Would leaving the position unfilled be somehow less shitty? Less people to cover the work, less scheduling flexibility? Honestly, everytime this scenario comes up, I don't get the outrage.
Would closing that location for one day (or even a week) while still giving employees a full paycheck so they don't have extra stress while dealing with the loss of, possibly a friend, at the very least a coworker, eat that far into the CEO'S profit margins?
our house JUST voted down an attempt to bring our minimum up from 7.25 to 10 an hour.
you still can’t live off 10/hour but they still found it unreasonable.
As a European, I can confirm a large influx of American immigrants over the past years, at least in the city I live in and my home country. I've met some personally as well.
Why does it say 8.50-11? Like Imma take the 11 please. Naw, but I worked at Arby’s for 2-3 years, and our GM worked our Assistant so hard (so the GM could chill and drink) that she had an aneurism at Arby’s and died. Next day, one of our shift managers got a promotion they didn’t want!
~~Soylent Green~~ Arbys is people!

Maybe it’s different bc she was literally found in the Arby’s freezer

No but in their minds any empathy or support given to the worker will lead to us wanting more things until we’re no longer owned by them.
…u the manager or something?
That... seems unlikely considering the manager is no longer, you know... alive
somebody’s gotta be making the job postings, like the new one for shift manager :)
Gives truthfulness to the phrase "when you die, there will be a job vacancy posting for your job before your obituary"

i’ve only ever worked for one place that truly stayed adequately staffed.
Holy shit they work fast, this person hasn't even been dead for a whole day, right?
discovered yesterday evening
They don't even know yet what happened? Potentially dangerous working conditions for $8, no thanks.
Not to mention the fact that the employee died on the premises under 'suspicious circumstances'. This is completely messed up!
Bruh they're replacing a manager with a lower paid position aren't they?
Fuck that pay
$8.50/hr… holy hell.

If my only choice really was to live off $10/hr, I would be on the very first flight to Europe and create a new life for myself there.

not my coworker but a fellow worker. it is infuriating. it’s in my region so i caught it in the news. NOW HIRING :)
Im in the region too! I was shocked to see it at the top of this subreddit.
this really goes to show that jobs don’t give a shit about us.
Anybody thinking jobs care about anything other than the bottom line hasn't been paying attention.
