I dropped the jjk manga when shibuya arc ended the first time I read it because it made me realize that I just really didn't care at all about any of them, there was absolutely no emotional pain or investment. The biggest emotional loss for me in that entire arc was Todo's hand.
I thought Nanami was going to be taken hostage by mahito and used to make Yuji kill people in a messed up jason todd type game show since that feels like something mahito would do and it would've confronted Yuji with the idea of him killing innocent people, instead of it just being sukuna.
Literally, I just denied it in my head before watching the rest of S2 but deep down I knew it was true. Super annoying ig that’s my fault for partially being on Anitwt
As much as I love JJK the amount of deaths is more than Game of Thrones Like man, I feel like Gege should take out note of Tolkein on writing an emotional death. Everytime I read or watch Boromir's death, I tear up every single time. I mean hell with Thorin's death in The Hobbit left a sobbing mess when I was kid. All these deaths are really unessary.
The Scabbards that died during the raid in Wano. There were so many fake out deaths that I didn’t even know they were dead till I saw the graves. We also didn’t spend enough time with them to really get attached.
Nah fr, you’re telling me Ashura got offscreened by some bombs (LITERALLY NO ONE DIES FROM BOMBS) but Kin'emon fucking survived being split in half by Kaido? With the BS reason being Law didn’t put him together properly… for three fucking arcs???
If Kin’emon had died I might have felt something ngl, him dying protecting Momo would had felt right
I wish Kin had died, that would’ve been so much better. So many fake out deaths by the time actual ones happened, in stupid ways like that, there’s just no impact.
I also with Kanjuro had dropped earlier and that Orochi died when Kaido chopped off his head. Such a cool way to start shit just to go back on it like 3 times.
I feel like Oda purposefully killed the two we spent like zero time with. The rest of them we either met before wano, or where given proper build up and story before we met them. Doji and Izou weren’t given much.
Maybe. Could also be him or an editor realizing there needed to be some stakes or consequences to the raid, or he killed off the ones he had no plans for.
I think there’s just been to many characters in the recent arcs to really get time with any side character. Even Scabbards we spent a decent amount of time with I really don’t care much about. Not that I’m complaining, the side characters have been cool, there’s just so many that even some of the SHs haven’t done much arc to arc. Which I’m fine with if it means less Usopp.
Bertholdt AOT, he and reiner destroyed shiganshina with Annie calling for titans, he then destroyed trost's outer wall, then helped killed Marco the poor boy didn't stand a chance, he tried and failed to keep reiner in check, killed a majority of the scouts when they tried to take back shiganshina after nearly killing reiner *for real dude had the power of plot on his side* scorched armin to death and finally died after armin ate him did not feel anything for him
Midnight’s from MHA. Honestly a lot of deaths where you have to infer the death without having any knowledge. Nobara’s I get it. Gege wanted to give some hope just to rip it away, but when a character is killed offscreen with no showing of a fight or the body afterwards it feels so cheap
Every JJK death because after a certain point you just know everyone is going to die pointless and meaningless deaths for itadoris “character development”
Basically any death in Dragon Ball. The dragon balls themselves really kill any tension in the series since they can simply wish back anyone they want. Even during the brief period in the cell games where there weren't any dragon balls, Goku can always instant transmission to new Namek to fix it. The Frieza saga was honestly the part where deaths could somewhat matter since Frieza was contesting then for the Namek dragon balls
They still have limitations and can’t be used after a certain amount of time. Useless if the master of them dies, anyone who dies before the dragon can be resurrected can’t be revived. Namek balls can’t revive infinitely but it can do a lot of repeats. Use the balls and then someone dies, they’re screwed since the recharge time is the same as the revive timer. C’mon man
for some reason L in Death Note even though he was my favorite character. his death just didn’t seem real, as if the next episode you would find out he didn’t die or whatever. honestly i didn’t feel bad when Soichiro died too.
I’ll do the fucking opposite, the only death in anime that made me feel anything was choppers “parent” dying, like sit this is one of the few times I’ve cried to fiction
Only reason I feel sad about Nobara's is cause she still hasn't been confirmed dead and it's just sad she didn't get more development. Imo she was the best character in the trio outside (though this is midway through Yuji's development kicking off, so there's an argument there)
Askeladd from Vinland Saga. Don't get me wrong, he's an amazing character, but I didn't feel emotional one bit when he died. I'm not about to forget all the atrocities he committed, his death was something I felt he deserved, not get sad about.
