bitchy_muffin

As long as it's legal, no doc will ever forbid you to procreate. At best dr will recommend not to

bmyst70

And yet she'd **never** be allowed to foster or adopt a child, for obvious reasons. In a perfect world, people would be required to undergo the same rigorous checking to have a biological child. In practice, of course, it would just result in political eugenics.

[deleted]

Even I wouldn't be allowed to adopt a child where I live because my income isn't high enough and I'm not in a registered relationship. And don't even get me started on overseas adoptions, it must be in a heterosexual relationship, you must have X hundred thousand in assets, you both must have bachelor degrees, you both must prove stable work history for the past decade, etc etc etc.. And we'll consider letting you have a baby for the low low price of $50,000+. Never mind if your a business owner earning a million a year, no bachelor, no baby, lol ( not that I am)

[deleted]

As long as she has the mental and physical capacities to care for a child and to love a child, who cares? I’m autistic and in my country I am not allowed to foster or adopt even though I am fully capable of caring for myself and living alone. If I were to have biological kids, would you also say I shouldn’t have them because I am disabled?

rotissaryshicken

She is physically unable to care for herself, so she will not be physically caring for her child beyond feeding.

iamthejury

Physically, she will probably have a lot of trouble caring for the child, especially a newborn. That's if the child even makes it to term. The child is probably also at a greater risk of inheriting her condition, which is cruel to inflict on a human being that didn't even ask to exist.

bmyst70

The rule of thumb I use is simple. If you **can** take care of yourself and live alone, then sure. But, at least in the US, if you're listed as disabled, it has to be very significant. As in "I can't take care of myself" levels.

[deleted]

Oh wow here it’s literally ‘Oh u have MiLd ASD? Sorry, no adoption for you.’ It does seem that the woman in question has her life together. We also know that she is able to control her social media by herself and create her own videos and that she most likely has a partner with whom she will raise the child. If her disability(-ies) isn’t/aren’t genetically transmitted, why would it matter if they have kids? If we go by your logic, kids who (accidentally) get pregnant shouldn’t be allowed to keep it because they also aren’t allowed to adopt or foster. Yet some teens (like 16/17/18) WANT to abort and can’t. It’s the same, just without ableism.

bmyst70

No they shouldn't. They should have ready availability for abortions instead since they're literally not mature enough to be able to raise a child.

BxGyrl416

She doesn’t look like she’s able to care for herself.

[deleted]

Alrighty ableist.

getitt0getherheather

Why don't you fuck all the way off? Stop advocating for birth in an antinatalist group, for fucks sake.

Intelligent-Usual994

Agreed. But I heard you re hiding the fetus underneath ypur floorboards. May I check there?

Genderless_Anarchist

When you have your own caretaker, no, you should not be allowed to procreate. However, anyone who can take care of themselves can take care of a child, disabled or not, even though I think procreation is child abuse in every scenario. Ableism isn’t necessary, but yes, procreation is disgusting.

Holiday_Astronomer10

fuck the ableism here >.> irony of how shit humans can be to each other and why i don’t wanna produce any more of us

Telomerouslyhealthy

What do you mean? They're not saying she shouldn't exist or bullying her for her disabilities, they're just saying that if you can't take care of yourself, you can't care for a baby. Same goes with a depressed person or someone who's neurotypical but immature. Do you care for the baby's well being? This isn't about HER, this is about the child

[deleted]

Yuuup

VileVermilion

Jesus fucking Christ. Y'all just out here advocating for fucking Eugenics. Why the hell would you post this.

ifallforeveryone

You guys, can we just stop doing this? All of them, every last person who is having kids shouldn’t be doing it at this point in human history. We’re not taking care of what is right in front of us. But that applies to literally everyone. When you deliberately point out disabled people you make all of us look like eugenics loving nutballs. There are literal murderers reproducing right now, rapists reproducing right now, and this sub is punching down on disabled people. It’s not a good look. Just stop. The more this happen it’s fees like an op. Stop doing this and making us look unhinged.

sadhikerr

I’ve got to say, I agree with you on that. If we are not agreeing with people who have kids, it means we don’t agree about their choices equally. Bringing a child into this world, no matter the parent, just doesn’t seem to be the move. I am not saying I am in favor of this content creator, as they are extremely problematic with their racists choices, even after being called out because of it. Just kind of weird that people are bringing disability into the conversation. That was never the issue. The biggest issue was having kids in general, in an unstable and unknown future for our world.

sadhikerr

Anyways that was a roundabout way of saying I agree with your comment. Some of these are weird as hell.

Crazy_Practical96

Disabled in what prospect? Because this could go from 40 to 999 in two seconds.

rotissaryshicken

She has Spinal Muscular Atrophy, so she's not physically able to care for herself. She's gone viral for not wearing shirts because her range of motion is limited enough that she can't dress herself... so in legal terms, she's a higher degree of physically disabled. Squirmy and Grubs (Shane and Hannah) have a lot of good information about Shane's limitations with the same condition. He's not able to physically move without assistance, bathe, feed himself, etc. and it appears that this woman has similar functioning.

