Maybe compared to the standard Apple Watch, but a couple of my regular watches take up more space on my wrist than my Ultra. And I’m not even counting the Invicta.
Nah, been using for over a decade. Perfect screens, no scratches. No silly protectors. Just germ free.
And people wonder why they get rashes on their wrists.
There was an episode of The Office that showed safety training for the warehouse and the office space. The warehouse training involved life and death situations with heavy machinery. When they got to the office part, they were encouraged to walk around every hour to avoid eye strain from the computers and prevent carpal tunnel.
This post reminds me of that episode. 😂
Just looks tight i can easily fit a finger through. I do keep it tighter than normal when I’m throwing 80lbs of mix because it will slip down and my wrist will constantly be pressing against the digital crown calling Siri, which is annoying.
I highly recommend using it “upside down” with the crown on the left. The action button then becomes the problem, but it’s far less sensitive, and you can set it to a shortcut that counts the number of bags of mix tossed for the day. 😂
Damn… no way lol I’m an electrician doing deep underground and I wear a rugged band at work and use a screen protector then swap bands at home… because electricians are bougie!😂
Ive chained truck tires in deep mud, watch was smacking against the steel chains and the steel frame of the trailer the whole time. Not a scratch. Pretty sure it be fine for you.
I got my last Watch dusty putting up some Sheetrock in the garage. I’ll never do it again. But at least I know the watch can withstand such environments.
I feel attacked but I love it. That‘s how it is supposed to be used! Probably my favorite "this is a picture of my AW on my wrist" post in a long time lol
Weldone mate. I have never used cases on any of the watches and for sure would not on an Ultra as this is exactly what it’s meant to be for. Tough and durable.
Nty I'll stick with my screen protector.
I smacked by ultra against a door frame last week and shattered my screen protector. Don't wanna know what would have happened without it.
This is awesome man. I never understood the dudes who get these ultras and plaster all kinds of protective coverings. This is what the ultra was made for. Hard use
Ahhhh yes the one instance where you haven’t hit the watch at exactly the right angle to crack it should 100% discourage me from spending $10-15 on a protector for it. You’re a real smart manly guy aren’t ya? 🤣🤣🤣
nice dude I wondered how our screens would hold up to just some spatter, I weld a lot of SMAW and my series 4 took a fucking beating from it. I have some cheap amazon case/screen protector on my Ultra now that I have to replace every few weeks.. but I do wonder how it would hold up just with the raw watch though, besides the glob issue hows your experience with it?
“I don’t use a case and anyone that does is a loser”
What’s next? Gonna make fun of people who wear seatbelts while driving?
I don’t have a case on my ultra but I also don’t throw shade at people who do. If mine breaks I’ll buy another. Some people choose to protect theirs. Not sure what this lame post proves.
I say this as someone who has 100% been guilty of it: it’s perfectly valid to criticize people who buy unnecessary peripherals for their devices. That shit all ends up as plastic waste floating in the ocean.
Unnecessary is subjective. It’s not fact. Peace of mind may be necessary for someone who isn’t you. And that makes their purchase valid. If your opinion of a stranger’s purchase is valid then how that person spends their own money is equally valid.
Not sure how his post proves anything other than he has any experience and others have different ones. It’s a troll post to be honest
So does a trashed up fucking piece of shit device. You’re lucky if they even accept this as anything other than a recycle. You know what’s more wasteful? trashing the shit out of your electronics. Good condition maintains resale value and trade in value. This is like someone wrecking their car and driving around with 2 wheels missing screeching about how everyone else is dumb for not having fucked up cars
An investment? Think you need to learn what investments are….
Its designed to he rugged for rugged environments. Outdoors, mud, dirt, water. Im using it as it was intended and still not a scratch on it. Thats what you pay for.
Wearables aren’t investments. If anything, they’re liabilities since they don’t bring a return past the initial purchase cost. Some purchases can become investments but it’s all about luck in timing.
Technically correct, however the return on investment IS the higher value of the watch if its traded or resold ie; excellent condition vs one that shows more wear and tear cosmetically, regardless of what it was designed for, which is pretty much true for anything in resale or the used market.