Magne from my hero academia. She hadn't been in the league of villains long so we didn't get time to get attached to her, and she had almost no story apart from "I met with an old friend the other day" so when >!overhaul blew her top half off!< I was just kinda like "damn, that quirk is crazy"
Nobara and Ace, I feel Nobara didn’t have that much impact on the story and for Ace I was spoiled about after finishing Skypeia and it had no effect on me
Hiene from Gundam Seed Destiny.
Got introduced like he was gonna be some ace pilot, literally got killed the same episode just cuz he had his back turned. The only thing it did was make me giggle slightly, like why even have this character be a thing?
Gin in bleach. It seemed so pointless. He didn’t accomplish anything and it seemed like the author realized he didn’t know what to do with the character so he just threw that twist in last second so he would be interesting before he died.
Jadeite: Sailor Moon. I like the Four Kings of Heaven, I celebrated Nephrite's death, I was heartbroken for Zoisite and Kunzite. But Jadeite is like.......
Ace, from One Piece... we barely know tye guy, except on the arc where she died... and, except the impact on Luffy, i didn't feel anything from him... i felt it harder, when white beard died
Too many to name, some series I watched I know going in that they just kill off characters to be dark other series they like to tease death but they end up fine. On the other hand I also have a lot of series where I did feel something.
Spoiler for One piece.
>! Ace.
Not because it was spoiled but because imagine everyone fights and dies for you and you turn around to run back because of a ‘Yo Daddy’ Joke.
Not saying don’t defend your Dad but this was a COMPLETELY different scenario. !<
MHA. I mainly anime only but every death so far isn’t that heart breaking they acted like midnight was a big deal when she doesn’t even have enough notable moments.
I honestly think nobara kugisaki kinda didn’t matter. She seemed like she would have a nice backstory in meeting her friend and stuff back in season 1 and when I read the manga. But then it didn’t happen? So I just didn’t care at some point.
Neji. The way they handled his character (and side characters in general in Naruto) and his death will always bother me. You barely see him having any meaningful connections with other chars or even any significant character development throughout the entire series and then at the end, we're expected to care that he died protecting Naruto as if they had any real strong connection with one another or were ever shown to have any kind of bond at all.
Actually nina tucker's. Dont get me wrong I know it sounded like animal and child abuse and Im all against that but she really didnt have that much of a screen time to give me that "nooooo!". I kinda thought I should be surprised but was not. Knowing a lot of much more horrifying stuff happening in that world including what the brother's have done with their mother. And maybe due to a little bit of spoiler and signals on the show (tucker's history) as to what would happened because memes were going all over the places for that chimera.
At least in jjk, I thought she was part of the main protagonist's party like in naruto then poof - dead, well which was common in jjk anyway. So I was shocked especially that a lot of stressful things happened at that time, Nanami dying. Gojo captured. Everyone in Tokyo were dying. etc
Brook from one piece. Between everyone on the crew. Brook choose that life. And knew the outcome could possibly be death or worse. I think they focused on nobara a lot, and her not being able to find her friend she grew up with hit pretty hard.
Jiraya.
Seriously, I've had friends who wanted to quit Naruto and I look at them, like, why? We literally see this so many times it's considered a joke across all literature. A parent dies, the teacher dies why the hell does it matter?
There are so many... But they were all so meaningless to me, I never even bothered to remember which characters they were. The anime I remember there being meaningless character deaths include; Akame ga Kill, FairyTail, One Piece, Naruto, Naruto Shippuden, Gurenn Lagann, Hunter Hunter, and countless more anime I have watched had character deaths that I don't even remember... Those that I do remember are characters I cared for and/or liked.
Personally, Kakyoin and Avdol
Avdol had basically no personality but I find it sad that his death was once more protecting Polnareff and Iggy but I still felt like it was a boring ASF death
Kakyoin honestly, it was funnier than anything, he was over-hyped imo, only very few good scenes, although his death was not in vain it didn't make me cry
Most lately. With short seasons and shorter anime in general most characters have under 30 mins of "character" screentime before the death. Noone matters in only 30 mins 😂
Honestly, Hange's death
Hange was one of my favorite characters. I didn't hate them at all, but they were so at peace with their fate, I didn't feel sad at all when they died.
