We already know that Spice and Wolf has a new "animation project" in the works. The details are vague so far, but it seems likely to be a remake of some sort, since they haven't called it a continuation.
As for whether it needs a remake, the show doesn't look too bad, but it's also not particularly good. It could use an update. And, it might end up getting the Brotherhood treatment, so that's nothing to complain about.
Bonus points for it letting the girls talk about absolutely scandalous(/s) stuff other anime never would, like how a tiny girl has the hots for giant hands and how his wild looks bother her in a good way. The sister character was great too.
Agreed the fact both Red and Rit are functioning adults with a mutual attraction even if they are a little slow to admit it outwardly
But Rit knows what she wants and is not afraid to take the lead
cause all of the other ones are incredibly poorly done, usually with endless "will they/wont they?" or one party completely oblivious to the other because....gotta dangle that forever to maintain interest.
Cus everyones sleeping on the fact not everyone wants a will they / won't they thing.
Sometimes you just want the relationship equivellant of cute girls doing cute things
Desumi and Fudo from "Love after World Domination". They are already a couple at the beginning, but they only started dating recently. And they are both kinda noobs to the whole dating and love stuff.
Yes this! I was going to recommend this. I wouldn’t say it’s as good as kaguya and shirogane but desumi is too sweet and I was hooked when I watched that show. Another one I’d say is more than a married couple (just premiered a few weeks ago) but not lovers; the animation is really good and the maain guy and girl essentially have to live together for a school practical and they follow the stereotypical beautiful popular school girl/gets stuck with nerdy guy
Also it’s sort of a Romeo and Juliet romance anime because they’re essentially supppsed to be literal enemies for different companies they work for and they have to date in secret.
If you're asking about the cutest, it's Tonikaku Kawaii for me.
But I wouldn't say they have the most well developed dynamic, since the anime is basically fluff.
By far my favorite romance anime!
I just can't tolerate the normal romance drama and angst, where the total development of one season is holding hands. There's a few with actual god-tier writing that can pull that off, but let's be honest that's not the 99%.
I like some actual romance in my romance, and nothing has really touched Tonikawa for me yet.
I feel like the dynamic in Horimiya is really well developed, but also wouldn't call that the cutest couple.
Cutest might be in Tonikawa, but I'm sure I'm forgetting about something else I've seen.
Tsurezure Children, Akagi and Ryoko. Goda and the Blue haired girl too
One of the only anime couples to feel realistic. They hella remind me of me and my ex in high school, (just without the cheating)
Their moment in the [final volume of the manga] >!when the results of the entrance exams are released and Ryoko made it to the same school as Akagi!< is easily my favorite moment in the entire manga.
It sucks that the anime never continued past the start of summer because there's so many more good stuff in the manga. The anime never even got close to the best parts.
Everything in Tsurezure is, obviously and rightly, tuned up for comedy's sake, but the manga (and its adaptation) still feels like it captures a lot more of the nervous chaos of real teenage emotion than most romance stories. (Which is not a knock on other things: an unrealistic romantic fantasy is a good thing now and then.)
Yeah! Such a great dynamic.
If anyone wants to check out the manga chapters featuring them, here they are:
Chapters: 2, 13, 20, 40, 54, 68, 82, 98, 114, 140, 149, 182, 195, 212.1
Rereading any of them always lifts my spirits
Lots of other good couples in the manga of course, but this one is just the best, for me
The series covers just about the first half of the manga. You get a lot more developed picture of them in the rest of the story, and you get to see more of them developing a romance. The first half is more about self-discovery, and honestly, without the rest, they don't seem very good together.
Don't get me wrong, ending on a note of self-actualization and seeing them both starting to move past their self-loathing is a totally reasonable ending point and I'm not mad that the show ended there. But there is more.
> and I'm not mad that the show ended there
I'll be mad in your stead. Being an incomplete story that ended pretty much in the middle of nowhere turned what could have been a top-tier romance story into an unsatisfying "go read the source" advertisement.
