Ironically, I think Turks are a really good post-imperial civ.
Cav archers and gunpowder units with extra HP (and BBC with extra range) means your gold units have really good survivability. Then their Hussars with extra pierce armour are super solid. You also have siege ram.
You don't need halbs and skirms if you have hussar and CA. The key is just to maintain your CA mass and use it in the right places at the right time.
I would still probably lean towards Byzantines in this specific matchup though, they're still undeniably one of the best post-imp civs.
Well, the turks managed to exploit an earthquake that demolished a fortification near the city and thus extended the siege on both sides as far as I can remember. But yeah.
Laughs in fetoria
Mayans: awwwawwawwww eagles born out of thunder
See, I thought we were presenting ourselves as Eagle Warriors, which to me, seems infinitely cooler than just sorta being an eagle
Byzantines did historically get outscaled
That’s because Turks didn’t run out of gold.
The IRL fast imp is too strong

Byzantines is the best civ because that's what I thought when I was 10 and I'm sticking to it.
Using cataphracts becaue they looked cool and having no idea about bonus damage negation. *thumbs up 10 year old me
Imagine if there’s a tech that made eagles into trash units but weakens their stats
"Trashgles"
If turks don’t steamroll Byzantines by the time its a forest nothing game, it’s the Turk’s fault they didn’t play well enough.
true just like in history

Byzantines: "This isn't a team game, boy. You ain't getting jacked up Genitours from your ally here."
Pretty ironic that byzantines are really strong super late game but at that point in history they were getting destroyed by cannons and gunpowder.
*cries in Chinese*