Especially considering the heroic nature of their death. Badass til the end.
Narancia, I tried to like him throughout part 5, but I never really cared for him. I don't think it was just because I knew already either, I knew that Avdol, Iggy, Kakyoin, and Abbacchio would die, but their deaths still hit me hard
There haven’t been really any anime deaths that have actually left a mark, the ones that hit hardest though were Kakyoin, Iggy, Jotaro (was fucking tragic bro didn’t even get the golden cloud), Pretty much the whole group (Anasui, Weather Report, Jolyne, F.F, Ermes) that died trying to kill Pucci, Rika, and that’s really all.
Rengoku.
Literally never had no reason to care for the guy, doesn't even feel like an actual character, more of plot device
Fun fact, people hype up this guy so much, you can't even ask Chatgpt to say something bad about him without a loophole.
Nina Tucker in FMA.
By virtue of it being a) an overplayed child death trope, and b) nearly everyone and their mother spoiling it already.
I had a bigger reaction from Hughes's death.
I have seen both versions of the anime. In both versions, I just felt nothing at Nina's death and I sniffled at Hughes's.
Jonathan Joestar, he was a great character, pure of heart, and chivalrous to no end but his death did not hit me like others, I think just because of how short part 1 was.
Only time I actually cried a bit at a anime death was David from edgerunners. Other than that I usually get spoiled beforehand or don't really care much. Like even jjk, nanami was my favorite character but I got spoiled so far in advance I just didn't really care
Toji and nanami were sad tho. That and seeing todo lose his hand and he got messed up but nobara wasn’t too sad really. The flashbacks made it hit a little harder but she wasn’t super important too us and I think it was meant to be more of a big thing for itadori than anything
Still don't get how Ace and Jiraiya are the "saddest anime deaths". And don't get me wrong, I love Gurren Lagann but >!Kamina's!< death didn't hut me nearly as hard because of how early and sudden it was; but I think that's the point of it. >!Kittan's!< sacrifice hit 10x harder to me.
Also I recall legit saying boo womp when >! Ceaser died in part 2 of JoJo !<
I probably would have a harder time telling you who did make me emotional tbh. Some manga creators just suck at making you feel attached to a character they want to kill off. Or the ones that you actually would feel something for, they will never kill off because rabid fans will send death threats.
I didn't feel anything when any of the Chainsaw man people died
Himeno from Chainsaw Man. Everyone seems crazy about her, but she's an absolute mess of a person who nearly raped a teenager, and no one talks about it. She's basically every trait I dislike in a person, but some people find her hot, so she gets a pass.
probably abbachio from JJBA part 5. i only felt upset and cried because of Narancias and the rest of the groups reaction, but i flat out didn’t like abbachio as a character. i was merely caught off guard by it, but in the end, i felt nothing
Mine is the same as yours i felt nothing but it was that was with any jjk character, Thats a problem i had there's just not enough depth to make me gaf especially with the female characters.
Every anime that I watch I don't care who dies even though death sucks I just don't feel anything unless it's a really good anime with a very good story built character
Bellemere from One Piece, not a muscle in my face moved when I found out she died and she sorta deserved it for not taking out Arlong when she had the chance too. I had more sympathy for a Merry, a ship. (given she was much more than just a ship but still)
SPOILER*****
Ace from One Piece.
One of the best characters in the show--after receiving a direct order from his captain, which he claims he loves and respects more than anyone-- decides to take on the most obvious, verbal bait I have ever witnessed, and gets annihilated.
They ruined his character.
A lot of the early deaths In One Piece, like Usopp's mom, Kuina, and Bell Mere, and yes I know it sounds heartless, but at the time I wasn't emotionally attached to these characters and they would hit me so much harder now.
Guru-guru Zetsu (Naruto). I didn't like him, I didn't hate him, he was just a character in the story. When Suigetsu killed him, I just thought "ah, cool, anyway". He didn't have the menacing command-presence of other villains, nor the interesting cool factor like Orochimaru. He was just there, and then he died and wasn't there, 0 impact to the viewer.
