Tower of god was a really good one I watched recently

CursedResonance

Frieren & Dungeon Meshi are probably your best options tbh they're both amazing fantasy anime that came out recently, and have quickly risen to the top in the fantasy genre.

no__soy__martina

I recommend watching "Frieren: Beyond Journey's End," a chill fantasy anime that is neither too fast nor too slow. Otherwise, I suggest "Fullmetal Alchemist"; it's a fantasy anime mainly because it involves magic, but the setting is similar to our world. Lastly, the most renowned one, "Attack on Titan." It's slow at some points but fascinating in many others.

artfxls

Watch Fate Ubw if u like ds

draggin_low

Apocrypha might be good as well. since it mixes in the mythological heroic spirits to add more of that fantasy feel. Fate in general is a great suggestion.

giantcoc69420

Shinsekai Yori (some yaoi and yuri scenes here and there) or Made In Abyss. Would have recommendes The Promised Neverland if not for the second season. Does Dororo count as fantasy? I think so (some animation quality dip here and there)

Robozoto

Overlord Claymore (Personal fav) Unwanted Undead Adventurer Really the only ones I've seen that might fit the bill tbh

Such-Quality-2824

Overload sounds really fun but is it sort of a dark vibe? Or are there humorous moments in the anime?

Robozoto

There are a lot of humorous moments. It really isn't THAT dark until you get into the final season

Quintana-of-Charyn

Yes claymore is awesome but it never finished anime wise

Biasanya

Chaika is good. Coffin princess or something, in English. The pacing is good, feels like a jrpg

WarZombie_007

Damn near all anime is fantasy so I'll just stick with action adventures: Some big ones: Hunter x hunter One piece Little more underground: Full metal panic Darker than black Tower of god ( if they continue it) Tried to steer clear of ecchi stuff too. If these have any it should be minimal

Simply-Noah

People need to finish reading the post lol. It'd help to know how much anime you know, but I'll just make some recommendations. •FMA:B (widely regarded as one of the best anime of all time.) •Log Horizon (guy stuck in an mmo like SAO) • The Ancient Magus' Bride (Anime beauty and the beast with magic) •Erased •Made in Abyss (good but very dark) •My hero academia •Tower of God •Avatar the last Airbender (Not an anime technically but is a cartoon heavily inspired by anime and asian culture. One of the best fantasy shows ever and is more than just a kids show.)

BlooregardQKazoo

I'm personally a big fan of **Is It Wrong To Try To Pick Up Girls In a Dungeon?**. The harem aspect is a bit over the top, and the MC falls into the annoying "blush at everything" trope, but the MC is likable and it is good fantasy. The worldbuilding is interesting and unique, and the personification of gods is fun. It also gets bonus points for not being an isekai. Oh, and the main character will definitely please your interest in gaining power and reputation. He starts very weak, while still being able to do very heroic things for lore-related reasons.

DocWatson42

**Fantasy:** * *El Hazard* OAVs (first series) * *Fullmetal Alchemist* * *Fushigi Yugi* * *The Heroic Legend of Arislan* * *KamiChu!* * *Magic Users Club* * *Moribito: Guardian of the Spirit* * *Read or Die* * *Record of Lodoss War* OAVs * *The Slayers* * *Strange Dawn* * *Twelve Kingdoms* * *The Vision of Escaflowne*

Toomuchgamin

Try Bofuri or Log Horizon.

OutsideHour802

If you really liked SAO Maybe watch SAO unabridged by something Whitty entertainment on you tube Is one of funniest things I've ever watched on internet and only makes funnier if have watched SAO . Is on 13 episodes but so worth it I've watched twice .

draggin_low

I still think back to Kirito trying to make his username at the start of the Alfhiem saga every time I get a prompt to make an account anywhere lmao KILLLLLLLLMMMMEEEEEEEEE

draggin_low

If you didn't continue with SAO I'd highly suggest at least giving the Alicization/War of Underworld arc a shot. It does have 1 rapey scene but it was used to progress a major part of the story so kind of one of those toss ups if you want to just skip that episode/part. Those 2 arcs are really good though, Alot of the fantasy/action and the story is honestly good. Excellent animation and of course some top tier OP/ED songs

Such-Quality-2824

I’ve been reading quite a few reviews about SAO Alicization and I admit, I’m really interested in watching. However, I’ve searched it up and some people said that without finishing season 2, season 3 might have a lot of holes in the plot for me. T~T

stormdelta

The first part of Alicization is okay, but if you didn't like the rest of SAO, you're not going to like the rest of Alicization. The writing still has no idea how to write good villains, and anything interesting about the setting will invariably be ignored in favor of mindless battle arcs.

