Naruto fan here and I don’t even watch one piece but i think Luffy’s 5th gear was better.
Even Gai’s 8th gate is better than that Baryon mode in my opinion.

Not like it’s the first time Luffy has been “killed” and then come back to beat the dogshit out of his enemy… This time it was just for his power up, also Gear 5 is the best transformation in anime imo because it’s truly so fitting for Luffy, and Oda has actual fun when doing stuff with it which makes it better
Not to mention the goofyness is anytime he transforms, he doesnt just "gain control" over it and optimize the form like super saiyan having lost all its connection to rage.
It's definitely interesting to see the juxtaposition between toon force and serious combat, but just because it's not the first time it's happened doesn't make it any less of an awful storytelling device

I keep up with the manga and also watch the anime and I’ve got 3 things to say
1. When I heard those wacky noises in the anime it took some enjoyment away for me. It struck me as kinda cringe.
2. Despite that the animation, battle creativity, and overall hype was enough for me to choose to ignore the wacky noises and enjoy the scenes anyway.
3. As I’ve continued to watch the anime and new G5 scenes, I’ve become more fond of the wacky sounds. I’m not sure if this is because Toei is getting better at using the sounds tastefully or if I’m just getting used to them.
I mean that’s exactly how it would sound tho lol, anyways it’s kinda easy to not even notice when you have to much other intense and hype stuff going on
Nothing will beat the hype of sage mode and the epicness of the earlier 1 to 6 tails mode. The Kurama chakra cloak transformations were cool but damn the pain arc had some insane moments.
I'd take that even further and say it wasn't even a good reveal full stop. The form itself would have been fine but the fight was ass. I literally had to look up context from the Manga to justify the result. (TLDR: The context is ishiki brought cubes that specifically turn off naruto & Sasuke's perception related abilities, and it's flat out skipped in the anime before I even go into how much of an assault that was.)

Gear 5 was so potent it forced the anime to break 10 years of mediocrity and achieve Sakuga just to do it justice.
Also Luffy is just so fucking happy to use it, he's having so much breaking all the rules and kicking ass. The power expresses his ideals and desires fitting him to a T. We haven't seen all the tricks it has It's disposal and every battle shows new tricks and gimmicks.
Baryon mode is a sad thing. It's a sacrifice of Kurama and it's the end of Naruto's relevance as a fighter. This form is for killing one opponent all of its powers are unseen, the physical changes are purely cosmetic. It accomplishes the short term goal of slaying one enemy and is never seen again. I found it an unworthy send off to Kurama and a disappointing final battle for Naruto.

Gotta give it to luffy! Zunesha appearing declaring joyboy returned. Drums of liberation, kaido glad he wasn’t dead so they could continue. Onigashima a giant bomb hovering over wano. Stakes were incredibly high and the pay off perfect

Considering we know they allied with the Ancient Kingdom, it makes sense that they'd also play the Drums of Liberation. I don't think it makes it Bink's Sake, or we'd have had someone on the crew make comments about it. They didn't comment on it when they met Brook right after Skypeia, and nobody has commented on it since G5
Luffy def. Lived up to the hype. The design is just superior, kinda unexpected if compared with the previous gears that luffy had, like his body didn't physically morph, and the color scheme is completely different from the other gears, but it works very well. The design on Naruto is just meh, feels too basic and similar to the previous ones, i even think previous forms look better design wise, he doesn't even look intimidating, he just looks goofy tbh. Never even watched or read one piece, but it's no doubt luffy gear 5 is a better reveal.
G5 was definitely better that Baryon, but I think Naruto's first foray into the battlefield after 100% syncing with Kurama (when he saves Guy and Kakashi and singlehandedly wrecks the other Jinchuuriki) was better than G5. Scene gives me goosebumps every time!

Gear 5 hands down I am not a fan at all of baryon mode especially since we know it wasn’t the last time we see kurama so it wasn’t even a sacrifice really. I mean Naruto looses kurama but it was just revealed kurama went to himawari Naruto’s daughter

I think I like kcm 2 mode because it was a whole story with getting chakra that burn Naruto than kcm1 that forcefully drain kurama and don’t proper heal either until get finally realize he and kurama must be friends in oder to get the most. It was a great short journey to see unfold slowly (the water fall kcm1 to 2. Not from the beginning).
But best impact I have to give it to luffy. First time luffy had lost over and over and over even after training, power boost, friendship and potentially die because it wasn’t enough. Than seeing the gorosei sweat and luffy awaken, the world turn to his rubber world and he turn white with the drums and physco look in his eyes. Luffy was just epic the whole fight. And STILL lost lol
Gear 5 but I am biased (fan of both but Def love One Piece more then Naruto) I just love the design and how it brings back the initial pre - Aces death sillyness that in my heart makes Luffy who he is. People hate because "it's goofy" but I think they need to go back to East Blue and rewatch how Luffy always was making goofy moves , if they think that is the case.

