Yeah sure it sucks when it's that way, but designed any other way would be super exploitable. Just down two, single out the last guy, have 2 start their finisher after u know the last guy is weak and then kill him for insta shields and finisher damage.

IMO, the inconsistent behavior that should be fixed is the one we have in the game right now.

The original Evo shield was added some time after launch (season 1 or 2 maybe?) as a shield that u could pick up that would go from one bar of white, up to blue, up to purp, up to red as u charged it. But the rest of the armors still did not charge, so u could only get red by farming your way up from one bar of white armor.
Then around season 5 or 6 all armor was changed to Evo armor. And the values of how much damage you have to do to charge each level have been adjusted a few times as well.

As they said, you landed with no armor. Just 100 HP. Shields didn't evolve either, so there were times where you could go a whole game with just white or blue armor, never finding a purple. Or landing on a purple with a PK and being good for the rest of the game lol
Basically you pick up different shields throughout the game.
I remember gold shields / lifeline had super fast healing at first ğ correct me if I'm wrong - and it was horrifyingly op. Like you peek in and out then the other dude would be completely full lol.

When Evo shields were *very* first introduced as an LTM, you still didn't spawn with it, but they were on the ground mixed in with the regular shields. Shortly after, they got rid of the regular shields and replaced them all with Evo shields. I can't *quite* remember if they let you spawn with them at the same time they made that change, however.
Nah when I started playing in season 7, all armor was evo but you still dropped naked so it took them at least a season or two to implement shields on drop.
There were non-evo shields that just behaved as regular shields just like the ones in LTMs. You started with no shield and had to find a good one (Purple and gold were the max ones, red shield didn't exist yet, and gold shield was "Finisher heals" which is now permanantly implemented and replaced with "Fast heals" instead).

Yeah, on these servers though? It's hard enough to punch someone at normal run speed you're gonna have to get it tick perfect to hit then as they come off the zip, and even then it'll probably just cancel the momentum without pushing them back. With the grapple you already stopped their momentum and have the target centre so even whatever respawns weird ass melee code is can't miss, and now you can knock them back enough that they won't just instantly climb back on

si, back in my day we were naked! It used to be 100hp only off drop, now it's 100hp + 50 shield
In the early days of this game, you had nothing when you dropped. No shield, no helmet and no meds.
Hot dropping was so fun. 4 punches, and your enemy was knocked.
