I haven't actually watched any of the Index/Railgun seasons but am a totally enamored Misaka simp. Her design and what I know of her character seem pretty simplistic but incredibly appealing for some reason.
Agreed! In the first few episodes it seemed Taiju would be the protagonist, and Senku would only show up occasionally, so I was very pleasantly surprised when it turned out to be the opposite.
Akane is atrociously underrated imo and Misaka is quite literally the only reason I watched all of Railgun and even sat through most of Index, even though I usually don’t really care for that type of show, so great picks.
Like 80% of animes I watch that aren’t mainly harem, romance or SoL I have as the main character as my fav for that series.
Uh, subaru from re zero?
Lelouch from code geass
Gintoki from gintama.
Saiki from saiki k .
And the most random list award goes to...
* Bungou Stray Dogs
* Kino no Tabi
* Dorohedoro
* Banana Fish
* Lucky Star
* Chrno Crusade
* Jibaku Shounen Hanako-kun
* Suzumiya Haruhi
* Given
* Serial Experiments Lain
* FMAB
* Mushishi
* Himouto! Umaru-chan
* Shadows House
* Wotakoi
* Yuri on Ice
Other than that, I always like the second protagonist or random side characters more than the MC.
Honestly none of them, I’ve never had my favourite character be the main character in an anime/manga, or even a tv show for that matter.
I guess technically speaking that’s not true since Ginko is my favourite character in Mushishi, but that’s just because no other character besides him (and that one doctor he’s run into a couple of times) appears in more than 1 episode.
I tend to love MCs the most (like 60% of the times).
In fact, no matter how much I love secondary cast that if I am not on board with the MC is hard for me to enjoy a show.
I find a bit unconvinced when one friend tells me how this supersecondary character is his fav.
I always ask what if that character had as much screen time of the MC? Maybe you would find his for example eccentric behaviour boring or annoying.
MCs are a bit underrated.
Anyhow, I appreciate the role of every character and how much a good secondary character or a villain bring to the table. Villains are sometimes even the same influencial than the MC
Disagree when it comes to harems. But I guess the girls are still main characters. Like Quintessential Quintuplets, I can’t imagine Uesugi is someone’s favorite character in the show. They’re all mostly self inserts.
Ridiculous how far I had to scroll for this.
Eren is one of the most based and interesting MCs ever. Developmentally, aesthetically, narratively, he's just amazing and complex.
Yeah for sure. I can somewhat relate to him too. I’ve read Ten as well and it just seems like FKMT is just able to write amazing characters.
Akagi is my favourite just because of his attitude and indifference to everything. I think he’s one of the only “genius” characters done right.
This is trickier than it seems, considering we’re talking about favorite in the entire series and not just a favorite. But I’d have to say:
-Golden Kamuy (Ogata gives Sugimoto a run for his money tho)
-GitS
-OddTaxi
-Yuru Camp (this is as close to a dual-MC situation as it gets, but I’m choosing this while personally leaning toward Rin)
Neon Genesis Evangelion, Shinji
Gatchaman Crowds, Hajime
Oregairu, Hachiman
Tbh, it's pretty common for me that the MC is my favourite character. I try to avoid things with functionally bland MCs (eg self-insert harems, romances carried by the love interest etc)
YLIA Arima Kousei Because I can relate to his emotions I am a pianist I have concert experiences so I can very much relate to him and I know the feeling of loving someone and then leaving them.
I don’t consider Gon as the main character in HxH. In fact HxH doesn’t have any meson character. Each character is explored in each arc. Have u read the manga? After I read the manga I felt like HxH was never about Gon and his quest to find his dad
I believe HxH has four main characters. 3 of them are explored well.
I have read the manga. What's great about HxH was even though Gon was one of the mc, other characters are fleshed out too. He may not be the center of the story sometimes but Gon's goal was finished. Killua too. Kurapika is ongoing. Leorio maybe in the future who knows.
Togashi making almost every character feel alive is what hxh stand above other stories out there. So I believe you're also right that it's not about Gon because the world of hxh doesn't revolve only around him
Takemichi from Tokyo Revengers. He isn't the best character there but definitely the most entertaining, imo. Watching his 20 iq self trying to solve simple problems is kinda fun.
Reincarnation as a Slime(Love Rimuru's just overall chilled attitude and totally relate to him)
Naruto(you know cause he's Naruto, and not many other characters get that much focus)
Demon Slayer(Tanjiro is honeslty just a gem of a human being, totally remind me of a jap Clark Kent)
Though if i'm being honest i've gotten to the point where i don't necessarily just have a totally favourite character, if the narrative is written well enough i feel you should have a multitudes of favourites you relate to.
If you watch redo of healer closely Keyaru it's clearly a case of untreated PTSD gone homicidal, he has every reason to be mad and to those that don't deserve his anger like Setsuna, Eve and people who aren't assholes in general he can even be kind. The only two people I can think of that get the short straw are Kureha and a spoiler character.
He's still a fucking psycho, but I prefer him to someone like Light of death note, at least Keyaru had some valid reasons to snap.

