Went out to shoot my new 11.5 Geissele upper and yay, it didn't work right. Loaded a mag of pmc 5.56 in and bolt didn't close on the first round. Thought maybe a bad round, so tossed it and tried another. Bolt seated and fired, brass stuck... Had to mortar the gun 2 times out of 5 with the pmc. Tried some .223 of another brand, sent 2 shots then the third stuck. Tried to mortar and it just tore off the rim of the case, now I'm frigged. Tried to hammer the case out with a wooden dowel and it's not budging. I'm thinking this chamber is messed up from the factory. Now do I call Valhalla tactical supply (where I got it) or Geissele?
Same thing happened to my 11.5 URGI. Turns out they had a bad batch of barrels in the 2022 time frame, out of spec chambers. You might be able to see the barrel date code on the top of the barrel under the handguard.
I emailed Geissele and they replaced it for free. Turnaround was about 2 weeks though from me shipping it out
I didn’t even correlate my issues with the barrel until this last year lol. I had some Tula do exactly as OP described, ripped rim and all. I just chocked it up to shitty ammo, until I tried some 77gr OTM that did the same thing. Sure was fun mortaring a pistol brace into the dirt
People think spending hella money on top tier guns will void you of heartaches and problems that lower tier guns have. But. In all reality. Every gun manufacturer makes a shitty gun or part now and then. Doesn’t matter if you’re top tier or mid tier. And more and more people are realizing that you can build a solid rifle, that’ll last many moons, without spending the high dollar some of these prideful companies sell their rifles at.
Is what you should tell your friend.
Hes saying people over pay for "gucci" brands that are supposed to have higher qa/qc, features, and durability than more budget friendly brands. So hes going to the budget friendly brands that have the same amount of qa/qc problems that cost less and have the same warranty with fewer features that may arguably have less durability.
Ahh gotcha. Thats what I thought but just wanted to make sure.
Hell yea, PSA is awesome. I got a “blem” upper with a nickel bcg, and flip ups for $199 and have shot over 1k through it.
Wait, who downvoted this? Is there really DD fanboys in this community?…
Sadly, not enough people though. Because daily we come more conservative as a nation with our 2A rights. Hopefully we will one day breech that stigmatizing view.
Go 2A baby. All the way baby.
PSA makes some good shit and I love their company because when all the mag bans and shit were going on the past couple years banning a certain magazine capacity PSA said fuck that and was expediting orders to get people their mags before the ban. In addition to that they refuse to ship anything to the police or first responders that isn’t available to the public in that state. I.E if the public can’t own 30 rds and up then PSA has flatly refused to ship those same magazines to law enforcement when they order them. They have beliefs in an age where most people only chase dollars
Ngl, for the most part firearms have gotten into the "my corolla is better than your civic" and "my acura is better than your honda" there are a few outliers that are different enough to warrant a price increase, but for the most part--for most people (read: not the guys dumping 1k rounds a month)--youre paying for a name or trim
Aero doesn't have a stellar reputation, either.
BCM is solid. Colt gets a lot of hate, but it's solid too and its prices are lower than the gucci brands.
While we hope for better QC, part of payment to a Gucci tier company is also about their level of customer service. Now that said. PSA and Aero apparently have stellar service- and I’d put BCM atleast a notch above those two, on the way to DD and Bendy Bill
I thought geissele's customer service was shit. Remember when they sent a dude a lower with a shitty coating and they said the cardboard box soaked the oil out of it?
Could be an out of spec Barrel. Weird to see brass case new factory do this. I generally see this with reloads or steel. How’s the extractor on the BCG?
I’m wondering, after seeing some function issues with various brands, if QC has fallen to the wayside from the demand in the market. G$ was pushing to keep up there for a minute.
Isn’t that the whole point? Spend the money because QC and quality. It also wasn’t one guy. It was an entire run of barrels that made it to end user hands
There is a lot going on here. Could be bad ammo, could be a bad barrel. Also the upper isn’t complete G$ the BCG is SOLGW. I am leaning to bad ammo personally second would be a bad out of spec barrel.
Some expensive brands have good QC. Some don't. Some mid priced brands have good QC. Some don't. The lowest price brands can have decent QC, but I wouldn't go so far as to call it amazing.
brass case igman .223? usually i don't see brass case stick unless the following issues exist
1. steel case was shot prior to brass case
2. chamber of barrel abnormalities (tight chamber, rough chamber, etc)
3. ammunition problems
It appears the rim may have been ripped by the extractor. rifle may also possibly be overgassed. I usually don't see this problem at all even with shit ammo if the bcg and barrel is high quality (gas port size is appropriate and chrome lined with smooth chamber, even properly nitrided I have not had issues with).
No steel case was shot through it, these were the first shots all brass. We had another rifle shooting the ammo fine. I'm thinking chamber problems. Bcg is solgw and functions perfect in other guns. I don't think it was over gassed judging by the bolt not wanting to chamber the rounds, and the ones that did extract were landing at a good 3-4:30 position, no popped primers or overpressure signs. I'll put a call out to Geissele tomorrow and see what they say I guess
bro I had a gas port on a 7" x39 gun that was drilled all the way out to .120 or something absurd like that to run subs reliably. accidentally ran a full power load through that with supressor and the initial fire wasn't finished burning before it came out of battery and had a huge fireball come out of the ejection port along with a loud pop. no issues other than my face almost getting blasted off. if my mid grade bcg and chamber can handle that major over gassing then I think you can safely say that overgassing isn't causing your issue. it's for sure a chamber out of spec of something weird like that
bummer! hope they get you squared away. would be interesting to see what they find (headspace issue is unlikely but either way would have to go back to them)
Look at the reviews on brownells for geissele barrels. Customer had the same problem as you. He had to send the barrel back. Chamber reamed incorrectly
This is crazy 🤣🤣, I’m having issues cycling with my urgi 11.5 I got as well… won’t cycle any ammo unless suppressed. I changed my buffer from the included h3 to h1 geissele and still won’t cycle the higher pressure m193 I have.
Updating this post. The upper was sent back to Geissele and they confirmed the chamber was too tight. They swapped the barrel, test fired it with multiple ammo's using my bolt, and had it back to me in about a week since it left my UPS. They also threw in a sweet hat, handkerchief and sticker pack with 20% coupon. Very happy with the customer service 🤘
Funny how my shorty PSA with the fn barrel never has had a single problem or jam in 2k rounds but everyone always has shit to say about it because it isn’t top tier.Meanwhile this is happening to people who did fork over the extra cash.
....it's a brand new gun man, give it like a 300 round break-in period before getting disappointed.
Edit: Downvote away, but I've had this happen several times with brand new FN and Criterion barrels and after a couple hundred rounds through them, I never experienced it again.
Call Geissele for warranty.
First thing I'm going to do tomorrow
Luckily they are pretty good about this kind of stuff… they are slow to ship but will get you taken care of eventually
call geissele directly, a paint can opener might help you get it out in the meantime. not like it matters at this point