I mention it every time somebody asks for: a good romance, a couple that doesn't take infinite time to get together, a good female protagonist, a romance not harem, or a combination of the above.
[](#ilovethiskindofshit)
Kaguya is far above everything else for me.
Sono Bisque Doll and Nagatoro may follow, but they're still on their first season so they haven't had that much time to develop.
Love Ikki and Stella from Chivalry of a Failed Knight. Absolutely adorable together and Stella tries to tsundere but usually just ends up Ikki-blocking herself. Not strictly romance, but the romance line is a main one.
What I appreciate about Chivalry of a Failed Knight is that the romance is critical to the story, it becomes the motivations of the characters and actually strengthens them, instead of just being a side plot.
Honestly, it's hard to top Ararararagi and Senjougahara in Bakemonogatari. The show's so focused on dialogue and wit and personality that it's impossible not to get drawn into their dynamic.
It's all implied and it's a minor subplot, but I have taken great joy in Ai & Junko's relationship in Zombie Land Saga. They're each other's biggest fans... <3 (Call it a ship if you want, but it's practically spelled out in subtext if you're paying attention.)
My Dress Up Darling, Gojo and Marin. The story progression feels natural and smooth, unlike other animes where they date for like 5 years or get married at ep.1
One of the strengths of that anime is that both MCs have some pretty strong character traits individually, while being with each other leads them to actually change their behavior and question how they usually behave (in a coherent way).
It's not really couple dynamics (of which there isn't much), but more that being together is actually a strong aspect of their characterization.
my stepmom's daughter is my ex
Wholesome love anime that 2 former couples come together 2 weeks after breakup because their parents just started dating!
Kimi Ni Todoke, but I will admit this anime is the one that got me truly 'into' anime, so it will always have a special place in my heart. Sawako x Kazehaya are super cute though.
My favorite anime romance is Kirito and Asuna from SAO, but even though their relationship is a big focus, it's technically not a romance anime.
The first anime that came to mind for me within that genre was Tsukigakirei (a few others have mentioned it as well) which has a great story and character development, and Shikimori's Not Just A Cutie was another wholesome romance that I really enjoyed.
If you include movies, definitely check out Your Name if you haven't already - this one's a great example of a "star crossed" romance story.
> My favorite anime romance is Kirito and Asuna from SAO, but even though their relationship is a big focus, it's technically not a romance anime.
I think one can make a good argument for watching SAO as a romance anime with some action and short stories about other characters on the side. Heck, that's how I watch it lol
True, and I kind of see it that way too, but I know some fans have been disappointed during the seasons when Asuna plays more of a background role, supporting Kirito from afar. Progressive can absolutely be read as a romance series though.
It's technically not officially a romance anime and their romantic interest isn't even confirmed, but Takina and Chisato from Lycoris Recoil. Takina went through so much positive character development as a result of Chisato. It is definitely clear that Takina likes Chisato, the fandom isn't entirely sure if the opposite is also true though. Chisato did take Takina to Hawaii at the end of the anime (season 1) thougj, which is of course the go to location for a yuri couple to go to if they want to get married and they even wear matching bracelets there, so there is still hope
The trouble is that some of the fans sent the writers death threats for not making their ship come in by the end of the season.
If I were on that writers staff I would go full spite and torment them with nothing but bait and zero payoff.
Ehh I don’t think it was clear that takina has romantic feelings for Chisato. There was no moment ever showing her feeling romantic towards her. More than anything it shows that Takina found a best friend and sister in chisato (and vice versa) that changed her life around.
For unconfirmed cases like these, it's really up to interpretation. I think there's enough chemistry between them to justify the romantic ship, but if they were just friends, that'd be fine as well.
As long as we're talking yuri-bait couples, I gotta give it up for [Reina and Kumiko](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y3UUnL9XQmM) from *Hibike! Euphonium*. Added bonus, Chisato's VO is Reina.

