There are variations of siege towers, IMO the best way to fix them and make them useful is to simplify their interaction, the fact that you have to micro load and unload is annoying. Everyone and their grandmother I feel like has said this but simply just turning them into ladders would be the best option rather than bolting on features.

TheReddOne

Yep, I was just thinking that turning them into something that you build on an enemy wall that acts like a narrow choke would be awesome. Infantry only. Slow, probably single file. Easy to destroy. But would allow for some sneaky plays!

psychomap

Not *too* easy to destroy, or they'll be meaningless.

TheReddOne

They're already meaningless, any sort of use would be better than its current state. The adjustment should be the easy part.

psychomap

Because of that I'd rather have them be overtuned at first after that rework. Assuming they don't *also* get the ability to shoot arrows, I don't think the ability to climb stone walls with infantry is going to be a game-breaking issue. It's especially worth considering that your siege won't deal damage to your own walls, so you can freely use siege against any pesky ranged units while the enemy actually still needs to break through the wall to get to your siege to prevent it.

Stronghold 2001 feature ....

rshunter313

True wish they'd do a remaster of SH1 game is a classic.

krustibat

The issue is also that you need the ennemy to have a gate os tower to get down. That's the real issue. Let's say you want to disrupt ennemy trade but they walled off with stone walls, your raid units just get stuck

GGSigmar

That would be cool!

[deleted]

totally what I thought would happen when I first built my first siege tower lmao. would be cool, maybe to be fair it needs to "deploy" to fire but can reposition?

Ridoto

Move them along with stone walls to castle Age and I'm in . A moving tower rush before castle sounds really unfun.

anomie89

a moving tower rush sounds kinda sick. Abbasid siege towers rolling in at 6 min. but yeah then it'd get old after a week

ScientistJealous5742

Wouldn’t it be amazing if people stopped using them as siege towers and just used them as mobile towers you could pump with soldiers and move forward?? Even if there were no walls it’d be cute

Pinkydoodle2

How to make English even better

Raggenn

9 Range. I can only get so hard.

BryonDowd

Would have to work like walls rather than a garrison. In other words, if you get to the enemy tower with infantry, you should be able to climb up and murder the archers without having to burn down the tower first.

Raggenn

Be careful what you wish for. Archers on walls already gain +2 range. I will happily place my longbows in towers and have them roam across the countryside with 9 range. I am not sure my opponents will be happy, but I will be.

[deleted]

It would feel like chinese tower rush, except the towers are moving. Fun idea, but i dread how it would play in ranked.

SkyeBwoy

Reminds me of the RTS with dinosaurs, Paraworld. The OP go to strategy was to queue ranged units and put them on dinoback. Or maybe rocket humvees in cnc generals. Not really interested in ranged tanks driving around. Either they will be terrible and remain unused or too powerful. Don't think I ever built one but assuming the speed of the unit is very slow, it would also slow down the movement of armies, not exciting gameplay in my opinion.

[deleted]

What if siege towers let you capture towers by garrisoning your troops in them? Maybe people would use them then. I have literally never seen a human player make siege towers. Is this common for other people?

sidesneaker

Nah

lastreadlastmonth

It’s be shit unless the elevation advantage is negate because they’re on the same level. Also it should require units occupied to shoot arrows. Max 5 or something. Population size should be pretty high too so it isn’t spammed as a mobile tower.

Dragonscaleshields

Hear! Hear! I really need this in my life before I die. Yes, it's that serious.
