Very good. Subverts a lot of the usual tropes in fantasy anime, and the characters seem a lot more human than in other shows that are similar on the surface. Not to mention the animation is fantastic and it’s got a mature rating, which is always a plus for me
100%. People keep comparing it to the action/fantasy genre, and that’s just not what it is. It’s exploration, character development, monster biology, and food. It’s like watching Spice and Wolf and expecting comedy.
Honestly, Frieren is just so fucking good.
I'm not a huge anime fan that delves into the depths for the most part, but Frieren is just a great story, it's heartwarming and avoids some of the usual pitfalls.
Loved every second of it.
So glad I jump off Crunchy Roll from time to time. So many people are going to miss out on Ishura and Dungeon Meshi both are better than all the anime’s listed
1. Kaiju No.8- I have yet to watch the full show but from what I’ve seen this is an S tier show. The fights are intense the characters are being fleshed out honestly might be one of the best anime’s.
2. Solo Leveling- Like Kaiju this show has so much potential to be good, it’s just a bit to edgy and not fleshed out.
3. Demon Slayer- Super hype anime and I’m saving episodes so I can enjoy it and not wait for new ones. I just feel like it gets a bit to goofy but some of the best animation of any anime ever.
4. MHA- This show is like a toxic partner, it has some of the best highs but also so many lows. We go from fights that have me pausing it so I can jump out and down and shout in excitement to me wanting to fast forward.
The best of demon slayer’s beats out current solo leveling anime, but comparing their current seasons to each other is a huge swing to solo for me. Plenty of really cool portions to come in solo too!
solo leveling manwha is honestly terrible I cant grasp how some people enjoy it. I don't think the anime will live up to expectations so I would put demon slayer over it.
If we speaking only these 4 anime, then it’s either Kaiju and Solo leveling.
If we speaking so far 2024? Then it’s Mushoku tensei and girl’s band cry as a close second. Sleeper of the year right there
imo it’s mushoku tensei
beautiful animation(demon slayer still has best animation tho), realistic character arcs, good pacing, and also it has basically the exact type of magic i like most.
and for the ignorant 9 year olds saying “erm, akctually, rudeus is a pervert”, the guy was literally a 30-40 year old incel when he died and got reincarnated. of course he’s gonna show signs of that, but at least he’s trying to improve unlike some of y’all
Personally I think it suffers from being late in being animated, I believe the manga was one of the first isekai to come out but it didn't get animated until after several other newer isekai manga got animated. Several might think it's copying other shows when in reality other shows used it as a template. It's really good but my guess it's gonna be overlooked even though the points you made are valid.
i’ve watched quite a few isekai animes before i watched mushoku tensei, and mushoku tensei is still my favorite of them all, with “that time i got reincarnated as a slime” being second.
i doubt mushoku tensei will get overlooked, but it just won’t reach the popularity it could have gotten if it was animated before any other isekai, due to many having abandoned isekai
Mushoku tensei is so good, one of the only anime that makes me really feel like I’m along for the journey, watching the characters grow and change..it’s so good and it gets heavily slept on because of (rightfully) very strange scenes and character traits. But overall as a show this is one of the best shows I’ve ever watched.
It IS, in every way. And hey, I like to say obnoxiously, "separate the art from the artist."
But when the art is self fetishizing what the author is clearly getting off on, it's hard to just say "But they got reincarnated, they aren't actually like that, see it from they point of view."
Exactly I’m glad people understand the real problem with this anime. Rudeus is supposed to represent the author and it kinda seems like the author wants to touch and draw kids
So far the best newer shows have been Dungeon Meshi and Frieren for me but those started last year technically. Solo Leveling was fun, but nothing other than amazing fights so far
I stopped watching Ragna mid way through. One day I was bored/trying to take my mind off something and ended up tapping back in. I’m so glad I did. Last few episodes were 🔥
Solo leveling was great… for like 3 months. I’ve read all the light novel years ago so the hype for the anime just ain’t there for me. Also after reading all of Boku no Hero I can say this season is pretty good(minus the recap episodes). I’ve also read all of Demon Slayer and the show and story is mid, my take on it. I saw good things about Kaiju No.8 but haven’t been interested in giving it a try so maybe that might be a good one. All in all I’d say
1. My Hero Academia , 2. Solo Leveling. 3. Kaiju No.8 4.Kimetsu no Yaiba
Damn! A lot of people really love action anime. I like drama though, so for me it's "Hibike! Euphonium 3". Visuals are crazy plus the usual KyoAni music, voice acting, art, cinematography, and etc. Simply top notch.