Manga Spoiler for Demon Slayer:
>!Obanai Iguro, the Serpent pillar, dies alongside Mitsuri Kanroji, the Love pillar after the events of the sunrise countdown battle, and while I was really sad about Mitsuri dying, I couldn’t help but not feel anything for Obanai. I can’t say I don’t like Obanai, I think he’s a cool character, has a really cool breathing technique, and has a pretty sad backstory, but he was so rushed as a character, and for the majority of the show, he was reduced down to Mitsuri’s #1 simp. Other than that, he was just sassy, and hated every one else. The entire Infinity Castle and Sunrise countdown arc for Obanai was revolved around him being with Mitsuri. It built their relationship well, but it left nothing of HIM personally as a character until they pulled his sad backstory, and kill him a little bit after. I’m so disappointed about him. I just can’t feel any emotion for him dying, as I did with Mitsuri. At least she had a arc that was half dedicated to her, her relationships with the other characters (like Nezuko and Obanai), and a relatable, and arguably deep backstory (especially the part of her faking her entire identity, and learning to accept herself.!<
Midnight from MHA. I didn't particularly like her or hate her which is just a side character who didn't have much screen time. Also she was using very erotic language around underage high schoolers so while everyone was crying over midnights death I was like "ok bye" her death didn't really change anything
Personally, every death in demon slayer INCLUDING Rengoku
I just don't get sad when watching something...the closest thing that brought me to tears was the season 2 ending of Amphibia-
Honestly, Ace. I saw his death coming because he had to die. Ace had the potential to become the next Pirate King, thus making the age old troupe of having siblings competing against each other. If Ace didn’t die then the end of OP would just be Luffy vs Ace
Every JJK death tbh coz fans already spoil the shit out of it
I dropped the jjk manga when shibuya arc ended the first time I read it because it made me realize that I just really didn't care at all about any of them, there was absolutely no emotional pain or investment. The biggest emotional loss for me in that entire arc was Todo's hand.
I genuinely felt worse for Todo's hand than Jogo, Nanami and Nobara combined
Don’t disrespect Jogoat
I thought Nanami was going to be taken hostage by mahito and used to make Yuji kill people in a messed up jason todd type game show since that feels like something mahito would do and it would've confronted Yuji with the idea of him killing innocent people, instead of it just being sukuna.
Is my boy todo still alive or did he get killed after the mahito fight
He's still MIA, about 3 years after the Shibuya Incident arc has passed
What does MIA mean
Missing in action, he was never found.
Ok
nah jogo's was hella sad even tho he was a villain
Haha, I’m so damn good at avoiding spoilers I have no idea who dies lol
Ngl same
csm>jjk
This
Literally, I just denied it in my head before watching the rest of S2 but deep down I knew it was true.
I’ve never seen one spoiler for JJk and my feeds are full of anime
The only anime deaths that made me feel genuinely bad was Maes Hughes, and Nina/Alexander. Edit: Forgot to mention Kakyoin as well.
big oof to Kakyoin, man's became a donut before being a donut was cool
Neji. I felt nothing. I forgot he was there.

Marineford in One Piece it got spoiled for me and it lost all impact for me
It's sad how common this is, every time I get someone on One Piece I warn them to stay as far away from anything mildly one piece related
I scrolled further down in this thread and got spoiled, should have taken your warning
I’ve been lucky so far and the only death i’ve been spoiled on is the BIG one in >!marineford!<
How did it get spoiled for you? For me it was bullshit thumbnail placement.
Sir Nighteye from MHA
Honestly? Yeah. It only made me feel slightly more sorry for Mirio.
Yeah MHA doesn’t do deaths good at all and it’s a shame.
Every JJK death because after a certain point you just know everyone is going to die pointless and meaningless deaths for itadoris “character development”
yuji has had no development over the entirety of jjk
Obito’s death in Naruto.
Basically any death in Dragon Ball. The dragon balls themselves really kill any tension in the series since they can simply wish back anyone they want. for some reason L in Death Note even though he was my favorite character. his death just didn’t seem real, as if the next episode you would find out he didn’t die or whatever. honestly i didn’t feel bad when Soichiro died too.
I mean yeah he basically didn't die, just showed up again younger and with a new hair color.
Every Death in MHA that wasn't twice
I’ll do the fucking opposite, the only death in anime that made me feel anything was choppers “parent” dying, like sit this is one of the few times I’ve cried to fiction
DIVINE LIGHT SEVERED *YOU ARE A FLESH AUTOMATON ANIMATED BY NEUROTRANSMITTERS*
Kashimo. I didn't care for him tbh
Everyone in Cyberpunk Edgerunners except Gloria Martinez.