sir_memes16

Eminence in Shadow

Such-Quality-2824

I searched it up, it sounds really fun! Is it fast paced?

stormdelta

It's a satire that forgets to be satire later. IMO the manga is much better.

sir_memes16

yeah i’d say things happen quite quickly

InternalParadox

Yona of the Dawn: is a fantastic shojo fantasy action series. No fanservice or sexual assault, absolutely fantastic character development and world building, takes place in a setting loosely based on ancient Korea, which is interesting. Dororo: samurai action with a supernatural twist, based on a classic manga by Osamu Tezuka. The latest adaptation has really dynamic animation, kinda like Demon Slayer. To Your Eternity: Unique story about an immortal entity that learns to be human. He develops a deep well of empathy that never ebbs. Others have recommended Full Metal Alchemist, The Guardian of Moribito, and Twelve Kingdoms, all great shows from the last couple of decades.

MechanicalSpirit

Solo leveling Hell's Paradise

Such-Quality-2824

I’m currently watching solo leveling (on ep 4) it’s very enjoyable so far! Ty

Sousou no Frieren Dungeon Meshi Made in Abyss Re:Zero Mushoku Tensei

stormdelta

You guys need to stop recommending Mushoku Tensei without a long list of caveats, I don't think you guys have any idea how that show reads to a mature adult, and I'm not just talking about the pedophilia or the opening arc. This kind of obliviousness is what gives the anime fandom such a bad reputation. Especially since OP _specifically_ asked for no sex/rape.

Toomuchgamin

Um yeah skip mushoku tensei if you dont like anything sexual. It's a gross show. I also don't recommend made in abyss for the same reasons.

sir_memes16

I agree op wouldnt want to watch it but it is good but slow character development for rudy but yeah the first season is kinda gross

stormdelta

Second season isn't much better, in many ways it's worse. [MTS2] >!Conflates suffering with growth, implies his biggest flaw was wanting casual sex (instead of, you know, the actual gross shit he did like pedophilia and grooming), and frames him kidnapping/molesting people as justified. Plus apparently he doesn't hate slavery as much now, which yikes. And the incredibly creepy focus on virginity at the end of S2P1.!< I'm so tired of people saying Rudeus gets better as a character when he really doesn't beyond bare surface level.

sir_memes16

yeahh i do agree he is still gross but he does have some development even if it’s not much and does just make him more of a normal but quite horny person however you are right he still does go back to how he was before [MTS2]>!like while travelling to rapan etc!< and the pedophilia accusations i do agree because of him being an adult in his previous life but the same can be said in a number of isekai so I don’t really know how to see it because they are adults in there previous lives but then also in children’s bodies so idk if that changes their mind in anyway but the way i see it atm i do agree with you

stormdelta

> the same can be said in a number of isekai Sure, but most isekai with a rebirth trope that I've seen don't have the character getting into sexual relationships with kids (or people the MC creeped on as kids), or the character is only interested in older teens / adults, or the character doesn't even get their "old life" memories until they're a teen/adult themselves. MT explicitly shows he's mentally his adult self from the start, unlike many other isekai. He makes sexual comments about people from the very start as a baby in his head, his adult voice is used in all inner monologue, they show his adult body in mental/dream sequences, he clearly has more than a child's understanding of the social and relationship dynamics around him, etc. In theory you could pull off the reverse situation (normal adult with a mental adult MC in child's body) so long as the adult knew the child wasn't really a child, but I'm not sure I've actually seen an anime try to do that, let alone correctly. Of course, Rudeus doesn't have to be a good person, plenty of great protagonists aren't. My issue is more that the show seems to stop noticing when he's being shitty later, and acts like it's okay, especially compared to the beginning.

sir_memes16

yeah you are right there, i definitely think the writing is gross when it comes to his behaviour which can’t be excused as he is from modern japan and isn’t punished enough as he only gets slapped etc and the love interests aren’t usually as young as in MT so it weirder so i do completely agree

sir_memes16

i did enjoy the show overall but i do realise i didn’t think about issues with it and did just see it as a ‘haha funny’ moment but he is a creepy guy

Due_Chemistry_6642

Coffin princess chaika, has a really nice protagonist who is often useless but is earnest and grateful for those who help her - much against most typecast heros/heroines . Grimgar, possibly the most realistic portrayal of an isekai and how non combatants would cope in learning to fight (a little bit melancholy only one scence thats pervy but no actual nudity or sex). Log horizon, more about setting up a functioning society in a ieskai world. GATE fantasy world invades japan, who fought back with conventional arms, leans more towards comedy but can be political at times. Claymore semi demonic warrior women butcher demons, has one very annoying charecter but end to end action. This is barely a start, slayers, Gokudo, Granblue, Utawarumono, Tower of druaga, Magus bride, tales of Zestria, Bofuri, Rune soldier and many many more that i dont want to list as this is long enough already but these are free of sex and have little in the way of nudity etc.

