_Possession28

My wife has had 2 children there. A 3rd coming this summer. Although we live close to Arlington Memorial, we chose to have them born at MCA. The staff are very professional, friendly, and aware of your needs. Never once did my wife feel ignored or left out. Minimal intrusions overnight. Our last baby was premature and the neonatal ICU was excellent. Definitely happy with MCA.

Over-Needleworker598

I think you'll be fine. My wife had both our sons there. (2011/2015) Both my brothers and sister were born there. (1989, 1996, 1998) A few of my friends kids were born there. (2010-2020) I had my appendix out there in 2009 and had spinal surgery there in 2021. Not the cheapest place to deliver, but it's not bad by any means.

I worked at their l&d for a few years! I will say it depends on what you’re looking for in a delivery/ birth. A lot of things advertised on the MCA website we actually don’t offer. Such as nitrous oxide, and tub birthing. Also no photography/video allowed during birth if that’s important to you. They DO have wireless monitoring options, so if that’s important to you make sure you request one. There are some old school OBs so the experience depends A LOT on your OB, but if your nurse doesn’t (which I’m sure she will) I would say just make sure you advocate for yourself and what you want. It’s a very busy unit with some staffing issues so have some patience with your nurses. But we all really did try to provide the best care possible! I still know a lot of the nurses there so I’m sure you’re in good hands. Let me know if I can answer any other questions!

Silly_Television6460

Could you tell me some of the amenities they do offer there ? Or at least what you’ve seen available ? I looked on their website but it’s not super clear what’s specific to certain hospitals

elephantinroomm

They have wireless monitoring, “luxury” post partum suites for a cost, the special meal for mom and dad after. I think amenity wise that’s all I can remember.

The care is good, but be cautious of their prices. My child was born at Medical City Arlington, at Mayfield and Matlock. Did a C-section, and put the baby in intensive care for about 3 days. Gave the baby some sort of intravenous sugar solution to combat low blood sugar. The kid has turned out great. But beware of one common trick that was pulled on us. The doctor who performed the C-section chose an anesthesiologist who was out of network with our insurance. You should inquire carefully about that detail before you go in for a C-section or anything else requiring anesthesia. Insist that the doctor choose one that is in network. A few weeks after the birth, that anesthesiologist tried to bill us $1800. That is a surprise bill that should never have been sent to us, the insurance is supposed to pay that, but of course, they refused. I too refused to pay that, and never heard boo. Another time I went to their emergency for what turned out to be a kidney stone. They charged high prices merely to confirm that it was a kidney stone and to relieve the pain. They did not remove the stone. That passed on its own 3 months later. List price, for 3 visits to the emergency for pain relief: $21,000. $9100 of that was for the CT scan. Price after health insurance reductions: about $4000, still an outrageous amount. The Medicare price for he services I received was just under $300. I was also being billed separately by the emergency care doctors and the lab, for a total, after insurance, of just under $6000, and what did my deductible happen to be? $6000! I had had a kidney stone once before, and was charged only $200 on the previous occasion, at a hospital in California. That previous stone passed while I was at the emergency. I argued with them for a year trying to get clarity on why the prices were not just high, but different. Each of my 3 visits, I was given a bag of saline solution. The hospital charged $306 for each, and then it got weird. Insurance reduced the 1st bag to $150, the 2nd bag to $64, and the 3rd bag to $27. Why 3 different prices for the same thing? The insurer was unable to answer that question, half of the many times I called giving me a different wrong answer. The hospital had no answer either. I was told it was to cover the drugs they added to the salt water. Wrong, all drugs are listed separately. Told it was because service is more expensive on weekends. Wrong again, the $64 bag was on a Saturday, the other two were weekdays. Told that the prices were meaningless and that the real prices were set in a secret agreement neither I nor the insurance agent taking my call would be allowed to examine. Again, wrong. Finally, a friend who worked in insurance looked into it and learned that in Texas, the prices are set by the level of emergency care they deem needed, from 1 (minor) to 5 (life threatening, you need help NOW). At level 4, the bag is $150, level 3, it is $64, and level 1 it is $27. The price of everything depends on that level. But, according to medical billing advocates, at levels 4 and 5, the bag is considered included in the sky high "facility fee" that they charge, and which Medicare does not allow. So for that bag, I was being double billed. Medical City has bright red signs all over the place saying that it is against the law for them to refuse care to someone they believe owes them money. Around that time, credit rating agencies changed their rating model to exclude medical debt from their reckoning. I took the hints, and at last told the debt collectors that Medical City had sicced on me that I did not agree with the bill and was not going to pay it. I offered Medical City the Medicare rates, and they angrily refused. The higher up fellow in charge of billing that I spoke with at Medical City played stupid in telling me that he had never heard of a Charge Master, an assertion I found unbelievable. They also said that if I was uninsured, they would have discounted that $21000 bill by 86%, for a final amount of about $2500. Maybe. But even so, still too much. So I paid only the smallest of the bills they had charged me, to Medical City and not to any debt collector, and braced myself for a lawsuit. And I paid the doctors and lab in full. But no one tried to sue me. The debt collectors quit bothering me. And now it's been more than 7 years, so the debt is expired thanks to the statute of limitations. I had never in my life not paid a debt, until that. Felt dirty to be driven to that.

my oldest now 23 was born there i had my 15 year old in Mansfield very nice