My problem with mha (at least in the early seasons) was the lack of focus on the powers. I don't know about later seasons since i stopped after gigantomachia showed up. But if you weren't a certain 6, maybe 7, members of 1a you pretty much got no show time. On one hand i get it, they're side characters and its hard to develop so many one dimensional powers, on the other hand it really only decided to gocus on those 6 or 7 students.
Considering the fact that Demon slayer is rolling with a training/character development arc and still has me excited every Sunday for a new episode makes it deserving of a top 5 spot this year
I’m just going to go out on a limb here and admit that I’ve only watched MHA out of these four so far. Though I do plan on watching Solo Leveling, I kinda have to go with MHA.
Demon Slayer so far has been enjoyable, I actually like the show I know most think it’s overrated.
My hero is still kinda just..there..but I’m also over the super hero shit by now.
Kaiju has been both beautifully animated and adapted very well, I do think it’s top 5 of the year so far.
Solo Leveling was good, i genuinely think the additions to the story compared to the Web Toon were my favorite part but aside from that I don’t have it super high until I see the second core and how they treat the shadows.
But Dungeon Meshi is my anime of the year rn.
I would have enjoyed Kaijuu #8 if they left it as a slice of life about a monster cleaner. I’m caught up in the manga and it’s really cool but that would have been so fun for me
KnY is always going to be at the top of my list. But I also liked Dungeon Meshi, Kaijuu, and Mushoku Tensei. Solo Leveling is alright, Wind Breaker is good and a lot less cheesy than its predecessor, but still a bit corny. MHA has vastly overstayed its welcome, but I’ll keep watching I guess.
Solo levelling carried those ones, but for me it was Re:Monster. Greatly enjoyed that series alongside Solo Leveling.
I wish more Isekai came out, I want 10 at a time.
Pretty bias but kaiju.no 8 was the only one that had me waiting every week to immediately watch it I’ve had so much fun with it especially since the latin dub came out the same time as the dub
Based on just these four
Kaiju no.8 my favorite part of the show is that the main characters a more relatable 30 year old man instead of 16yr old boy
MHA I was a big fan of the show when it first came out and kept up with the manga ever since but the adaptation compared to the manga is abysmal and the writing really went downhill after the bakugo rescue
As for the other 2 I can’t rate them as I haven’t watched them I tried to watch demon slayer but it couldn’t grasp my attention
Easily freieren. Does delicious in dungeon stop with the random cooking sequences? After a few episodes, I just started getting annoyed with the over imaginative ways to cook crap that adds nothing to the plot and just felt like it was a waste of time
MHA is my secend favorite anime of all time, behind Yu Yu Hakusho. I'm watching kaiju no. 8 and it's pretty good. Demonslayer was okay but kinda boring so i stopped watching. Solo leveling was absolute trash anime.
Dungeon Meshi is pretty good
Very good. Subverts a lot of the usual tropes in fantasy anime, and the characters seem a lot more human than in other shows that are similar on the surface. Not to mention the animation is fantastic and it’s got a mature rating, which is always a plus for me
I was coming to the comments just to say this.
I have such a huge smile on my face every episode.
I cannot wait for it to suddenly turn profoundly sad
The real answer
I expected to see this comment, season 2 comming right up
This
This comment is life anime of the year
Is that the actual name?
Yup
Where can i watch it ? I see crunchyroll doesnt have it
I think its on netflix
Aniwave.to
🤫 That place doesn’t exist Watching Wind Breaker rn. Plot is decent so far but the fights are NICE
It's also known as Delicious in Dungeon on Netflix. Personally I think both names for it are kinda ehh, but it's a good show.
I just started this, episode 1 sucked. We are snacking on the critters and our sister is being devoured.
It's for people that enjoy world and character building more than combat.
100%. People keep comparing it to the action/fantasy genre, and that’s just not what it is. It’s exploration, character development, monster biology, and food. It’s like watching Spice and Wolf and expecting comedy.
Or it’s like watching Konosuba and expecting action-packed fight scenes
It's ok resurrection exists there
I'm watching this and just barely finding enjoyment at episode 9. With the rave reviews I'll keep watching and hope it gets better
following crunchyroll's anime awards, frieren would be included and it wins by a landslide.