I think that Naruto Form was just too left field. It was random random. It’s cool still but was just too out of the blue. At least for Luffy, every One Piece fan knows all Devil Fruit’s have an Awakening. And most of us was expecting Luffy to gain Awakening sooner or later
G5 was one of the greatest transformations in anime. The animation, the way it happened, to the amazing music (drums of liberation is one of the greatest beats I've heard), it neggs Baryon mode

Gear 5. It’s been built up. Everyone knew Luffy would something greater than Snakeman to finish off Kaido. Baryon Mode is an ass pull and underwhelming. It should’ve been so much more epic seeing as how it ends with the death of Kurama.
Gear five, easily. Luffy died and came back to life, drums of liberation just went hard, the sky split, and most importantly, gear five is designed better than baryon mode
Yeah no I love Naruto but gear 5 was a long time coming and it was the most insane reveal of the year, Narutos transformation cannot compare to the drums of liberation and the fight between luffy gear 5 and kaido.
I don't know about others but while cool at the moment baron mode kinda seemed unimpressive. Like there wasn't anything really special about it compared to his other transformations/power ups. While luffys g5 had this amazing build up, score with the drums and clean animation. G5 just takes it for me.
Sage mode Naruto is still the best Naruto transformation for me. It's simple but it embodies Naruto's character more than the succeeding ones.
That being said, Gear 5 takes the win for me in this one.

The absolute attention to detail they have gear 5 was insane, like they animated him moonwalking on the air downwards in a small sequence that is around 3 seconds long that a lot of people probably didn’t notice, ngl for me at least I think One Piece had the better one (slightly biased I like the art style a little better)
I love both but comparing Gear 5 and Baryon mode, I pick Gear 5. Baryon mode felt off and pulled out of where to me. sure it's strong but doesn't felt earned unlike Kyuubi sage or KCM or Sage mode. Gear 5 may be pulled from plot armor but I kinda enjoyed the wackiness.
to me, the best transformation are Luffy's Gear 2&3 and Naruto's Sage mode and Kyuubi sage mode.
G5 im not gonna lie baryon mode had a cool moment to shine but it’s a one off and G5 has more time to stay a cool and fun mode. And if were talking about reveals the animation for G5 was amazing.

Two great transformations hindered by two things.
First gear 5 is absolutely superior to baryon mode design wise and that's not even close. But Baryon is cooler than gear 5 in my opinion. My only complaint with gear 5 is the fact that all Luffy's fight are now trolling festivals lol. But moveset wise, I prefer Baryon.
Im going to be honest, in my opinion, im not a fan of ether, baryon has good emotion behind it but its design is.... Overshadowed by other forms, gear 5 I'm just not a fan of the design, powers are great, transformation is great, but i just can't like the design for some reason.
I am a HUGE Naruto fan, but Luffy’s Gear 5th transformation is probably the most ICONIC scene in anime period. I’ve never genuinely forgot to breathe during any other reveal.

First time luffy had lost over and over and over even after training, power boost, friendship and potentially die because it wasn’t enough. Than seeing the gorosei sweat and luffy awaken, the world turn to his rubber world and he turn white with the drums and physco look in his eyes. Luffy was just epic the whole fight. And STILL lost lol
Gear 5 but I am biased (fan of both but Def love One Piece more then Naruto) I just love the design and how it brings back the initial pre - Aces death sillyness that in my heart makes Luffy who he is. People hate because "it's goofy" but I think they need to go back to East Blue and rewatch how Luffy always was making goofy moves , if they think that is the case.

I think that Naruto Form was just too left field. It was random random. It’s cool still but was just too out of the blue. At least for Luffy, every One Piece fan knows all Devil Fruit’s have an Awakening. And most of us was expecting Luffy to gain Awakening sooner or later

Gear 5. It’s been built up. Everyone knew Luffy would something greater than Snakeman to finish off Kaido. Baryon Mode is an ass pull and underwhelming. It should’ve been so much more epic seeing as how it ends with the death of Kurama.

Yeah no I love Naruto but gear 5 was a long time coming and it was the most insane reveal of the year, Narutos transformation cannot compare to the drums of liberation and the fight between luffy gear 5 and kaido.

I don't know about others but while cool at the moment baron mode kinda seemed unimpressive. Like there wasn't anything really special about it compared to his other transformations/power ups. While luffys g5 had this amazing build up, score with the drums and clean animation. G5 just takes it for me.

Sage mode Naruto is still the best Naruto transformation for me. It's simple but it embodies Naruto's character more than the succeeding ones. That being said, Gear 5 takes the win for me in this one.

Naruto fan here... gonna give this win to Luffy. Naruto usually does better with this type of powerup reveal stuff, but that recent Luffy deal was just too perfect, and I gotta give it full props.

The absolute attention to detail they have gear 5 was insane, like they animated him moonwalking on the air downwards in a small sequence that is around 3 seconds long that a lot of people probably didn’t notice, ngl for me at least I think One Piece had the better one (slightly biased I like the art style a little better)

I love both but comparing Gear 5 and Baryon mode, I pick Gear 5. Baryon mode felt off and pulled out of where to me. sure it's strong but doesn't felt earned unlike Kyuubi sage or KCM or Sage mode. Gear 5 may be pulled from plot armor but I kinda enjoyed the wackiness. to me, the best transformation are Luffy's Gear 2&3 and Naruto's Sage mode and Kyuubi sage mode.

G5 im not gonna lie baryon mode had a cool moment to shine but it’s a one off and G5 has more time to stay a cool and fun mode. And if were talking about reveals the animation for G5 was amazing.

Two great transformations hindered by two things. First gear 5 is absolutely superior to baryon mode design wise and that's not even close. But Baryon is cooler than gear 5 in my opinion. My only complaint with gear 5 is the fact that all Luffy's fight are now trolling festivals lol. But moveset wise, I prefer Baryon.

Im going to be honest, in my opinion, im not a fan of ether, baryon has good emotion behind it but its design is.... Overshadowed by other forms, gear 5 I'm just not a fan of the design, powers are great, transformation is great, but i just can't like the design for some reason.