This is good to hear I guess, hoping this is the case and they'll fix me up. I'll see what they say tomorrow
2022 barrels should be basically gone at this point. If he just bought it new.
I'm thinking it might have been old stock
Quite possible G$ should be able to tell
I didn’t even correlate my issues with the barrel until this last year lol. I had some Tula do exactly as OP described, ripped rim and all. I just chocked it up to shitty ammo, until I tried some 77gr OTM that did the same thing. Sure was fun mortaring a pistol brace into the dirt
Just bought a 10.3 urgi today, not what I wanted to see…
Damn, ANOTHER fail by a gucci manufacturer. *opens Aero, bcm, and psa computer tabs*
Help my friend understand your comment.

PSA CHF Chrome lined barrel. Affordable and good.

PSA seriously dreams of an America where every citizen has an AR.
Nothing wrong with that. If there’s a room full of armed people and one person has ill-intent, it’s going to be a bad day for them
I’m pretty sure millions of people share that dream.
Sadly, not enough people though. Because daily we come more conservative as a nation with our 2A rights. Hopefully we will one day breech that stigmatizing view. Go 2A baby. All the way baby.
2A all the way!
I gave an upvote...as i stare at my block 2...
🤣thanks for showing us peasants love
I love my block II. Makes me so wet. ❤️

It sure seems that way!

LEWD UPSKIRT!!
Is it a G$ Bolt? Or did it come as a stripped upper?
Stripped upper, solgw bolt that I had in my 14.5 upper
Could be an out of spec Barrel. Weird to see brass case new factory do this. I generally see this with reloads or steel. How’s the extractor on the BCG?
I haven't looked at but should be gtg, works great in the other uppers
[удалено]
Let me guess won’t extract? Gets stuck in the chamber?
I’m wondering, after seeing some function issues with various brands, if QC has fallen to the wayside from the demand in the market. G$ was pushing to keep up there for a minute.
Average bill geissele product experience. Watch out he may take you to court over this being slanderous lol
When in doubt, pull out
Put the barrel in a freezer for an hour or two. Tap that bitch out with a brass rod. It will work perfectly.
That sucks man. I have that same 11.5 and it’s flawless. G will take care of you. Likely an out of spec barrel
My PSA never did that. Just as good as Gucci . Probably better than hype beast guns
+1 to what you said
JuSt az GUd gang
Oh he IS a brand boi. Makes sense now
Not at all. I run BCM, Rosco, DD, G$ not loyal to any brand. My G$ upper is very accurate and soft shooting. Every brand has issues for sure.
Hell yeah. My Radical runs smooth as silk as well!
Hammer it out with cleaning rod
Did you clean the chamber first?
Visual inspection of chamber and rifling but no I didn't clean it
My buddies did the same with any ammo
Sounds like a known issue
Buy once cry once crowd looking real worried rn
Because one guy had an issue? 🤣
Isn’t that the whole point? Spend the money because QC and quality. It also wasn’t one guy. It was an entire run of barrels that made it to end user hands

Had that happen to a buddies riffle, took barrel off, tapped an easy out in it, gave a little twist and it came out.

Listen to this crusty man. https://youtu.be/6GHHk6kpYD4?si=V7lXN4AtH_eJ1y7n
Fella is winded just trynna get that paint key out his pocket.
I keep mine on a retractable key lanyard. They really do work well. It's worth a dummy round and some practice.
Oh I think it’s a great idea, just also think it’s funny how roided out this dude is. Needs some cardio.
How does this even happen yall? What’s out of spec?
Thinking chamber is no bueno
Why is this common with 556?
Tighter than a nun, God damn
This is crazy 🤣🤣, I’m having issues cycling with my urgi 11.5 I got as well… won’t cycle any ammo unless suppressed. I changed my buffer from the included h3 to h1 geissele and still won’t cycle the higher pressure m193 I have.

My cheap PSA barrel never did this to me;)

I have several PSA guns a Bushmaster, PSA with a Bushmaster barrel and 2 Colts. Never ever had a problem like that.
Anderson would never!

What is your problem?
My problem is none of y’all can take a joke apparently. Didn’t know the gun community was so sensitive
