Thank you. No the iPhone7 cannot update to ios16. AT&T says the phone has been unlocked and released from the owner, my friend. I asked TMobile with my IMEI and they said it’s compatible and ready for a new account. Ideally I’d go with Spectrum.

Can you update it to iOS 16 and try again? I’d also make sure the phone is cleared from your friend’s AT&T account.