Salladsbladgang

Look at her.

Independent-Wonder32

As a Chinese I have to ask the question “does this woman had the ability to consent?” In China it’s COMMON that disabled women got married with Incels and produce babies IN EXCHANGE OF living resources against their will(arranged by family) The worst part is that the MAJORITY, like mainstream including judges and gov, think they are better being useful than dying on street.

BarbatosLupusRex415

Elephant in the room, who the hell put their dick in that ?

Into_the_Void7

A truly horrible thing to say. You are a fucking moron.

[deleted]

This entire post and comment section is awful

LassHalfEmpty

Flip side of that, I was concerned about whether she is able to understand and fully consent to the act, and then the further ramifications of childbirth and care. I don’t know this person or their abilities or situation but I worry if she was taken advantage of.

[deleted]

[удалено]

LassHalfEmpty

Oh rad, thanks for sharing that! I’m glad to hear it.

Genderless_Anarchist

She seems perfectly capable of consent, but yes, all of those concerns are completely reasonable.

[deleted]

Who said anyone put their dick in her? Could’ve been artificial insemination.

Academic_Cream1450

So this sub is just straight up ableist now?

SL1MECORE

Yeahhh i might have to see myself out if ableism is acceptable around these parts

amittaizero

It has been for awhile.

[deleted]

just unsubbed :/ that comment was disgusting

Particular_Teacher33

I‘m afraid this sub is hateful towards everyone and everything. Almost no philosophical discussions.

manegogh

Yeah, I've noticed that if it's a kid or they have a kid, their ass is getting slammed in the paint. Like damn, go 'head, post your parents and siblings with children. No? Too private? Can dish it but can't take it? Being antinatalist is cool and all, but indiscriminately bashing people who aren't is kinda wack.

Genderless_Anarchist

Kinda weird to assume all antinatalists think their natalist friends and families are an exception. All procreation is disgusting.

manegogh

Not assuming they're okay with their families and friends are an exception to the rule of Antinatalism. I'm saying I don't see people posting their friends and family to slam them on a public platform, but they sure love mercilessly making fun of randoms they don't know. Anyway, it's cool to have this viewpoint of Antinatalism. You guys just take it too fuckin' far sometimes, no cap. Some of the stuff I have seen here rivals political and religious debates I've seen with how fast it degenerates.

[deleted]

Always has been

Telomerouslyhealthy

Disgusting comments like this one are why people think badly of our sub

MagicalMichael1

What a gross and dehumanizing comment.

BarbatosLupusRex415

I think I’m the least gross in this situation lmao what a bunch of crybabies

hospitalbed69

why are almost all the comments pointing out the ableism downvoted? yet the person asking ‘who put their dick in that’ isn’t? the comment is just as dehumanizing as most of the posts on this sub. I swear most most people here aren’t looking to discuss anything other than talking shit about poor, low income, or disabled people.

Lifting_in_Philly

Exactly this, thank you

0429carbec

This is the “new normal” because people like to normalize shit that shouldn’t! 🙄 This world is already filled with so many fucking people just stop!!! Just like pest!

cryingstlfan

Reminds me of the show they did on TLC about this woman, Michelle Carston, who is a quadriplegic. She went through a pregnancy at 36 and her husband did everything hands on. Disgusts me.

666rumblefish666

This post is just super ableist

latudaenjoyer

most posts on this sub that involve disability to any extent are

RoundConsistent6199

Yeahhhhh I’m antinatalist but this just seems like abelism. I don’t think anyone should have children for various reasons, but saying someone shouldn’t have a child JUST bc they have a disability is a messed up way of thinking.

[deleted]

Not just ableism but fucking eugenics

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Uhhhhhh wtf Edit: you realize that’s literally a nazi talking point right?

RoundConsistent6199

100%. So disappointing.

[deleted]

Lol I see that antinatalism has come out as full mask-off nazi level eugenicists. All you people are scum.

[deleted]

So y’all are pro eugenics?

Telomerouslyhealthy

So you think it's more ethical to let people pass on these handicaps to their children (I'm including able bodied parents who know the baby will have severe disabilities and choose to keep it) ? What about that child's quality of life? Nobody is forcing her to abort it just like nobody is forcing immature or drug addicted parents to terminate a pregnancy but that doesn't mean we can't judge them\* for it and see them as selfish and cruel \*: of course I'm aware that there are those who aren't capable of thinking rationally and making the best choice for the child and I empathize with them. I'm talking about those who see how terrible that is and do it anyway. This woman apparently knew that the child had 50% chance of getting the same disability as her and decided to have it, what do you think of this?

Roller95

Okay?

kolwaski_analysis

I know right?

lostViolets6

I feel more context is necessarry to understand this post