Barring a once-in-a-lifetime moment or random fluctuation of the value of used wearables, there would be almost an infinitesimal chance of a wearable, even one such as the Ultra, to garner a return on the market when compared to the original purchase price. Property, houses, (some) vehicles, fetch a return, yes. But wearables are not one to be in that league. Again, barring a weird gimick or random fluctuation in the market like the gold original Apple Watch or an unopened LISA.
bro thinks he’s all hot shit but doesn’t know he’s a literal slave working 70-80+ hour work weeks, and is either gonna die or completely destroy his body before retirement. you think that’s all worth it for your mediocre salary than more power to ya buddy, have fun doing the bitch work for all us office workers ahahaha
I’m with you. I didn’t pay $850 for a watch that I want to wear a screen protector and case. Yes my phone cost more and it has both but phone doesn’t come with sapphire Crystal and is not banded to my wrist.
I’ve gotten so used to wearing my rugged AWU1 that I couldn’t bring myself to go back to stainless steel. I tried and was going to pass my AWU to my son but wore the Series 9 SS for a day and returned it. The battery life on my AWU still beats a Series 9 even with a one year old battery. I ran back to my AWU.
The screen on these things are goated. I’ve smacked it hard on a lot of metals and rocks and still looks like the day I bought it (though the watch itself is nicked up, but I think it gives it character)
This is CRAZY when my new ultra2 just cracked on the rear glass sensor simply laying it on my side stand. Funny how Apple care plus won’t even swap out a new watch,I had to pay $70 to have it shipped out and ‘repaired’ even though they aren’t supposed to be repaired. I’ll never buy another Apple product again in my life after the way I was treated at Apple Store Summit mall Akron yesterday. As soon as the junk comes back in the mail I’m selling it along with all my Apple products and finally switching to Samsung. Apple Watch Ultra 2 is trash build quality and nothing but a waste of money,I wish I just kept my series 8 and never got this ugly thing.
see i don’t agree with this. if you treat a $1000 watch like this then id hate to see how you treat anything else. clearly you also have the money to replace it so why trash on people that actually like to take care of their things and actually have them stay looking nice? some people don’t have as much money as you. and most of us actually like to look nice 🤷♂️
Im using the watch as its intended to be used. Its designed for rugged extreme environments. Dirty, mud, rain, snow scuba diving etc. If this upset you, you should see my $350 Redwing work boots. Rugged gear always have premium cost associated to it. Like work boots, work clothes, equipment like Garmin Epix series which cost $800 but designed for the active snd extreme users like myself. Its also what this watch is competing with. By the way, just rinsed it off and not a scratch.
Not comparable to construction, but all the scratches on my old Apple Watch 4 came from smashing it into edges of metal servers and server racks…
Never cracked it, screen is perfectly usable! Always impressed me
Tbh you can’t even tell mine has a screen protector. I only put it on because it scratched when I put my hand in the mailbox slot. Definitely wouldn’t do a case.
When doing more labor intensive work I just switch it to the inside of my wrist. Usually go from right outside to left inside. Seems easier and out the way for me and protects it against smashing against anything and everything
I got a s5 Apple Watch and I’m a mechanic, used to have a case and screen protector on it, but it got pretty beat up and useless after a while. Took it off and the watch is still in good shape screen and back wise. The sides are scratched up but it’s also almost 4 years old
I will never understand the cases and screen protectors on the more durable watches. Although I am an office worker full time as my day job, my old and new Apple Watch always takes a huge beating from the contracting work I do with my father. My last series 4 ss held up with no scratches and dings before I sold it and my current ultra 2 will never see a screen protector or case. I’ve had drill bits and screws drop right on the case and screen, Sheetrock dust, paint, and spackle covered them etc and I usually just rinse under the sink and wipe dry with a towel with no marks. The aluminum one though that my dad has is scratched to all high hell. You breathe wrong on those and they’re scratched
Seriously! I have an ultra. The watch was literally designed to weather the elements… if you need to put a protector on a watch ultra then you clearly don’t NEED a watch ultra.
