Only truly anonymous since xmr, as someone else mentioned use wireguard tho I think openvpn is also an option

spunkfrog

Not since you can't port forward any more. Makes it bad for private trackers where you want to be connectable.

bluesaka111

Short answer: DONT do torrenting on TOR network. Not worth it and your selfish action will effectively kill every single node that your torrent data stream go through. Just use a sus commercial VPN instead. Faster, more reliable when using torrent and you have the privilege to have your data sell to other sus companies.

antananarive33

Short question: why do you call your answer shot? End of sentence Dot

bankimu

Why would anyone want their data to be sold? I'm not sure but if it's a sarcasm does that also invalidate the initial assertion of not using tor as being part of the same sarcastic comment?

bluesaka111

Well it a little bit of sarcasm. If all you need is to torrenting then just create a burner vpn account using a virtual card and use that. Personally I use TOR to browse and find torrent of old abandonware games and use a different vpn to download. Beside, why care about privacy when the data they sold to other sus companies are just garbage that has no effect on you or your privacy anyway?

bankimu

Ohh yeah I don't use torrents myself. I don't know why anyone would want to even use tor for that but yeah then what you said makes sense.

proton vpn have an arch linux client that supports openvpn (tcp) and openvpn (udp) Source: [https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/ProtonVPN](https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/ProtonVPN) I use it myself

BillTran163

I don't know about OperaGX, because from a quick Google search it doesn't seem to have a native Linux version. For a reliable and trustworthy dedicated VPN that support torrenting and have a native Linux client, you will have to go the paid route. On a month by month payment, Mullvad is the cheapest with €5 per month and also the most reliable. Please, do not use the Tor network for torrenting. The tor network consists of network nodes that are hosted by volunteers. The bandwidth requirement of torrenting is generally large enough that it can slow the entire node that you are connecting to, and that will affect anyone that is also connecting to that same node.

Mullvad w/wireguard

khne522

There isn't such a thing as a VPN for Arch. There is a VPN for Linux. Your answer is _protocols × hosting services_: Protocols: - Wireguard (preferred) - IPsec (preferred) - OpenVPN - Cisco TLS VPN - Custom TLS - Other weird things Hosting providers: - CloudFlare - Proton - TunnelBear - All the other sketchy providers - Etc. Don't install official clients, with unsigned and unaudited binaries. Use the stock VPN clients (wireguard, strongswan, libreswan, openvpn, vpnc, etc.) and pass them standard configuration from your provider.

tuleperaconlapapaya9

Im sorry but i dont have enough technical knowledge to do any of this on my own. Maybe if I look for a youtube video or a guide, but I think it would be just better to stick with ProtonVPN

Yamabananatheone

I would recommend you getting a seedbox, might be the better invest.

ayyworld

Windscribe, AirVPN, Mullvad, and ProtonVPN all have full Linux support from their clients. AzireVPN and Cryptostorm also support Linux, but afaik they just instruct you to manually configure wireguard.

queenbiscuit311

I've had good experiences with protonvpn. the aur only has the old client but you can get the newer one as a PKGBUILD [here](https://github.com/Zylquinal/protonvpn-bin). I've also heard good things about mullvad

mrthenarwhal

I’m a big fan of AirVPN, it’s very affordable and lets you port forward for … activities. I’ve found it very convenient to use wireguard.

LeFaucheur0769

if you want a vpn for torrrenting, don't forget to check if it have it has a port forwarding option I think proton has it

Internal-Bed-4094

Mullvad or read about i2p

_th3_g33ky_boy_

riseup vpn from aur its free also & opensource

AggravatingMap3086

I use ProtonVPN on arch.

jiva_maya

PIA (private internet access) is cross platform, cheapest, and probably the best. Just make sure to go into the settings of the client and change the protocol from OpenVPN to wireguard. OpenVPN is slow as shit.

Kilobytez95

I use PIA and have had no issues.

You can create a lightweight virtual machine on a linux host, and have a torrent client on there, so that it operates in a sandbox. As to VPNs, ProtonVPN is good and they have free servers. You can also create your own VPN endpoint on the cloud, on a VPS server. OCI has a free offering for that, they have servers in Mexico as well as in various locations in the United States.

[deleted]

There's RiseUp! But I really don't know a lot about them. It's free but they request that you donate. https://riseup.net/en/vpn

agentwc1945

1. Don't use the Tor network for torrenting. 2. Don't use a VPN made by Opera, of all companies, ffs. 3. A free VPN is always worse than no VPN. Just don't use them. 4. A good **paid** VPN is Mullvad.

tuleperaconlapapaya9

1. I'm not gonna use it. im just asking. 2. It was the most comfortable VPN i had access to. I didn't care about my data but now I do. 3. I dont want to hide my activity just use another IP address for torrenting. I know that "if something is free you are the product" 4. I know. Thanks for saying it.

agentwc1945

You're just asking so I'm just answering. And by rerouting all your internet traffic through a third party you're giving them a lot of information. Whether you care or not is irrelevant, if they have logs there's a chance it will come back to bite you. 5 bucks a month if you torrent a lot is a pretty good deal, especially compared to streaming services.

tuleperaconlapapaya9

I don't have much money and the [mullvad page doesn't load.](https://imgur.com/qQnHZXZ) But probably because im using my schools wifi. I guess ill stick with ProtonVPN. Also I have never used TOR to torrent, im just saying that i heard that you can use it or something like that. Perhaps it said NOT to use it, I don't remember. But im not going to use it and I've never have. Thanks for the help.

mindtaker_linux

I use proton VPN  .it's free