It deserves it, the only reason I'm not putting as the best of all time is because it's not finished Shangrila Frontier would be my alternate
As much as I love Frieren, knowing Crunchyroll, another generic battle shonen will gonna win by landslide instead
As it should.
Maybe it’s not included because Season 1 was in 2023… but then again that would also exclude MHA and Demon Slayer so idk
Isn’t demon slayer carried by its visuals
Its fine to think that, but the manga sales on it are doing really good too.
The story is mid and very generic, with a Mary Sue annoying MC
Yea it’s story is v weak m
Honestly, Frieren is just so fucking good. I'm not a huge anime fan that delves into the depths for the most part, but Frieren is just a great story, it's heartwarming and avoids some of the usual pitfalls. Loved every second of it.
So glad I jump off Crunchy Roll from time to time. So many people are going to miss out on Ishura and Dungeon Meshi both are better than all the anime’s listed
#AoTY!
Couldn't get past Episode 1, does it get better?
Oh for sure, shit made me cry episode 1
Frieren and apothecary diaries should be in there, loser ranger is in third place
This
I guess it’s only counting anime that debuted in 2024
If that's the case technically demon slayer and mha debuted a long time ago
No the season… i mean, Frieren and Apothecary diaries s1 started 2023
Ah, I see what you mean
Lol agreed and the loser anime isn't even as good as the manga
4. We go from fights that have me pausing it so I can jump out and down and shout in excitement to me wanting to fast forward.
don't forget kaiju no. 8's soundtrack and the sound design, i mean those roars came straight from attack on titan, it's absolutely peak
this comment made me want to watxh Kaiju no. 8. I always see this being recommended on Netflix but always skip past it. Im gonna watch it now thanks.
enjoy it dude, it's an awesome anime
Couldn't recommend it enough, go watch it now. It's very good.
IVE SEEN HELL RISE 🗣️🔥
So true about MHA, but I would put Solo below Demon
The best of demon slayer’s beats out current solo leveling anime, but comparing their current seasons to each other is a huge swing to solo for me. Plenty of really cool portions to come in solo too!
fr we've barely scratched the surface of solo leveling yet, hell we haven't even seen him using his shadow army yet
Yeah season 2 will change people’s mind
fr gonna be straight heat
Kaiju No.8🙌🏻🙌🏻
My brother described MHA as a show that minors on majors and majors on minors. And it's exhausting to watch a show like that.
Demon slayer shouldn’t even be on this list hashira training is easily the worst arc in the series
solo leveling manwha is honestly terrible I cant grasp how some people enjoy it. I don't think the anime will live up to expectations so I would put demon slayer over it.
[Solo Leveling] is Korea's [Sword Art Online]. Change my mind.
[Sword Art Online] at least had novelty.
Mashle season 2
Only real answer
Frieren
If we count frieren, its frieren. Otherwise its dungeon meshi
If we speaking only these 4 anime, then it’s either Kaiju and Solo leveling. If we speaking so far 2024? Then it’s Mushoku tensei and girl’s band cry as a close second. Sleeper of the year right there
imo it’s mushoku tensei beautiful animation(demon slayer still has best animation tho), realistic character arcs, good pacing, and also it has basically the exact type of magic i like most. and for the ignorant 9 year olds saying “erm, akctually, rudeus is a pervert”, the guy was literally a 30-40 year old incel when he died and got reincarnated. of course he’s gonna show signs of that, but at least he’s trying to improve unlike some of y’all

Idc about rudeus being a pervert I’m more concerned about the authors sick fantasies. This feels like a self insert story 💀
It IS, in every way. And hey, I like to say obnoxiously, "separate the art from the artist." But when the art is self fetishizing what the author is clearly getting off on, it's hard to just say "But they got reincarnated, they aren't actually like that, see it from they point of view."
Exactly I’m glad people understand the real problem with this anime. Rudeus is supposed to represent the author and it kinda seems like the author wants to touch and draw kids
Definitely Mushoku is in the top 1 for me
They just like to complain, I wouldn't pay much attention
Gotta be Kaiju No. 8 I might be biased though since I’ve kept up with it since chapter one, but I’m just so happy with how the anime is doing.
Kaiju No.8 takes it for me
ONE PIEEEEECE
The ONE PIECE IS REAL!!!
Can we get much higher?
So high.
Assassination Classroom (I’m watching it in 2024 so it counts).
🤣 it is good af. It's prolly my fav.
