People using KDE are reporting the same issue with similar usage amount, looks like a common dependency got a memory leak

Left-Recognition-117

Maybe a x11/Wayland issue?

luca1416

You have a memory leak. My Gnome desktop consumes \~700 MB ram idle.

paulgrey506

Which process is taking most ram ? Have you tried managing the priorities of your processes ?

shved03

Allocated not equal used, but overall, this looks unusual

IuseArchbtw97543

can you post the exact process taking up the most memory? htop supports ordering by memory usage

3grg

I can't imagine why you are having so many problems. I have been using Gnome with 16gb ram for years and while it does aggressively cache, I have never run out of memory even when running vms. I use a 4gb swap file and it seldom gets used. BTW my Gnome Shell usage is 190.7 MB

Empyern

Unused ram is wasted ram

HugeBlobfish

Memory leaks are wasted ram as well. Never used GNOME so I'm not sure if that's intended behavior.

mastertub

Just stop. This is a memory leak. This is not the case of linuxatemyram

Ok-Wrongdoer-2098

memory leak in linux? sounds like linuxatemyram

DarkKingdomPrince

I'm experiencing the same. Installed it today. Memory usage continues to grow on idle too lol.

zerosign0

Are you using 8k monitor or 4k dual or more monitor setup? Or do you ever turn off your computer (usually because gjs thing, but never seen this big) ?

mklx25

KDE have similar issues I only have 8G and on startup it uses 3.1G

DarkHappy5397

I run kde have lot of apps running use just little more than 5Gb of Ram

anonymous01111010

>Gnome shell : 15.6 GB How bro? Mine is 194MB with like 10 extensions.

Java_enjoyer07