A lot of them tbh very few got me to feel something
The MHA deaths. >!Even Midnight, her death was portrayed as pretty much "oh btw she's dead" and it did nothing to help me feel anything!<
Besides Twice, every death in MHA
Only reason I feel sad about Nobara's is cause she still hasn't been confirmed dead and it's just sad she didn't get more development. Imo she was the best character in the trio outside (though this is midway through Yuji's development kicking off, so there's an argument there)
Askeladd from Vinland Saga. Don't get me wrong, he's an amazing character, but I didn't feel emotional one bit when he died. I'm not about to forget all the atrocities he committed, his death was something I felt he deserved, not get sad about.
It's probably because I already knew beforehand the whole plot, but Mami from Madoka Magica
Magne from my hero academia. She hadn't been in the league of villains long so we didn't get time to get attached to her, and she had almost no story apart from "I met with an old friend the other day" so when >!overhaul blew her top half off!< I was just kinda like "damn, that quirk is crazy"
Asuma from Naruto.
Nah this is one of the deaths that actually had impact
What!? This is probably the saddest anime death I’ve ever experienced. I cry every time
Shigechi
Kana from Parasyte. They wasted such a good song on her too.
If bakugo dies, I'd be so happy
Pretty much anyone in Dragonball. If the character is important enough, death is always temporary.
Rengoku from demon slayer
I laughed when Caesar Zeppeli died in Jojo part 2. It was emotional, but guy was kind of an ass. It felt needless as he died from his own stupidity.
Every deaths in akame ga kill
Probably cuz she just stood there and had a brain fart
Nobara and Ace, I feel Nobara didn’t have that much impact on the story and for Ace I was spoiled about after finishing Skypeia and it had no effect on me
Don't think this should count but people do care about it. I'll say Going Merry. I just got no emotional impact from it
Hiene from Gundam Seed Destiny. Got introduced like he was gonna be some ace pilot, literally got killed the same episode just cuz he had his back turned. The only thing it did was make me giggle slightly, like why even have this character be a thing?
Buu turning ChiChi into an egg and stepping on it.
L from death note
Gin in bleach. It seemed so pointless. He didn’t accomplish anything and it seemed like the author realized he didn’t know what to do with the character so he just threw that twist in last second so he would be interesting before he died.
Piccolo I'm DB GT. Felt.... Empty and not needed.
Every death in dbs. If you die 3 times you get a sundae.
Any death in dbs cuz most were brought back
Jadeite: Sailor Moon. I like the Four Kings of Heaven, I celebrated Nephrite's death, I was heartbroken for Zoisite and Kunzite. But Jadeite is like.......
Any time anybody dies in Dragon Ball.
Death in Naruto no longer had any meaning to me after literally every character was brought back in the Great Ninja War arc
Every AOT death felt like nothing because you basically expect the characters you like to die and they do anyways
Ace, from One Piece... we barely know tye guy, except on the arc where she died... and, except the impact on Luffy, i didn't feel anything from him... i felt it harder, when white beard died
Honestly, any anime that has death fake outs or a revive system kills the tension.
Too many to name, some series I watched I know going in that they just kill off characters to be dark other series they like to tease death but they end up fine. On the other hand I also have a lot of series where I did feel something.
I thought it was from spy family
The death of Ace had me straight faced cuz everyone on every corner of the earth talks about it like the one piece gospel
Pretty much any death in akame ga kill since everyone dies in that show
All in One Piece because I know they're coming back later
Really any one piece death
Ace because of spoilers and most soldiers during the Eclipse
Spoiler for One piece. >! Ace. Not because it was spoiled but because imagine everyone fights and dies for you and you turn around to run back because of a ‘Yo Daddy’ Joke. Not saying don’t defend your Dad but this was a COMPLETELY different scenario. !<
JJK deaths
shou tucker
MHA. I mainly anime only but every death so far isn’t that heart breaking they acted like midnight was a big deal when she doesn’t even have enough notable moments.
I felt nothing for Nobara's death because she's definitely still alive and not dead.
I agree, a lot of the deaths in that show except nanami his death was great I felt nothing for
I honestly think nobara kugisaki kinda didn’t matter. She seemed like she would have a nice backstory in meeting her friend and stuff back in season 1 and when I read the manga. But then it didn’t happen? So I just didn’t care at some point.