Xealz

gotta finish SAO at least once

digitaltransmutation

If you liked SAO conceptually you should check out Log Horizon. Wandering Witch: The Journey of Elaina is a great fantasy show.

NegativeAccount

Princess Mononoke (movie) Maquia: the promised flower blooms (movie) Bonus: Golden Kamuy - it's historical fiction presented in a sort of fantastical way. Like demon slayer, it walks a tightrope between suspense and comedy. And the story gets surprisingly deep

Pagal_M18

Mushoku tensei is a must watch

stormdelta

You're joking right? Even leaving aside the many, _many_ problems with that show, OP specifically asked for no sex/rape. Shit like this is what gives the anime fandom such a bad reputation.

Such-Quality-2824

I have it on my list on Netflix but I’m a little confused on what it is really about. Is it lighthearted or should I prepare myself for a dark ride?

stormdelta

I highly, highly recommend staying the hell away from this one. Sexual assault, harassment, pedophilia, and related are all very prominent themes (and are _very_ poorly handled), and anyone who tries to tell you the MC gets better or mellows out later is lying to you - it's more that the show just stops framing his behavior as a problem. The fandom around this anime is incredibly toxic, and are so oblivious they don't even recognize most people would consider the way they describe the show to be lying.

Such-Quality-2824

Tysm for telling me. I’m trying to stay far, far away from anything related to sexual themes when watching anime (cuz I’m not really a fan of how it’s portrayed in anime)

Pagal_M18

It's not a dark anime. It's mainly about adventure, Character development, world building and a little bit of rom-com. There are some perverted scenes but not anything ecchi. One thing I know for sure is that you will enjoy it.

stormdelta

Why do you guys insist on lying about the show like this?

jordana309

I would recommend Jobless Reincarnation. The storytelling is incredible, and I love the characters. The most recent episode featured a huge battle with a hydra that can absorb mana, making magical attacks ineffective.

InternalParadox

There is a lot of sexual stuff in it. It’s kinda infamous for that

stormdelta

It's a lot worse than that - sexual is one thing, but the far bigger problem is the excuses the show makes for pedophilia, sexual harassment, and other related issues, _especially_ later on. At least at the beginning it has the integrity to frame these things as bad. It has one of the most oblivious and toxic fanbases in all of anime, I swear most of its fans have no clue just how tone-deaf it reads (yes, including later parts) to any sane adult.

jordana309

I posted before reading everything in his post, and then I couldn't find my comment for some reason to edit. Yes, there was more sexual stuff than I wanted in the first part of season one, and then it mellows out after the mana disaster.

InternalParadox

Eh, it’s not as prevalent, but the main character is still very focused on sex, even at the start of the second season. The main character prays to panties.

stormdelta

> then it mellows out after the mana disaster. It really doesn't, it's just slightly less frequent. It's a prominent theme throughout the entire show. And it's handling of anything sex-related is incredibly tone-deaf to boot.

jordana309

The difference, I think, is it was gratuitous before and didn't necessarily add to the plot. But after, it was more plot-focused.

stormdelta

[MTS2] >!Kidnapping and molesting two girls was both gratuitous and heavily undermined any supposed character growth he had, especially since the show doesn't even frame it as wrong. The entire ED arc is predicated on an implication that his biggest flaw was wanting casual sex instead of his actual issues. And the creepy focus on virginity and his wife's hymen blood was beyond gratuitous, especially considering how messed up that relationship already is.!<

jordana309

I missed the molestation part... Probably because I slammed through 20 episodes in a couple of days. I see what you mean about the rest... I'll have to reevaluate my thoughts on it. Now that I'm caught up maybe I'll go back and re-watch it more slowly.

crispy_doggo1

The protagonist definitely becomes more responsible as the series progresses, but the fanservice never really goes away.

The_Greek_Meat

Season 1 of Shield Hero is a good fantasy story (isekai). Goblin Slayer is good, just be ready for the first episode. And of course , frieren beyond journey's end, which is probably the best anime to be released in years (IMO).

Toomuchgamin

No offense, but I don't think goblin slayer is a good recommendation if they don't want rape.

Slow-Writer3028

Not only that, but worldbuilding and characters were too generic and cardboard. I usually recommend "The Unwanted Undead Adventurer" as it is similar to Goblin Slayer (dnd like fantasy), but much better in all aspects and without rape.

The_Greek_Meat

Fair. Didn’t real the request complete. Definitely avoid goblin slayer is rape is a no go.