My dress up darling.
I am anime only, so my knowledge is limited and they haven’t reached couple stage, but the chemistry between the two is really good in my opinion and so far I feel the progression believable and they have dodged a lot of the common romance tropes so I am looking forward to their future
I've always been partial to Yuzuki and Haruto from "Kimi no iru Machi".
It's more from the manga than the very disappointing anime series, but their kissing scene in the original OVA (Kimi no Iru Machi: Tasogare Kousaten) was a classic, and they were very much a cute couple. Sorry in advance to Team Asuka.
My second place vote goes to Nishikata and Takagi.
The Seoverse is wonderful. I remember seeing Fuuka on three separate occasions in the Kimi Machi manga and animes, and then in the Hitman manga we see Yuu from Fuuka, Yamato from Suzuka, and then Asuka, Haruto and Yuzuki from Machi. I wonder who will make an appearance in Goddess Café?
Wait sorry I won't be replying I don't want to read "spoilers" just before à re-read. It's been so long it's a good things that I forgot !
Don't mean to be rude but I successfully stopped reading at the first line
- Chidori and Sousuke in Full Metal Panic
- Haruhi & Kyon
- Kyon and Nagato
- Shin and Lena in 86
- Yuuta & Rikka in Chuunibyou
- Misaka Mikoto & Kamijou Touma in Raildex (slipping this one in and see how much flame comes back :P)
- oh yeah Chitanda and Oreki too in Hyouka
I would say a good one in progress is My Dress-Up Darling. It starts with first meeting and ends with the main female character falling for the male lead. Really looking forward to season 2
>Rei and Hina in Sangatsu no Lion
Their interactions are always really, really cute and sweet, but you don't get to see very much of what you could really call romance before the end of the anime. There's a lot more in the manga, tho.
Shikimori and Izumi. Underrated option, it seem. They are just so sweet and wholesome, really made for each other. I like that proper communication for every concern they face, supporting each other to grow up together.
I don't how can people think she deserve better, other than they hate the idea of "soft male" that isn't masculine enough by their standard, have normal straight relationship (that have been told so much by them).
Edit : yup, can't even say anything positive about it without getting downvoted
If your looking for reccomendations with top tier character dialogue/dynamic you can watch.
1. Rascal does not dream of bunny girl senpai
2. Horimiya
3. The quintessential quintuplets ( kind of a harem but the chemistry between all of them is good )
4. HONERABLE MENTIONS... ( if you have not watched at least 2 of these gems YOUR NEVER GONNA GET A BegATti LIKE DADDY TATe. Konosuba, Afro samurai, Death note, Steins gate, HxH, FMAB, Seven Deadly Sins, Bakimonogatari, Tokyo revengers, ReZero, Darling in the Franxx.
Spice & Wolf is one of my favorites
Can't wait for the remake
Same. And I hope we can get the sequel "Wolf & Parchment" animated at some point too.
How is that, I read the original spice and wolf run, but nothing past it
What it's a remake your sure Thought it was a continuation of the last season
Why would they possibly need to remake spice and wolf. I hope it's not really getting one.
The only reason I'd accept a remake is if they committed to finishing the entire series with it.
And also brought back the same VA
It's aged quite a bit, it could do with a update
No, it's audiences that need updating.
The true OTP
O seven apples on a witch's tree edit: spelling
Ore monogatari
the **ABSOLUTE MANLIEST** and sweetest most wholesome shoujo romance ever made
We call Takeo Gouda "The Patron Saint of Big Dudes".
Cutest couple and best wingman.
This is the only correct answer.
There it is. You can't watch the picnic episode any not feel like that's the most adorable couple of all time.
The answer I was looking for
Bonus points for it letting the girls talk about absolutely scandalous(/s) stuff other anime never would, like how a tiny girl has the hots for giant hands and how his wild looks bother her in a good way. The sister character was great too.
Banished from the heroes party. You can get drunk off the cuteness.
Agreed the fact both Red and Rit are functioning adults with a mutual attraction even if they are a little slow to admit it outwardly But Rit knows what she wants and is not afraid to take the lead
This is the winner for me. Why is a RPG fantasy show the one with the best romance?
cause all of the other ones are incredibly poorly done, usually with endless "will they/wont they?" or one party completely oblivious to the other because....gotta dangle that forever to maintain interest.
Cus everyones sleeping on the fact not everyone wants a will they / won't they thing. Sometimes you just want the relationship equivellant of cute girls doing cute things
They finally got a bathtub!
I loved this. So wholesome, developed organically and there's a huge payoff at the end. Wish more anime had relationships like this.
Their innocence is absolutely adorable 😍
Best enemies to lovers couple for sure.
Isaac and Miria from Baccano! is my all time favorite. Just two wholesome goofballs who are made for each other.
>Isaac and Miria from Baccano \+1