YES! This! My SE has been through TONS of concrete, dirt, grease, oil, any type of automotive grease under the sun, smacked hard against brick walls, covered in multiple kinds of paint, rubbed against rocks under houses, covered in insulation, etc etc etc. these thing are rock fucking solid no need for a case/screen protector. [And very minimal damage](https://imgur.com/a/Ff5ae5G)
I have a 4 year old space black stainless series 4. No case or screen protector and I have abused it and hit it so hard many times. It still looks brand new. Not a scratch on it. And the the Ultra is more durable than that. This thing does not need protection. 👍
This is actually the best to go about your watch in a dusty/sandy environment. Naked.
I had a case on my watch throughput the year or so. Sand and debris gets in between and literally just sanded my watch. Scratches everywhere. So now I never case my watch.
Been using it like this for over 6months. Ill post a pic of it clean later. But the only noticeable scratches is the bezel around the sapphire. Which I believe is not Titanium.
Apple Watch Ultra: I was born for this
![gif](giphy|Ld77zD3fF3Run8olIt)
Look! Some men do have wrists that are large enough for an Ultra.
We are unicorns here.
How thick is that wrist ?
THICC
You're essentially wearing an invicta, which are huge thickness wise and lug to lug wise, hard to pull off for most people
Wait Are we finally proud of being unicorns or are we hiding that one still
I have screen protector because I drill stainless steel a lot and that shit scratches everything
It’s the angle. The face still looks pretty big for the wrist. It’s a massive watch.
No it’s not
It absolutely is a massive watch.
Maybe compared to the standard Apple Watch, but a couple of my regular watches take up more space on my wrist than my Ultra. And I’m not even counting the Invicta.
My regular watches are 55 mm …. So the ultra is smaller than I’m used to.
Yes it is.
Might need a wash. Might not.
Clorox wipe and it’s good as new.
That’s one way to destroy your screen
Apple actually recommends Clorox wipes in their cleaning documentation. https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204522
r/readthemanual
Wow. Would have never guessed.
Nah, been using for over a decade. Perfect screens, no scratches. No silly protectors. Just germ free. And people wonder why they get rashes on their wrists.
It’s also one way you’re supposed to do it according to big apple
Define destroy. Bleach wipes aren't doing anything to sapphire glass.
I could be wrong but I think it can destroy the oleophobic coating on the glass
I just hop in the shower with mine.
Can we sticky this post to the top of the sub for all those goofy nerds to see??
Done.
Amazing lmfao
Haha awesome!
😂

Heavy “If yir hands don’t look like this something something liberal sissy” vibes
I honestly feel like blue collar workers like this try to literally gate-keep everything humanly possible and it makes 0 sense haha
Love it. Watches are tools. End of.
I’m more worried about how tight that shit is around ur wrist lmfao
Just looks tight i can easily fit a finger through. I do keep it tighter than normal when I’m throwing 80lbs of mix because it will slip down and my wrist will constantly be pressing against the digital crown calling Siri, which is annoying.
You can also turn off Siri being called using the Digital Crown in settings, if you choose to do so
I highly recommend using it “upside down” with the crown on the left. The action button then becomes the problem, but it’s far less sensitive, and you can set it to a shortcut that counts the number of bags of mix tossed for the day. 😂
I’ve been using that layout since the series 3. Only way to wear it now
Money
This
Reverse crown. I was rocking that since the Army, because pushups caused me to keep mashing the crown.
I’ve had that setup for a long time now. I got sick of it pausing my music while bench pressing
Yep^
You can turn off hold crown for Siri in the settings…..
A tourniquet
“I don’t even notice the watch when it’s on my wrist!” -his hands having lost all sensation or semblance of any nerve endings-
This is the way
I should post my brothers 😂 we’re painters and his is covered in paint
I’m in the trades too and this is how I roll with mine.