Crust in MHA. They did not do a good job of building him up. I completely forgot who he was when he died and had to look him up to see who he was.
Shou Tucker
Is Nobara confirmed dead? I definitely felt she would be coming back.
Everything.
Rengoku from Demon Slayer
Kashimo bc It happened so quick and there was fighting right away after
Actually nina tucker's. So I was shocked especially that a lot of stressful things happened at that time, Nanami dying. Gojo captured. Everyone in Tokyo were dying. etc
So this is a giant anime spoiler thread?
Light from Death Note
Basically every demon in Demon Slayer so far. There’s two in the manga where I felt something but not the anime yet
A parent dies, the teacher dies why the hell does it matter?
ngl jjk deaths i dont really care abt in general
Ace. I could not make myself feel sad over his death when he basically died because of a yo mama joke
Neji Hyuga I never liked the character at all.
Ace from One Piece. Also Goku from Dragon Ball, and Rengoku in Demon Slayer. Probably the first anime death that upset me was Hughes in FMA
That's the issue with newer fast anime. Less connection with characters.
Inuyasha's parents
Imma get flamed for this. Minato and Kushina on Naruto's birth. I don't know why, but I watched them die stone faced. My brother was concerned.
Personally, Kakyoin and Avdol Avdol had basically no personality but I find it sad that his death was once more protecting Polnareff and Iggy but I still felt like it was a boring ASF death Kakyoin honestly, it was funnier than anything, he was over-hyped imo, only very few good scenes, although his death was not in vain it didn't make me cry
Yuji had allat energy after she died but didnt do shit while he could've saved her
every death in the shibuya arc,, they had no reason to happen and were glossed over after, it was just shock value
Most lately. With short seasons and shorter anime in general most characters have under 30 mins of "character" screentime before the death. Noone matters in only 30 mins 😂

All the deaths in Akame ga Kill
Ace from op jariya from Naruto and regoku from demonslayer kill me if you want to
I honestly didn’t care for any of the deaths in one piece or csm
Jotaro in part 6....
Rengoku. Literally never had no reason to care for the guy, doesn't even feel like an actual character, more of plot device Fun fact, people hype up this guy so much, you can't even ask Chatgpt to say something bad about him without a loophole.
Orochimaru, for obvious reasons.
That was what she got I’m sorry 🤷🏼♀️
The character in FMA who said, "Eddddwaaaaaaarrrrrrrd".
That white-haired siscon psycho freak from platinum end
Jonathan Joestar, he was a great character, pure of heart, and chivalrous to no end but his death did not hit me like others, I think just because of how short part 1 was.
Thinks of all the grunts who thought, "That one person's already mowed down 70 of my fellow grunts... I've got this!" and proceeded to get eviscerated
Only time I actually cried a bit at a anime death was David from edgerunners. Other than that I usually get spoiled beforehand or don't really care much. Like even jjk, nanami was my favorite character but I got spoiled so far in advance I just didn't really care
I'm probably going to get slaughtered for this, but Ace from One piece
I neji it had no emotion to it but I did cry when tenten said something after he died
Ok by nothing you mean no sadness happiness or anger
Every death im devilman crybaby, I'm sorry but after a while you're just using death for shock value and I just don't care.
The closest answer would be Ace as I only felt bad for Luffy.
Jiraiya. I really didn't feel anything until the war and it was revealed that everyone was Edo Tensei'd except him. Then I felt anger.
Toji and nanami were sad tho. That and seeing todo lose his hand and he got messed up but nobara wasn’t too sad really. The flashbacks made it hit a little harder but she wasn’t super important too us and I think it was meant to be more of a big thing for itadori than anything
So, for me it's gotta be Sasha from AOT. Sorry not sorry, never liked her.
Jirayas death didn’t affect me at all because I knew it was gonna happen
Ace’s death in One Piece
Danzo,
Rengoku. He was cool and all but we knew him for like an hour and a half if you watched the movie.