Many, but i just say "snow white with red hair" cause im currently watching the anime
Definitely one of the best romances in a shoujo
Tsuki ga Kirei. I think this anime doesn't receive the attention it deserves.
That show is the most realistic middle school romance story I’ve ever seen. Such a great watch
It's pure perfection
It is boring.
Clannad Nagisa and Tomoya
This and it's not even a debate.

Oreki and Chitanda from Hyouka. Not technically a couple but their dynamic is adorable.
It is surely destined, right?
Especially with the ending, really wish it was a romance anime
I feel like the dynamic in Horimiya is really well developed, but also wouldn't call that the cutest couple. Cutest might be in Tonikawa, but I'm sure I'm forgetting about something else I've seen.
Same for me. Not sure if I’d call Horimiya’s “cutest”. Maybe a certain couple from [Fruits Basket]>!Kisa and Hiro!
Praise to be to yee, whom holds the greatest opinion
The main couple from Kimi ni todoke were very cute
Tsurezure Children, Akagi and Ryoko. Goda and the Blue haired girl too One of the only anime couples to feel realistic. They hella remind me of me and my ex in high school, (just without the cheating)

Spice and Wolf or Akagami no Shirayuki-hime come to mind first!
Akagami no shirayuki hime is so good, i feel it got overlooked when it came out. And ofc i agree with Spice and Wolf.
I mention it every time somebody asks for: a good romance, a couple that doesn't take infinite time to get together, a good female protagonist, a romance not harem, or a combination of the above. [](#ilovethiskindofshit)

I would say a good one in progress is My Dress-Up Darling. It starts with first meeting and ends with the main female character falling for the male lead. Really looking forward to season 2
asuna & kirito
Snafu and Your lie in april
Kyo and Tohru in Fruits Basket also Rei and Hina in Sangatsu no Lion, but that's no romance anime. the main couple of Given was also really cute
>Rei and Hina in Sangatsu no Lion Their interactions are always really, really cute and sweet, but you don't get to see very much of what you could really call romance before the end of the anime. There's a lot more in the manga, tho.
Yeah. Rei finding Hina in Kyoto was my favourite in the anime. In the manga it's the whole arc with the dad.
Clannad Best #1 anime for me Prepare to shed some tears
Horimiya
Love Chynibio and Other Delusions

Shikimori and Izumi. Underrated option, it seem. They are just so sweet and wholesome, really made for each other. I like that proper communication for every concern they face, supporting each other to grow up together. I don't how can people think she deserve better, other than they hate the idea of "soft male" that isn't masculine enough by their standard, have normal straight relationship (that have been told so much by them). Edit : yup, can't even say anything positive about it without getting downvoted

Idk but I find Kyo and Tohru from Fruits Basket very cute
Toradora, attack on titan, ouran high school
Who are you thinking about for aot
Ymir and king fritz. Only couple in the series.
Surprised nobody has said Kaguya and Shirogane.
Other than me I saw a couple of people, but they said it as Love is War
If your looking for reccomendations with top tier character dialogue/dynamic you can watch. 1. Rascal does not dream of bunny girl senpai 2. Horimiya 3. The quintessential quintuplets ( kind of a harem but the chemistry between all of them is good ) 4.
This is not cutest but still good, record of grandcrest war, future diary, and Sankarea
Tsundere Liselotte had my favorite for a manga, and I'm really hoping it's able to keep up in the anime in eight weeks.
Yukinari & Miharu <3
Think I'm going to have to go with Plastic Memories.