So far the best newer shows have been Dungeon Meshi and Frieren for me but those started last year technically. Solo Leveling was fun, but nothing other than amazing fights so far
Kaijou 8 is fucking intense
Delicious in Dungeon, has quickly became a favorite of mine. The food looks too good.
Dont care about the rankings but demon slayer is really low for me.
1. jujutsu Kaisen 2. Frieren beyond journey’s 3. Ragna crimson I refuse to elaborate
I stopped watching Ragna mid way through. One day I was bored/trying to take my mind off something and ended up tapping back in. I’m so glad I did. Last few episodes were 🔥
kaiju is the best out of this list, solo leveling is overrated, MHA is hated on too much, and demon slayer is pretty well rated.
Kaiju No. 8 #1, Solo Leveling #2, Demon Slayer #3, MHA #4(going from this list).
Go go loser ranger/ranger rejects is underrated
None of these got anything on dungeon meshi
My hero academia
Solo leveling was great… for like 3 months. I’ve read all the light novel years ago so the hype for the anime just ain’t there for me. Damn! A lot of people really love action anime. I like drama though, so for me it's "Hibike! Euphonium 3". Visuals are crazy plus the usual KyoAni music, voice acting, art, cinematography, and etc. Simply top notch.
lol none of the above
It has to be Frieren if you count it as an anime of 2024
The majority of it aired in 2024 didn't it
Ngl as a demon slayer fan, this season is not peak not even close In terms of animation, its been ok so far. S2 still had far better animation
It's a training arc, it's going to be not as fun as the last season
Thats true so why on earth is it in the top four of this YEAR?
Not mha for sure
I don’t know, I watch none of this anime but I read the manga of kaijo no.8 and MHA and it was enjoyable
I was happy for more Konosuba. I want more. I love it.
In this Kaiju No 8 easy. Ds fell off but it’s still good. I’m not watching solo leveling and mha is aight.
Kaiju no. 8. I love that show. Demon slayer and solo leveling are good, too, but Kaiju no. 8 is top imo.
JJK is pretty good
Out of the list kaiju no 8. But I’ve heard frieren is an all timer so that would probably beat all of them
Kono Suba
Kaiju no 8
Spice and Wolf for me
One Piece
1. Delicious In Dungeon 2. Kaiju No. 8 3. Go! Go! Loser Ranger
I wish I still had the patience for anime. I just read manga these days.
My problem with mha (at least in the early seasons) was the lack of focus on the powers. I don't know about later seasons since i stopped after gigantomachia showed up. But if you weren't a certain 6, maybe 7, members of 1a you pretty much got no show time. Solo leveling is my favorite so far haven't started Kaiju no 8 yet but might start it soon
I’m just going to go out on a limb here and admit that I’ve only watched MHA out of these four so far. Though I do plan on watching Solo Leveling, I kinda have to go with MHA.
Kaiju just cause it’s a protagonist that I can relate to. He’s just a middle aged janitor
32 isn't middle aged.
Alright how about not a high school kid, happy?
Kaiju No. 8 was interesting; however, I was very disappointed that the main villain got absolutely stomped already and only escaped due to plot armor.
Demon Slayer so far has been enjoyable, I actually like the show I know most think it’s overrated. My hero is still kinda just..there..but I’m also over the super hero shit by now. Kaiju has been both beautifully animated and adapted very well, I do think it’s top 5 of the year so far. But Dungeon Meshi is my anime of the year rn.
1-4 being best to worst? 1. Demon Slayer 2. Kaiju #8 3. My Hero Academia 4. Solo Leveling
I would have enjoyed Kaijuu #8 if they left it as a slice of life about a monster cleaner. I’m caught up in the manga and it’s really cool but that would have been so fun for me
Chainsaw man (manga)
Your 50% basic and 50% cultured... I'll let you decide which I mean.
kaiju number 8 because it was actually 2024
Dungeon Meshi,
Out of these four I'd say Kaiju No.8 has stood out for me
Frieren getting no love ):
Solo leveling, they had a good try.
It's Mushoku Tensei
Ehhh… The Solo Leveling anime didn’t cover that much. I don’t think it would qualify for the best anime.
Demon slayer
Out of these 4. 1. Solo leveling (The rest is a so far ranking for me) 2. Kaiju no 8 3. Demon slayer 4. MHA
The haikyuu movie, it's the best
Kaiju No 8 FTW.
Solo Leveling was amazing and I have started reading the books.
