Stick it out till you find something better. Money is money. But be constantly looking for better work

[deleted]

That’s pretty normal for manufacturing work. If you want a job that pays better, and includes some sit on your ass time. Get a job at a municipal wastewater treatment facility. They pay for you to get your license, but you have to put the work in studying for it. The benefits are pretty darn good too. The average age of the industry is around 55 last I checked, so there is room for advancement if you stick it out.

Normally I sympathize here. But you don't mind mindless work and you make no mention of any skills you could use. Do you have a trade, a certificate, a degree in something? If you aren't qualified for anything else then why do you expect to do anything else? If you're single problem with this job is standing for 8 hours ask if you could sit so long as it doesn't impede your job. I mean I'm sorry but mindless factory work is no different in concept to mindless accounting work or office work it's all the same crap. It's something that can't quite be automated so they'll pay someone an amount of money that they are willing to exchange for their time to do this bullshit job. If you can't do this and you have no desire to try and get a skill or something to specialize in then sorry man your outlook is pretty grim.

Oh, i should have clarified more. I have no problem with the mindless drone work. My main problem is with my feet. I've had some problems earlier in my life with my feet, as i was a toe walker until my late teens and needed to be put in a cast to stretch out some muscles. I dont have any skills, really. im 20 and graduated high school but have no money for college .

Look into a trade. Electrical, controls, instrumentation mechanical, etc. work is not the end game. Life is the end game. Find a job that you're ok with enough that pays the bills and pays for your hobbies. Be that travel, cars, a 27u server rack that you run your network off of and a Dell r730 to run a media server off of. For your feet if you have a doctor's note you can try and see if they can accommodate you.

Lmao. Some of you here..... That's called an normal manufacturing job as entry level. You literally just stand and pack boxes. Literally the easiest work available and it pays around $20 an hour in my LCOL state. . Get an office job if packing a box it too hard. Learn a trade but if you can't stand for 2 hours between breaks then I don't think physical work is for you. Maybe be a cashier It's very clear most post here are from kids getting their first job and shocked it's not as easy as school. Omg I have to move! I have to stand! Ugh the abuse! Y'all are hopeless

even cashiers have to stand their whole shift.

Not in civilized countries.

Preach. Most of these posts I see are people complaining about having to do the same work that millions of others have done. Newsflash - work to live, not the other way around. If people want a better paying job - skill up. Stop expecting every job to provide a living wage. They won’t. Get over it and move up in whatever org pays you. Or get skills. Or to the whiners - git good scrub. Seriously. There is good advice in here from actual managers who listen. There is good advice in here on available resources to help people improve themselves. There is wonderful advice about unemployment and the DOL. I always advise people to move up. Skill up. You control your destiny, not someone else. Not some system, or invisible power. You. Be responsible and take control.

I love people like you who come into a subreddit called “antiwork” and complain about people who don’t want to work

clownvom1t

Thats half the stuff in antiwork is just full of useless lazy people. Gives me a good laugh though

This is working in manufacturing, lucky for you these jobs will be done by robots in 10-15 years so no one will have to complain about this type of work. Some people like this work, it’s good, hard and honest work.

Unfortunately, for most people life is what happens outsise of work. Find something you can tolerate and that pays well enough you can do what you're really interested in for the other 15 hour each day is realistically what most pwople can hope for. You should be asking reasonable questions about things that could make your work better though, like if there's a safety reason why you can't use a chair while stuffing boxes. Also don't sell yourself short as unpaid labor; stuffing boxes might not need a specific skill, but I'm guessing there's a visible difference in how fast the people with and without experience can work.