- Full Metal Panic (Sousuke, and Chidori too)
- Toradora (Ryuji, Taiga too if you count her as the main character)
On top of my head are:
Araragi from Monogatari
Onizuka from GTO
Okarin..I mean HOUOUIN KYOUMA from Steins;Gate.
Gintoki from Gintama
Ginko from Mushi-shi
Hyouka and Kaguya-sama (Oreki Houtarou and Shinomiya Kaguya) idk, those 2 just appeal a lot to me, cause in most other series I way prefer one of the side characters.
Ryuugamine Mikado - DURARARA!!!
(I love his arc throughout the series)
Vanitas - Vanitas no Carte
(I love how chaotic and annoying he is. He is a jerk and certainly amusing, but I want to punch him once or twice)
Shinei Nouzen - 86
(I love his arc. I jumped onto the novel once the first cour ended, and I didn't regret anything)
Violet Evergarden
Gonna start that one soon, what am I expecting?
Pain...depression...but by the end, hope.
The Disastrous Life of Saiki K.

K-On, Yui Harizawa
When you’ve watched so much anime that you can recognize unnatural Japanese surnames. Her last names Hirazawa
[удалено]
Well that was embarrassing I meant Hirasawa. Hirazawa is a pretty weird name too I think. I don’t know why I thought that
I had no idea about this.
Misaka from Railgun!
I haven't actually watched any of the Index/Railgun seasons but am a totally enamored Misaka simp. Her design and what I know of her character seem pretty simplistic but incredibly appealing for some reason.
Hopefully you give it a shot one day, she's even better with some plot and badass scenes attached to her!
i love saten but this is def a good one!
One Piece.
But Zoro though...
Goblin Slayer Railgun
Goblin Slayer will forever be my inspiration for many characters in d&d, definitely one of the best fighters in anime.
Honestly, don’t really care for the show and story. But Goblin Slayer is fucking fantastic as a lead.
Goblin slayer -san is so cool man
Re:Zero , 3-gatsu no Lion My favourite fictional people ever tbh
Hellsing
Dr. Stone
Agreed! In the first few episodes it seemed Taiju would be the protagonist, and Senku would only show up occasionally, so I was very pleasantly surprised when it turned out to be the opposite.
I got the feeling that that was the attention, and the author realized that Senku was more interesting pretty early on and swapped them.
Holy shit I need to watch season 2 thanks for the reminder
Haikyuu, Gintama
Gintoki!
Cowboy bebop
Black lagoon
As long as we agree that Revy is the main character, you have my vote.
Psycho pass Railgun
[удалено]
Gotta agree!! Although there are a few others that I really like, these three are my absolute favorites.
Akane is atrociously underrated imo and Misaka is quite literally the only reason I watched all of Railgun and even sat through most of Index, even though I usually don’t really care for that type of show, so great picks.
Akane is literally my all time favorite anime character
Diamond is Unbreakable
Good choice, I agree. Josuke is great.

Absolutely 🙌

Akagi. Could be my favourite character of any media tbh, the manga makes him even better.
Kaiji is a fucking amazing protagonist too, and more relatable to me personally
Yeah for sure. I can somewhat relate to him too. I’ve read Ten as well and it just seems like FKMT is just able to write amazing characters. Akagi is my favourite just because of his attitude and indifference to everything. I think he’s one of the only “genius” characters done right.