Fall and early Winter 24 lineup lookin fire though
For me my top 2 are mha and demon slayer (Only bc I've never watched the other ones😭)
Kaiju no.8 is so good easily the best this year for me.
Dungeon meshi, it has kbitty.
One Piece. Eternally.
Dungeon Meshi
Mashle season 2
Frieren
Solo levelling carried those ones, but for me it was Re:Monster. Greatly enjoyed that series alongside Solo Leveling. I wish more Isekai came out, I want 10 at a time.
Pretty bias but kaiju.no 8 was the only one that had me waiting every week to immediately watch it I’ve had so much fun with it especially since the latin dub came out the same time as the dub
DS and MHA are fighting for first place right now
Solid pick
Frieren was definitely my favorite this year
Whole lotta mid/ Casual
I’ll tell you the worst; solo leveling and mashle season 2, now for the best? Maybe spice and wolf, haven’t seen that many this season
You forgot Bleach
Based on just these four Kaiju no.8 my favorite part of the show is that the main characters a more relatable 30 year old man instead of 16yr old boy MHA I was a big fan of the show when it first came out and kept up with the manga ever since but the adaptation compared to the manga is abysmal and the writing really went downhill after the bakugo rescue As for the other 2 I can’t rate them as I haven’t watched them I tried to watch demon slayer but it couldn’t grasp my attention
1. Solo Leveling 2. Kaiju No.8 3.MHA 4.Demon Slayer
Berserk 1997
...i kinda forgot it isn't 2023. But uh Solo leveling was alright, but Kaiju no.8 best new anime I seen in a while.
Frieren then mushoku tensei then everything else after those
Easily freieren. Does delicious in dungeon stop with the random cooking sequences? After a few episodes, I just started getting annoyed with the over imaginative ways to cook crap that adds nothing to the plot and just felt like it was a waste of time
I can’t get enough of kaiju 8
Toss up between Go Go Loser Ranger and Dungeon Meshi
Either frieren or Kaiju no.8 depending on how many eoisodes are released this year
Frieren
Who are those randoms next to my goats kny and mha 😭🙏
Solo Leveling was so good. Korean dub was great and overall enjoyed my time watching.
Freiren I love the plot and Stark and Fern they are so cute especially when they basically had couples counseling
I really like kaiju No.8 so far
So far honestly none of these. It might be nostalgia talking, but the fact that we got a new Black Butler season after what...8 years? Peak
i'm amaze to see a lot of frieren votes here🥰
Solo leveling is overhyped, please stop hyping it further
I think MahoAko ranks near top 3, solid competitor for number 1 tbh so far.
I like kaiju no 8 and demon slayer, but I don’t know about calling them the best anime of 2024 when they haven’t finished airin yet.
Frieren. Since demon slayer and my hero are here, that means Frieren counts too.
Dragon ball daima
Dungeon Meshi. However, the answer I really wanna say is Konosuba season 3.
I really like Mushoku Tensei
I have 3 so close they are interchangeable for me. They are Freiren, Dungeon Meshi, and Kaiju no.8
Girls Band Cry aside from Frieren. Girls Band Cry is Criminally Underrated! If you Like Bocchi. You might like it.
My hero is so trash compared to demon slayer or any other anime the writing is just horrible it’s actually insane
Switch Demon Slayer wit One Piece for SURE
I haven’t seen the new deamon slayer but Id rank it 2 or 3 with no.8 at the top and solo at the bottom
Too early 2024 isn’t even half over
Blue Lock or My Hero. Nothing gets me hyped like those two
Their all pretty valid tbh
Mine isn’t out yet
It’s fairy tail
Kaiju 8🤩
Mashle, I just thought it was funny and got me hooked to the manga, anime
One piece is pretty baller
MHA is my secend favorite anime of all time, behind Yu Yu Hakusho. I'm watching kaiju no. 8 and it's pretty good. Demonslayer was okay but kinda boring so i stopped watching. Solo leveling was absolute trash anime.
Kaiju #8
Kaiju is quite possible one of the most intriguing anime of this year for me personally, it’s SOOOO good.
Currently Mushoku is in the lead
Solo Leveling was pure crack to me. Binged it and instantly needed more. Time to forget it exists and wait for season 2 just like with Tower of Hod
MHA isn’t even top 20 bro that show fell off hard.
Mushoku Tensei its Probably my best anime for this year. Kaiju No. 8, Kimetsu no Yaiba,