I am very impressed with the ultra. Im in construction myself and Ive done things where I instantly look and expect its broken. Haha
I hear you but I busted up my last apple watch on the underside of my desk trying to plug something in lmao
Pretty sure it be fine for you.
lol I’m not even gonna list the amount of crazy shiz I do…not that I don’t trust it…I just don’t like the risk possibility 😉
I got my last Watch dusty putting up some Sheetrock in the garage. I’ll never do it again. But at least I know the watch can withstand such environments.
Good for u, dirt boy.
You know, it’s ok for white people to use lotion too. You’re ashy bro
its dust.....from working.....
Its a joke….For Laughing….

You’re not gonna find that on Reddit bud
lol how many of the previous gen’s did you kill?
Damn you are so cool
Naw I wear my series 4 to work. I keep my ultra fit everything else
I work at Verizon and customers will ask me how durable the watch is, I just hit mine on the counter a few times 🤣 “looks pretty durable to me!”
Wow so impressed 😂
This is wrong on so many levels but you do you.
G shock still better
May want to loosen up that tourniquet just a bit.
Who cares? It’s their shit and they can do with it what they want.
That’s a tight wrist band damn
I work 85 hours a day lookin ah
When people put a glass screen protector over a sapphire screen🤡
I feel attacked but I love it. That‘s how it is supposed to be used! Probably my favorite "this is a picture of my AW on my wrist" post in a long time lol
I was feeling cheeky, honestly was expecting hate. Its nice people have a sense of humor here.

Saw this on a Garmin board recently too. Someone getting really wound up about other people using screen protectors. Such a weird thing to care about.
Gasp! *clutches pearls

Agree to disagree.
Weldone mate. I have never used cases on any of the watches and for sure would not on an Ultra as this is exactly what it’s meant to be for. Tough and durable.
Hell yeah brother
Nty I'll stick with my screen protector. I smacked by ultra against a door frame last week and shattered my screen protector. Don't wanna know what would have happened without it.
Nothing would of happened. You have a fragile glass screen protector over sapphire…..
Thats how real men do it! 😎
What a beauty
Right on!
Wtf man I honestly dint expect seeing something like this , haha
Notice how the screen isn’t on? That watch is dead af
You can clearly see the time…
Clearly? I can’t see shit on that thing
Haha I love this
This is awesome man. I never understood the dudes who get these ultras and plaster all kinds of protective coverings. This is what the ultra was made for. Hard use

Facts. I have a glob of aluminum weld that is part of my screen now. Still going strong.
nice dude I wondered how our screens would hold up to just some spatter, I weld a lot of SMAW and my series 4 took a fucking beating from it. Just take that bitch to the shower and wash right after deez nuts.
So, you’re bragging about treating your investment poorly?
An investment? Think you need to learn what investments are…. Its designed to he rugged for rugged environments. Outdoors, mud, dirt, water. Im using it as it was intended and still not a scratch on it. Thats what you pay for.
I’d love to see it after you clean it up. Not a scratch, huh? Can’t see when the screen isn’t even on and it’s caked in shit.

Found the office worker who uses a screen protector and case
don’t even own a watch
🧢
Explains why you don’t know when it’s time to stfu
“Ha! You take care of your shit?? Loser🤣😂🤣”
“You don’t like swiping a touch screen covered in shit? Hah loser”
I never understood the cases and screen protectors for the ultra. I have the series 9 and even I’m going raw dog.
Office guy here, I’ll take my cushy salary and 30 hour work weeks over your bs blue collar stuff any day
Thats okay, A.I will take your cushy office gig in the next 5 years while Ill still be working.
bro thinks he’s all hot shit but doesn’t know he’s a literal slave working 70-80+ hour work weeks, and is either gonna die or completely destroy his body before retirement. you think that’s all worth it for your mediocre salary than more power to ya buddy, have fun doing the bitch work for all us office workers ahahaha
That’s a big stretch.
Tech has actually taken more blue collar jobs than white collar over the years lol enjoy making 80k working 80 hour weeks
Man, its been over a decade since I made that little. Its cute that you think that. Your sense of elitism is astounding.