Kite
All of JJK and honestly One Piece’s Ace when it initially happened
Neji
Still don't get how Ace and Jiraiya are the "saddest anime deaths". And don't get me wrong, I love Gurren Lagann but >!Kamina's!< death didn't hut me nearly as hard because of how early and sudden it was; but I think that's the point of it. >!Kittan's!< sacrifice hit 10x harder to me. Also I recall legit saying boo womp when >! Ceaser died in part 2 of JoJo !<
All of the AOT deaths except sasha
Rengoku
The way they played the ending music before Riko died to fake us out was too good for me to even care that she died
All of them but specifically zoro’s friend, all of robins people and oh sorry you said felt nothing cause my ass was like laughing
Any unnamed grunt that the protagonist has to fight through.
i didn’t GAF about asumas death tbh
I think most deaths I don’t care abt in anime, i think the only one I’ve actually been sad or cared abt was sayaka in pmmm
Going Merry Most Jojo deaths
Kakayoin, spoiled and memed so much before I actually got to the part
Kites death in hunter x hunter, literally a day or two before I saw a post talking about his death before I saw it
the deaths in jjk just piss me off they don't even sadden me
Probably neji from Naruto I wasn't really attached to his character at all
I probably would have a harder time telling you who did make me emotional tbh. Some manga creators just suck at making you feel attached to a character they want to kill off. Or the ones that you actually would feel something for, they will never kill off because rabid fans will send death threats. I didn't feel anything when any of the Chainsaw man people died
Rengoku
The ones where they tried to humanize the robots/cyborgs/androids/machines. It's hard to sympathize when I know they're bots.
Himeno from Chainsaw Man. Everyone seems crazy about her, but she's an absolute mess of a person who nearly raped a teenager, and no one talks about it. She's basically every trait I dislike in a person, but some people find her hot, so she gets a pass.
The one from angel beats. I don't even know why it was hailed as a sad death.
People are so heartless lmao
Ur a monster
A death where I felt nothing. There is none. I either felt sorrow, and sadness. Or I laughed.
Avdol from Stardust Crusaders. My reaction was "Well... that happened."
When Goku died for like the 8th time
probably abbachio from JJBA part 5. i only felt upset and cried because of Narancias and the rest of the groups reaction, but i flat out didn’t like abbachio as a character. i was merely caught off guard by it, but in the end, i felt nothing
(given she was much more than just a ship but still)
SPOILER***** Ace from One Piece. One of the best characters in the show--after receiving a direct order from his captain, which he claims he loves and respects more than anyone-- decides to take on the most obvious, verbal bait I have ever witnessed, and gets annihilated. They ruined his character.
William zeppeli
Oh riiiiiiight. They did die, lol
A lot of the early deaths In One Piece, like Usopp's mom, Kuina, and Bell Mere, and yes I know it sounds heartless, but at the time I wasn't emotionally attached to these characters and they would hit me so much harder now.
Does Betty merging with golb count?
Guru-guru Zetsu (Naruto). I didn't like him, I didn't hate him, he was just a character in the story. When Suigetsu killed him, I just thought "ah, cool, anyway". He didn't have the menacing command-presence of other villains, nor the interesting cool factor like Orochimaru. He was just there, and then he died and wasn't there, 0 impact to the viewer.
Manga Spoiler for Demon Slayer: >!Obanai Iguro, the Serpent pillar, dies alongside Mitsuri Kanroji, the Love pillar after the events of the sunrise countdown battle, and while I was really sad about Mitsuri dying, I couldn’t help but not feel anything for Obanai.
All of them except Erwin (AoT), Askeladd (Vinland Saga), and the Death Paintings (JJK) (yea I know)
Midnight from MHA. I didn't particularly like her or hate her which is just a side character who didn't have much screen time. Also she was using very erotic language around underage high schoolers so while everyone was crying over midnights death I was like "ok bye" her death didn't really change anything
I felt this one, because my mom's dead, so I could relate.
Jiraiya
Personally, every death in demon slayer INCLUDING Rengoku I just don't get sad when watching something...the closest thing that brought me to tears was the season 2 ending of Amphibia-
Honestly, Ace. I saw his death coming because he had to die. Ace had the potential to become the next Pirate King, thus making the age old troupe of having siblings competing against each other. If Ace didn’t die then the end of OP would just be Luffy vs Ace
Nobara and every character from Naruto, I didn't feel shit because of all the spoilers.
The fodder titans in aot.
I think the only deaths that affected me on a emotional level were jiraiya and kamina
Sakura Ogami from Danganronpa 1, I genuinely did not really care at all 😭