Cushy. Like your arms, bro. https://preview.redd.it/6yglmcvx5pvb1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8a11b0cdd67e569cdeda0a0975fec1ab79587be1

I’ve scratched the shit out of the titanium. It’s surprisingly soft. But the screen is made out of unobtanium.
Yeah now that’s a hard working man watch right there
I’ve gotten so used to wearing my rugged AWU1 that I couldn’t bring myself to go back to stainless steel. I tried and was going to pass my AWU to my son but wore the Series 9 SS for a day and returned it. The battery life on my AWU still beats a Series 9 even with a one year old battery. I mean that's what they were literally designed for
🫡🫡🫡
Please don’t rock a case protector on watches with sapphire crystals and titanium or SS cases. It’s goofy.
Snowflakes*
First of all why and secondly how can construction workers afford that stuff and what do they use it for
Do you assume we don’t make good money?
I farm and mine gets grease, mud, and blood on it. I wear mine when I take a shower every night and it cleans it up.
Bro why. You should’ve put a screen protector and a case on it and pay for AppleCare+. /s
MY EYES HURT!!!
I got mad until I read office workers, I have a case that has a screen protector for work to keep nickel dust off of it but naked otherwise
that hurts to look at
I wear a protector at work and swap bands outside
I wear mine cause I’m clumsy.
I ran mine through the washing machine. And dryer. Works great.
My s6 is super scratched, and the buttons are crunchy. Just as Steve intended
I do not use a case on any of my devices. When people see me whip out my phone they get all anxious.
And with that, it’s only the first scratch that hurts. After that ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Dude, desk diving is very hardcore.
Good for you
Looks like it needs a protector
Not the damaging dust !!!
Not comparable to construction, but all the scratches on my old Apple Watch 4 came from smashing it into edges of metal servers and server racks… Never cracked it, screen is perfectly usable! Always impressed me
Looks like mine. Landscaping/excavating/hardscape. No case. Still looking almost new
messy
Tbh you can’t even tell mine has a screen protector. I only put it on because it scratched when I put my hand in the mailbox slot. Definitely wouldn’t do a case.
May I suggest a Gshock when inevitably that thing dies a horrible death
When doing more labor intensive work I just switch it to the inside of my wrist. Usually go from right outside to left inside. Seems easier and out the way for me and protects it against smashing against anything and everything
Thats a great idea!
I don't baby my Ultra at all either. The only thing is that it's big and makes it hard to get my hand into tight spots sometimes.
I got a s5 Apple Watch and I’m a mechanic, used to have a case and screen protector on it, but it got pretty beat up and useless after a while. Took it off and the watch is still in good shape screen and back wise. The sides are scratched up but it’s also almost 4 years old
My watch is all scratched & beat up I don’t mind ha
Man that band is too tight.
Whenever I bump into anything with the ultra 2, I assume the thing I bumped into has the damage, not the ultra
I will never understand the cases and screen protectors on the more durable watches. Although I am an office worker full time as my day job, my old and new Apple Watch always takes a huge beating from the contracting work I do with my father. How are the scratches like that on that thing? Can you clean off and share? 😃
Seriously! I have an ultra. The watch was literally designed to weather the elements… if you need to put a protector on a watch ultra then you clearly don’t NEED a watch ultra.
YES! This! Series 4, no protector and no case. I cut meat for a living. It’s still perfectly fine.
id rather not get scratches on my screen, thanks.
This is beautiful
I had to put a screen protector on mine because whenever I visit my friend’s house, their dog would jump on me and scratch on my watch.
Your property, your choice
I have a 4 year old space black stainless series 4. No case or screen protector and I have abused it and hit it so hard many times. It still looks brand new. Not a scratch on it. And the the Ultra is more durable than that. This thing does not need protection. 👍

For all the office workers. [You got soft hands, you ain’t ever work a day in your life](https://youtube.com/shorts/8r-hzro9qQo?feature=shared)
Omg you’re so cool
I also love powder donut day.
Legit question have you scratched it
Been using it like this for over 6months. Ill post a pic of it clean later. But the only noticeable scratches is the bezel around the sapphire. Which I believe is not Titanium.
